New GTA5 patch improves controls and fixes tree animation

"Wow delayed again? Even next gen consoles get it before us? Fuck Rockstar, I'm ONLY buying this on a 50 cents Steam sale and that's if they're lucky."

"Wow thanks for beta testing my game, peasants. Can't wait for January #masterrace #gabeN"

Hahahah :D

It's pretty funny how their attitudes change.
Neither of those are realistic portrayals of what's been said, sorry.

And yea, I've gotta agree as a PC gamer that its nice to have these issues being sorted out on other platforms before it releases for us. I'm sure you'd feel the same way if things were reversed.

So, I'm not a big shooter guy, but I loved playing through GTA V in first person, even with the deadzone issue. So, what settings would you guys recommend for this?

I also admit that I still hope there's a little, not sure how to put this, "weight" to the movement. I kind of appreciated that compared to the super fast, super reflexive movement in other shooters. But maybe I'm weird. I think that has more to do with how the character moves though, compared to the aiming controls, so I think I'll really appreciate some of these settings.

Rockstar... did something about the controls... in their videogames?

Holy shit.

I take some of all the horrible things I've said over the years back.

"Wow 900P 30FPS? How dare they! It should be 1080P, clearly these are lazy devs."

"Wow it runs at 1080P 60FPS? They should downgrade the framerate so we can get better visuals!"

"Wow it's not available on Playstation Plus? Well I'll wait until I can get it for free from Playstation Plus!"

etc.

Can some explain that auto-centring fix, what was the problem? Still haven't played it yet.

Before this patch, if you moved the camera around and started walking, the camera would auto-center. Now, you can walk around while the camera stays where you want it to.

Now all they need to do is let us turn it off for every view.

Wait... you can use FPS controls in TPV now? Unless I'm mistaken here, holy crap.

This is amazing! No more hold x to run bullshit! Thank Christ. Thanks R*.

Actually, I've seen variations on that "steam sale" line he posted from some ragers unhappy at the PC delay.

Might be exaggerated in impact's post, but it's not a million miles away from some of what's actually been posted that I've seen either.

I really doubt its a deadzone and acceleration problem that this game is having. It clearly is input lag and therefore this will fix nothing.

That's been there since release. :P

Also, can anyone tell me the different between 'Standard FPS controls' and 'Standard FPS controls 2'?

I really doubt its a deadzone and acceleration problem that this game is having. It clearly is input lag and therefore this will fix nothing (regarding the input lag problem)

It was a mix of all three of those things. There's still some input delay, as is normal for 30fps games, but turning the dead-zone slider all of the way down improves the controls greatly, telling us that it was indeed a dead-zone issue. A least in part.

So this makes shooting/aiming in 1st person viable now? (Without relying on lock on)

This is insane that they actually listened to something so specific from fans and promptly (relatively speaking) threw up a fix

Awesome R* is awesome :)

So the fact that I move the analogue stick a little to the left or right and absolutely nothing happens is infinite input lag?

You console people are still beta testing my PC game, thanks guys!

I'm glad they got this sorted relatively fast though after the complaints started popping up, didn't really expect them to do anything about the controls.

Uh, yeah, actually they are/were. I quoted one for your education straight from this thread. And the second one, I saw constantly being said on this forum and other places. Over and over how they were just going to wait for it cheap on steam because f*** rockstar. And that is if they weren't threatening to just download a torrent of it to make sure Rockstar didn't get any money (funny no one was willing to outright boycott it though. Just steal it if they didn't want to give rockstar money at all or at best wait til it was dirt cheap on steam so at least it was legal/moral).

The first one is accurate. The other ones... I haven't heard people say that at all.

I've never heard anyone bitch the second though honestly I prefer better visuals over 60 FPS but I accept I'm wierd in the gaming world but I've never gone on a rant about it or expected it. Just prefer it *shrug*).

And the last one, maybe for other games? (I don't even think I've heard people get snippy about it not being available right away on plus but I've certainly heard them say they'll wait. But they aren't angry about it). But I have yet to hear one person say they'll wait for GTA on PS+ (and honestly, I think they'd have to be pretty naive to think they're going to get GTA V on PS+. Maybe one day when it's really old and out of date. I mean I guess i do have GTA Tales of Liberty City on my Vita from PS+ but it was a PSP game and I think pretty old now).

Yes, an exaggeration. So when you're trying to show the 'attitude change', it doesn't do you credit to exaggerate things. Not to mention that its a few sparse posts compared to this one post and suddenly the *entire* PC gaming community has had an attitude change?

Nah, what we have here is just impact showing his chip on his shoulder for PC gamers as we've seen many times.

'You console people' is not the same as saying 'peasants' or #masterrace or whatever. Not even close, c'mon.

And saying they'll get it cheaper later on is not "I'll buy it for 50 cents." Only ever saw one person say anything about pirating it, as well.

You realize PC gamers aren't a hivemind, right?

So you're saying there's this nefarious cabal called "PC Gamers" who will constantly bleat about the superiority of their platform, talk about waiting for price drops, and threaten to torrent the game? Man, call the internet police, this sounds like some shady shit. Maybe you should also complain about last-gen console owners, considering 360 games would usually be leaked and torrented a week before release.

This PC master race shit is getting tiresome.

Looking forward to seeing the game in action, skipped it on ps3 and will be getting it for Christmas

Most probably not, since that patch doesn't seem to fix the input lag.

Why are you giving opinions without having played the game with the latest patch applied? I played it earlier today with the patch applied and FPV is definitely playable now. It's a lot smoother and more responsive. You only have to touch the right stick and your gun/camera will move on-screen. As I said above, there's still some input delay, but no more than what you'd find in any other 30fps game.

Feel kinda silly now for saying they wouldn't fix this. If the improvements feel anything like the PS3 version did, I'll be happy

That's been there since release. :P

Idk... seems like there are quite a few more options available here now. But maybe I missed that somehow.

Either way... game is seriously playable now (for me) and I'm super excited to finally ne able to not think about the controls and just have fun with it.

GG R*

Game still has a little bit of input delay, but the controls are seriously 99% better than they were.

Lol, this also works the other way round, particularly with the abundance of Steam Early Access titles heading to PS4. It works for everyone

Nah, just the master race douches. PC is my main plataform

I just find it funny if you go look at the thread where PC got delayed to 2015 the amount of salt could fill a master race ocean. Now it's a great thing because of console beta testers. lol

Yeah so some advice.

Deadzone zero. Acceleration max. Sensitivity to you own taste.

Usually I hate the feeling of any acceleration and would just turn it off, but the way they are doing things in GTA you actually want to crank it all the way up to make it "disappear" if that makes any sense.

So are these the exact same people saying this stuff? Or just a couple? Or completely different people? Are they, shall we say, a "Hive Mind"?

Again, we're not a hivemind(nor did anybody say 'master race' anywhere except the people whining about master race, which is almost always the case). Find any specific people contradicting themselves if you like, but you're going off ONE post here and trying to pass it off as a wholesale attitude change from PC gamers. Just stop.

EDIT: Doesn't look like PC is your main platform to me, either. You play a grand total of TWO games on PC from what I can tell - Dark Souls and Counterstrike.

When you guys say they improved the controls is because of that problem of imput lag people complained in that huge thread here? Is that fixed?

I have game here waiting to get played i am just finishing DA:inquisition to play GTA, i hope the imput lag is fixed then :D

Yeah it seems backwards but that's definitely how it works with this game. Acceleration being high is a must.

I really doubt its a deadzone and acceleration problem that this game is having. It clearly is input lag and therefore this will fix nothing.

I always figured it was mostly just a deadzone and acceleration issue. This patch seems to confirm my suspicions.

Try it yourself.

Yeah, I'd listen to this advice. The aiming sensitivity is the thing you should tweak, not the acceleration slider.

They still have auto level/camera center in TPV and driving, which kinda sucks though.

I know. :(

Hopefully this is next to be fixed.

FPV Mode was always playable to me, even in Free Roam. By setting the aiming sensitivity down, much lower than look sensitivity, it changed a lot. Everything, actually, It played beautifully to me, I had no problem playing as I always have. I can't wait to see how this patch "fixed the unplayable controls".

When you guys say they improved the controls is because of that problem of imput lag people complained in that huge thread here? Is that fixed?
Its adjustable, so if you were having issues, you can now fix them. If you were fine before(which many said they were), then you don't need to bother.

And it sounds like input lag was never the issue at all, but too large a deadzone.

Is this a current gen only patch, or will they patch the extra content and third online safehouse slot into the last gen version?

In all sci-fi books I read about hiveminds, they had superior intelligence so not really.

So you don't realise that they're not a hivemind?

Still doesn't fix the horrid input lag though :/

It's better in first person, but still unplayable to me. I still can't drive cars without running into everything.
