Legend of Korra Book 4: Balance |OT| A Feast of Crows

Lol nope. Book 1 was originally intended to be a one off miniseries before Nick decided to renew it for another three seasons. Hence the rushed ending as they weren't expecting another season and tried to wrap everything up.
They also intended to have each season be standalone with new villains and plots every season before I guess changing their minds and adding a bit more continuity between the seasons.
Season 1 would still be considered the starting season though. If they knew they had 3 seasons to do afterwards 4-2-3 just seemed to make abit more sense. It's still 'standalone' but it just continues off from the previous one better. Of course there would be things that would have been handled differently.

How I see it is that after season one, you leave Republic City in turmoil, you still have the aspect of someone uniting them, end with Republic City being at peace after defeating bad guy, ditch the new spirit portal thing, and season 2 and 3 would stay relatively the same. I suppose the first 2 seasons would be very similar and repetitive though.

Whatevs, it's over now. The only good qualities of the show, IMO, was the animation, the beautiful backgrounds and the music.

Actually they have been hinting and building up to this for about two seasons.

True. Had Asami been a dude, 'Korra Alone' would have cemented this.

I think it is incredibly difficult to write homosexual romance when you are not sure if the audience is receptive. You are either too subtle or too overbearing.

Bryke seem to have settled on a third way: Super subtle, then midly bearing.

The Creators are known for trolling shippers. Zutarra got trolled to hell and back, all the while fans of the ship where pointing at every interaction between those two characters as proof they Zuko and Katara had romantic feelings for each other. Much like what happen with Korrasami.

With the way that Nick handled Korra, I don't think it gave room to the creators for doing what they wanted to do. In an alternate future, where all 4 books were planned from the beginning, I am hopeful that this would've been better implied through all 4 books (as well as a more coherent and thought-out story and plot, among other things...)

Agreed, it makes me wish the writing had been better in a lot of other places.

Tbh I o agree with Azula on Korrasami for the most part. I dunno, I guess its neat that they did it. I don't mind. But...

Maybe if they had planned it from the beginning. Instead we just got teases springing up from no where.

Yeah, that's my problem with it. The dialogue at the wedding suggested it had been a relationship that had been going on for years....but the way it was revealed to the viewer just felt very forced...a forced afterthought, even.
The final scene is pretty much "Oh, by the way, Korrasami is a thing. The End".

Maybe it's a cultural thing but I don't get why we HAVE to see characters kiss to establish that they have romantic feelings for each other.

"good friends":

"cousins":

"comrades":

last one is a bit of a spoiler for people who are waiting for the second season. Not much but yeah....

edit: actually I don't even know where it's from so nvm. You never know with the drawings.

Me too. But thinking that way leads to the path of Veelk
love you man
.

I try not to take my Animu too seriously. Single Camera Sitcoms and Novels are another story though...

Yeah. I think it was kinda forced just like all the romance in the show. 0-100 hella fast. Aang and Katara for example. Just unnecessary.

The more I think about it... yoooo... they up and did it, didn't they? *applause*

That thing ramped up real quick. I thought a close side-hug or an embrace would have sufficed.

Nope. Full on tongue-kissing.

I think it more "let's throw a bone to this voice part of the fan base."

They held hands
They looked at each other.

I just don't see anything "official" about it.

Aang's journey just happens to be better written.

I agree with this, which is unfortunate since i think the stuff going on from the previous Korra seasons were interesting to see how it would be dealt with as the Avatar.

It's hard to say if it really was lightning in a bottle because how it was created was way different than Korra.. We do know Bryke ain't replicating it with their half-assed writing if they really tried for it with a 13 ep format.

I still wonder if they took that shit as their own so as to not throw nick under the bus.

Because man i ain't no writer but it looked obvious that these stories seemed too big for what they had (all these fucking extra characters that amount to nothing, lack of fleshing out the existing characters, etc).

Those things right there are your official acknowledgment of couple-hood since they can't have Korra and Asami tonguing each other quite yet.

That's how I took it. It's still 2014 and we still aint at the point where they could have kissed. So the creative team got as close as they possibly could.

I feel really meh about that finale, usually shows ending leaves me with a big empty feeling but I just feel meh. Also it really felt more like a season ending than a series finale.

The implication is clearly with that Korra/Asami ending shot mirroring Aang/Katara, didn't think they'd actually appease the Korra/Asami shippers like that.

How was that forced? We've known since episode 1 how Aang felt about Kartara. We knew since episode 2 Katara felt for Aang, the only mystery was what type of feeling Katara had for Anng. Katara and Aang was planed from the beginning and they've had many, many moments and scenes showing their building relationship.

Korra and Asami build a fantastic friendship. Anything more then that was just people seeing what they wanted to see.

Okay, even if you want to throw this into the realm of ambiguity, to say that people are just seeing what they want to see is disingenuous when clearly there is a lot to the relationship that can and is interpreted as romantic.

If I had to rank the three finales I watched today they would be:

The Colbert Report
The Hobbit
Korra
Me receiving my final grades in my college life and being set to graduate tomorrow

They could have at least gone further to show a kiss.

Korra was no longer on TV and I think the remaining audience who cared to keep up with the online releases would be mature enough to handle it.

Re-watching the scene and yep that is correct.

Thanks for double checking. Yup as I said I definitely think they showed Korra to be extremely strong.

Most likely not going to get another avatar series for quite a while. There will still be comics coming out though.

Yeah, I think they'll do one eventually though (I hope).

Hopefully Korra gets some books now too to go with the nice ATLA ones. They'd probably be able to indulge a bit more in the main four together on some new missions if able to fully control the speed of things which I'd still definitely enjoy seeing more of.

I think at the end, the best thing we got of the whole series was more development into bloodbending. The twist of seeing Tarrlok blood bend Korra is still one of the best moments of the show to me, funny how I didn't like him much back then, but in hindsight, he is an amazing character compared to Kuvira.

congrats, welcome to real life! (it sucks)

tarrlok was a great villian. they could've done an entire season on him, with the next about amon.

thanks guys. It's been a hard fucking couple of years, all set to graduate as a civil engineer.

And Shard just remember.

We'll meet again, don't know where don't know when

Not sure what to make of the position of last one but congrats man

I'm disappointed it didn't raise my GPA, but it didn't lower it either. So it's a big meh, but eh I didn't really need a GPA bump. Would've been nice though.

Indeed, well, being realistic I know when we will meet again, but I understand the sentiment nonetheless.

Only if you live on the internet. Every that was shown about their 'relationship' showed them as being close(best) friends. Although I can totally see the ambiguity. But like I said. Mike and Bryan love Trolling shippers.

At this point Korrasami is no more official then Tokka or Zutara was.

Really liked this neat little bending move from Bolin in the finale.

Nice. You are in for a treat.

Mako ruined dick for both Korra and Asami dam

I didn't like the finale at all, other than being progressive in a sense it was a big letdown all around.
