What's the best way to grind trophies, equipment, gold, etc. using amiibo? I've been doing 8-player Smash with 8 amiibo and 60 mins of game time. Should I try for quicker matches?

I've also got the Sandbag as the only item turned on.
 
That's definitely a fair way to look at things. There are quite a few redundant songs in the game, a lot of questionable sourcing for direct rips (the new direct rips for Metroid come entirely form Other M and Hunters, what the actual fuck), and it's not terribly balanced for some series either--Mario has approximately as many new remixes as it did in Brawl yet Donkey Kong gets four total, two of which are redundant Jungle level remixes. There's a lot of really strange musical decisions in the game.

The rips were a massive missed opportunity at times - in particular, despite taking music from Nintendo Land and ALBW, opting not to use the orchestration of Lower Norfair, and faithful update of Hyrule Castle were conspicuous oversights that ignored new arrangements of iconic SNES tracks that have consistently been absent from the series. And while this is more subjective, their selections from Mario Kart 8, Triple Deluxe, Tropical Freeze and others seemed to overlook those games' most notable original themes - going to the trouble to rip their music and leaving out Dolphin Shoals, Moonstruck Blossom, Busted Bayou and Lorule Castle seems like such a waste...

I dunno why they didn't go for the Boss Battle Theme or even Saturos Battle Theme. :/

I just want Venus Lighthouse. An arrangement would be nice, but a direct rip would still fit in reasonably well..

Man, I really wanted Metal Man's theme, or Galacta Knight's theme in this game.

All of these Jungle remixes, and Mute City arrangements make it feel like Sakurai got sloppy on the music selection this time around.

This entire post pretty much sums up my feelings. Music choices are incredibly weird. Don't get them at all.

There was just way too much "first level of the game" music in general. They went for recognizability over quality, which sucks.

Also like 7 or 8 versions of Jungle Level. What the actual hell. It's like multiple people were in charge of choosing the game's music and none of them talked to one another ever. There's like 4 songs with the Gusty Garden motif all on the same stage. Its a great song but christ, galaxy has other awesome music too. 3 tracks from Other M and 2 from the entire Prime trilogy, are you kidding me? Hunters gets a rip but Corruption doesn't? Not a single new Wario Land or Warioware arrangement? No new Sonic arrangements (though this might just be Sega being dumb)? 2 Starfox remixes and both songs had remixes in the previous smash game. Soundtrack is great overall but ugh some of the decisions made.
 
Darn it, been playing offline for a week (got this last week).

Finally decide to jump online to play with a friend that has the game, and error 118-0516 left and right (both of us and with randoms), even on the 2DS. Opening NAT, putting the Wii U's IP on DMZ, Google DNS,a static IP to the Wii U (and another to tje 2DS)...yet nothing. Downloads and Mario Kart 8 online are fine.

Oh well. Guess this will stay as a local/offline game.

GGs. I started to zone out those last three matches. I decided to just end the last one because I wasn't even paying attention anymore. I enjoyed the experience.

Your Luigi is the first good one I have faced. It took me a long time to adjust. Is there anything I can be doing better during your grab combo?

Dhtrow fair fair dthrow fair fair is supposed to work on big or fast falling characters at low percents. You were getting out cause I was messing up the timing.

What I was shocked I had trouble landing was dthrow to up b or nair. That's supposed to work at high percents too. I guess it's harder on Bowser.
 
Just beat a really annoying samus player in for glory, kept spamming missiles and charge shots the whole time. Also sonic is a beast, just started trying to learn him and he's much better than he was in brawl
 
For Glory is full of roll spammers, good god. I just played a Mario who literally just rolled, fireballed, and dash attacked the entire time. I killed him one and then it went to sudden death. I don't have an easy roll punish with Luigi, and it doesn't help he always rolled away. Ugh.

I have no idea how to fight these types of players. It makes for a boring match and a frustrating experience.
 
Dumb question: can you fight someone online by just looking up their NNID without having them on your friend list?

I see people put out their NNID in this thread all the time; how exactly do you find each other in Smash?

Use Ike. :D Also Luigi's downsmash should be able to eat roll-spam.
 
That feeling when you're playing online and you whiff and miss shit because the lag keeps eating your inputs, while your opponent has frame-perfect timing with every single move.
 
Who has the best Rosalina here on GAF? I need some practice against the matchup, and the For Glory ones are rare and are usually pretty bad.
 
Yeah, I need to work on that, I'm still very new to competitive smash. Any tips? Besides git gud, that is.

For one, you need to learn to time dodges and air dodges (spamming them makes you predictable). Also when recovering, try to sweetspot (aka grab the ledge exactly) rather than trying to jump over your opponent as you were trying to do and eating my smashes. The ledge gives you momentary invincibility.

I'm convinced that Kirby is Top 5. I don't know how people aren't noticing that he can throw an aerial right after throwing and has 1-2 frame start up on pretty much everything.
 
Had some great matches with a DK. He repeatedly beat me, but I started to win a few myself. Great fun.

Best moment: He stage spikes me, I Extreme speed back up, stage spiking him. I laughed for a good minute after that happened.

I'm convinced that Kirby is Top 5. I don't know how people aren't noticing that he can throw an aerial right after throwing and has 1-2 frame start up on pretty much everything.

He has no range and no power to excuse that. He isn't very mobile, either.

You can only adjust frequency, though those with frequencies set to zero will not play at all. As for custom stages, they're limited to the regular versus mode. I can kind of see why they did that, seeing as they have no way of knowing how taxing a given custom stage would be on the game with 8 players and items, but you would have thought they could have allowed all custom stages below a certain weight limit to be available in 8-player mode...

One thing I don't get about 8-player mode is why they let us play in regular Battlefield, the stage is just waaay too smal.
