I don't understand how is posible that Godzilla game is getting a PS4 version but their flagship JRPG franchise isn't.

I don't even have a PS4, but if the games bombs I'm worried it may make Bamco rethink if the awesome way they've been handling Tales lately in the West is worth or not.

Nice to see other characters doing that "Kamui" thing BTW.

Baba already mentioned he's surprised by how fast the PS4 caught on in the west, so in the worst case it does bomb, I don't think they'll just give up there. I don't think Tales has ever had multiplatform releases. We'll probably see a PS4 release next year if we get one at all.
 
When the game was first announced I remember the graphics being much more impressive. Maybe this was due to the low res video but now it just looks more and more like xillia. Really hope a ps4 version is announced as I get a sneaky suspicion performance in this game won't be great.

For the Sengoku Basara attachments, they are literally the characters in chibi form which makes them look pretty silly.

There are also shots of both Sorey and Rose in Kamui during battle.
 
Hate that Yuri/Leon/Zelos/etc are being used again (there's so many other choices come on now...), but bless them for giving me the Cheria costume I've been wanting. Def getting that one.
 
Wish we could have gotten someone in Ludger's costume. He was pretty classy. Hell, anyone that wasn't Milla in Xillia 2 had a pretty classy costume.
 
So the only new cameo costumes are Elize and Milla? Jesus fuck Bamco. There are so many fucking characters to choose from yet you keep reusing the same ones over and over
 
I wasn't too hot for this game and I don't think I still am but those recent screens are looking great. I was expecting the game to look much worse, the only thing that I still need to see is if the fields are going to be empty, generic and linear like Xillia (which I'm expecting) but the characters and some environments are looking a lot better than expected.

What a downgrade the series took since Vesperia....I think the cell shading style from vesperia suited so much more to the series, than those horrible ps2/ps3 graphics

Couldn't possibly agree more. I had a lot of fun with Xillia/Xillia2 but couldn't completely get over how bad they looked in comparison to Vesperia. Why they ditched Vesperia's cel-shading is beyond me.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Zesty Tales. It's looking alright so far but after the two Xillia's I dunno if I can handle more boring barren fields. Glad to see puzzle dungeons and GO SHIINA MUSIC are making a return.

Elize was a costume for Presea in ToSC. So Milla is the only new cameo. Extremely shitty lineup of cameo costumes. Lailah as Mint is ew. I don't think Legendia has once had a character appear as a costume for someone (perhaps this is due to different character designs???). Lailah would've been great with Grune's costume.
 
Well the game is out in a month, hype for this seems kinda...tepid compared to Vesperia/Graces/Xillia though, lol. Even with Japan it doesn't quite feel like the hype machine is really cranking like it was for Xillia (though I haven't checked preorder numbers or anything recently, maybe it paints a different picture). But Zestiria is a PS3-only game releasing in 2015 and the sixth one for the platform (and it's arguable that the series has had a spotty record after Vesperia), so maybe people are just getting burnt out on this generation of Tales games by now. :P

An import thread probably won't be that active, especially with the shorter localization gap, but someone was planning to put together a small OT for it next month anyway right? I forgot who.

Gotta keep the option around as a potential method of getting people to double dip on the game if they also recycle/rerelease this 12-15 months after the original version.

Might also be that they think it'll do well enough domestically that they're ok with not (immediately) making it cross-gen.
 
Saw the scan of the new alt costumes.

...Sorey doesn't look that bad in Yuri's costume to be honest. Edna looks identical to Elize, so yay for that I guess. Every one else is alright, but holy crap Dezel looks stupid in Luke's costume.

No one can look bad in Yuri's costume, it's the costume of the best Tales char after all.

Well, PS3 is definitely winding down in Japan as well. Problem is there is still no equal replacement in sight in the console space, none of the following gen systems sells enough to have a significantly sized audience in Japan yet.

If you order the special edition from Play-Asia, you'll get it (you can scroll down to the descriptions to see what's included). At least that's been my experience a fair time ago.

There are probably cheaper places though, like Amazon.

The limited edition is 140 bucks haha. I wasn't sure if the regular editions of the game came with any pre-order bonuses or if they were retailer specific.
 
Pre-order quick the standard edition and you'll get the bonus hi-ougi.
If you get the limited edition you're guaranteed to get it. Famitsu DX Pack or Lalabit Market, pick your side.

I prefer the Lalabit Market one myself.

Yeah, thanks for nothing Bamco. Alisha's cameo costumes is my most hated character in the entire series. I'll even take bloomers instead of seeing Cheria :P

He saved me from looking at Asbel clothes in Graces F, I didn't like his default costume at all :P

OVA seems quite cool. It'd be awesome if they bring it to the West for the Day-One edition.

Isn't the special included in the game? Hopefully that'll be carried over to the West.

And I wish Edna got Elize's ToX2 costume instead of the ugly ToX one.

Sounds like it'll come bundled with the game on a hybrid Blu Ray. So not sure if it's on the same one or if they'll be tossing in another Blu Ray in the base game.

No idea what Bamco's going to do with it though. They did have an anime division so releasing anime wouldn't be unknown to them.

I feel Elize's ToX costume was one of the more solid ones in that game. Her and Alvin's base costumes were top notch.
 
Shocker on the costumes. As a friend of mine was saying, they probably chose that set because it let them recycle assets from Xillia 1 and 2. Zestiria seems to run on the same engine.

I am so tired of Leon and Yuri costumes. Another friend of mine had a great suggestion, though: give everyone a Leon and Yuri set. Then have other costumes that acknowledge that there were more Tales games than Phantasia, Destiny, and Vesperia.

I'd love to see more Eternia and Rebirth costumes, for instance. Sometimes it's like they pretend those games don't exist. Aside from Leia getting Farah's outfit, I can't think of anything Eternia-related. We haven't had interesting cameo costumes since Vesperia PS3, it seems.

Between Xillia 2's ridiculous padding and these recycled costumes, I'm really starting to think Namco's just super lazy and keeps trying to see how low they can set the bar before fans notice.

Nakiri Yuri and Leon Doll sets. Why just get costumes when you can now just play as them!

Nice, I used it too, although I dislike Graces F quite a bit, hearing the same guys are designing the combat for Zestiria makes me sad :/

OVA is gonna get fansubbed a few days after the game comes out probably.
