Allow me to tell you a tale of heartache and woe. Warning: It's long.
Remember when Toys"R"Us offered the 3 for 30$ on Amiibos? Well I decided that would be a perfect way to get in on the Amiibo craze while being friendly to my wallet. If only I'd have known how much hassle it would cause...
So I decided to order Link, Zelda, and Marth. Now I was fully aware that the Zelda Amiibo wasn't a part of the first wave and that I would be waiting on it. I also saw that there was a promotional offer for buying the game. Buy Super Smash Bros. get a free Amiibo. Great, I need the game to and this way I can get another figure I'd like.
So I ordered the game and the extra Amiibo (I chose Samus). I decided to place these into two separate orders so that I could get the game faster (I figured they'd hold the order waiting for Zelda). First order 32$, second order 64$ a grand total of 96$ for four Amiibos and a brand new game. Not bad I thought.
The day of release I refreshed the order screen every few hours to see if it had shipped. Nothing. The next day. Still nothing even though the game and Amiibo . I chalked it up to being a popular game and I was still playing Binding of Isaac so I wasn't stressing it. The following Monday I got an order update in my e-mail so I checked it. The Link and Marth had shipped (independently of Zelda) but the game/Samus was still "In Stock". I called their customer Service and asked why my game hadn't shipped and she was clueless as to why it hadn't shipped out yet and so gave me a 10$ code.
'What the hell', I said to myself, 'I'll order a couple more'. Still using the 3 for 30$ deal I picked up Diddy, Luigi, and another Zelda. Most of the rest had been sold-out at this time but I was excited to get three more for 22$. Bringing my grand total to 118$. Later that day, I got another order update, the game shipped...but not Samus. I decided to wait on it and see if it resolved itself. Eventually, a package arrived. This should be the Link/Marth. I opened it up and pulled Link out admiring the figure and pulled out the second one: Kirby. No Marth. Kirby.
Back on the phone with Customer Service I have a hell of a time trying to explain to this woman what these toys and explaining to her that 'No, I don't know the item number for the "Kirby toy"' finally, I asked for a manager. It went much smoother this time around. I explained to him the problem and that I wanted to have Marth shipped out to me. Nope. Can't.
It's now out-of-stock. So he told me that he was going to refund 10$ back (down to 108$ now). I was okay with it, that's what it would have cost me anyhow. After that was resolved he asked me if I had any other problems. So I told him that Samus hadn't shipped yet.
He asked me to pull up
the page for the game. 'Scroll down and look under Legal' he says.

He went on to tell me that the game doesn't come with a figure and that I wasn't going to get one. I had to tell him, no less than half a dozen times, that there had been a promotional offer and that's why the figure was listed as 0.00$ in the order details. Eventually he gave up and said that he'd put in an inquiry to figure out why it hadn't shipped yet. I finally got the last of my Amiibos today.
I like Toys"R"Us but I will never again order online.
TLDR: After a couple of painful calls to Customer Service I ended up getting seven Amiibos and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U for 108$ total.
