Dark Souls GFWL to Steamworks Migration is now live.

Is there a way to get DSfix + game to run at 1920*1200 while being in windowed borderless mode? In game it only goes up to 1920x1080 when I select 'windowed' from in game, but this causes scaling issues and clicking menus and such with the mouse are off by 120 pixels.

Also, every time I start Dark Souls, I get a UAC pop up so it can do that first time install DirectX stuff, but it happens every time i run Dark Souls, is this normal?

I'm not taking my character online until I get confirmation that the game has VAC bans.

That said: AWESOME

I've been waiting for this patch for so long.

Anyone else having trouble using the DS4? I have DSFix 2.3 but my camera rotates nonstop and my buttons are all messed up.
I tried a 360 pad and that worked, but it's just the DS4 that won't work.

My Dualshock works fine, just use ScpServer and hide DS4. And go!

yay did all the steps in the op and got the new dsfix. game runs even smoother than before fuck ya. thx From and Durantewoo

The exe to the game has changed, so if some of you have problem (like i did) with starting the game with the 60fps fix, remember to add it again to the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) white list.

That region locking thing sounds awful, hopefully it's just a bug and is fixed soon. Are there any changes to the way the online works or is it still an IP pool that fills over about 20 minutes?

Edit: Also, what name does it show instead of your GFWL one?

Regionlocking should get fixed, Steamworks has it enabled by default and it's apparently rather well hidden. Other than getting rid of GFWL the online should work the same with the P2P stuff.

Edt:
Quoting for new page.

I just replied to you :P. To elaborate a bit, the Region Lock is a Steamworks setting, so they literally just have to find the option and disable it, no patches required or changes to game code. If they're made aware of it they should be able to fix it asap.

I'm not really hip to the software lingo, but wouldn't distributing the debug version still be distributing a copy of the game and therefore no bueno?

Man alive, I've never tried playing Dark Souls at 60fps until today. For two years I've intentionally kept it at 30 because that's what I was used to but WOW at the difference. Even the loading times are insane.

So far its been a bit glitchy though. I apparently left the bottomless box menu too fast, tried to exit and stand up, and got frozen in place. I could see my items switching in the HUD but I couldn't stand up or get control of my character. Had to force close the game and restart :\

I was having issues with it crashing also, I thought it might have had something to do with DSfix but seems the issue was games for windows live (yeah lol) I figured a fresh install of dark souls 1 would work fine but no, had to uninstall games for windows live, get a fresh installer from the website, set dark souls and games for windows lives .exes to run in windows 7 mode (on windows 8) and it finally launched and I was able to do the steps on the first page to get my game save and achievements working on the version without games for windows live.
Turned out Game for Windows Live was the reason for my game to crash too. Had to uninstall it and download it from the web to get it working.

What if I don't care about my progress in Dark Souls? (I never got very far due to hating GFWL).
Can I just launch the beta and start a new save?

Hi guys, so a friend has a problem with the game.

He bought the game a month ago, now with the migration he decided to start it but it doesn't work.

Black windowed screen if he activates the dsptde 2.0.

If deactivates the dsptde 2.0 option, the game runs with GFWL but it seems like there's a problem of incompatibility.

He haven't played the game yet so there's no save issues.

Any suggestions?

Have a question for you guys:

Got a steam key for this game a long time ago. Played a couple of times with the idea of playing it again eventually on my pc, and then one day I tried to play it but GFWL said my password was wrong (even though I know it can't be). Anyways, I cannot access my account now the BETA tab cannot be set to “dsptde-2.0-“.

If I uninstall the game and install it again (because I don't mind losing my "progress") can I just play using my steam account?

I don't know if it's placebo from reading your post but it feels smoother to me too. I've tried it at 30 fps at first and even that seemed smoother than it used to be.

edit: I'm getting something like screen tearing, it's a slow moving horizontal line that 'spawns' in the lower third of the screen and goes upwards. Vsync is on, fps is capped.

Too much input lag, just use borderless fullscreen mode instead.

This is for anyone else who is getting unusually bad screen tearing too.

To fix screen tearing, set:

forceFullscreen 1

at the bottom of dsfix.ini. Also, if you have a 144 Hz monitor:

fullscreenHz 144

At 144hz, I don't notice any tearing with Vsync off after setting these, but if you have 60 you might need to force Vsync to completely eliminate it.

Forcing windowed mode in dsfix.ini (along with ingame menu setting) fixed this for me on 1680x1050 which is also 16:10.

kinda.

it just transforms based on if you opt in (full steamworks) or opt out (gfwl), though to be fair after opting out (and it downloading a 160mb update) i got stuck during the GFWL "signing in" graphic and i just killed the exe via task manager some time after thinking it froze (the close button on the overlay wasn't doing anything when i was clicking it).

I opted in again right after since i started to fear fucking up my saves somehow.
Ah, so it's basically one way. It's too bad they don't let you keep the GFWL version. I'd like to think I would go back to get those final achievements, even if it's not going to ever happen. lol

I have a 60hz monitor and this doesn't eliminate screen tearing. I have to force it on via NVCP. Input lag is negligible especially compared to 30fps, my god.

So let's say I would add a few souls using Cheat engine with the latest data.ct for the steamworks version. Would I get a vac ban, just for adding some souls?

Boot up my game for the first and the movement controls are assigned to D-Pad while the UI navigation to the left thumbstick.
WTF. Is there anyway to change this?

Brilliant! Thank you :) That worked for me. Ah 60fps, so lovely.

Supposedly I have to disable DSfix in order to update my game. How do I disable it, though?

You don't any more. Just update to the newest version of DSFix. Might be a good idea to remove it for the upgrade, in which case you just delete DINPUT8.dll in the game's DATA directory, but as long as you have the newest version of DSFix you probably don't need to.

Changing your download region changes your matchmaking too, in theory if we all set the same region whe should have a decent population for pvp.
