Legend of Korra Book 4: Balance |OT| A Feast of Crows

I actually really liked the scene where Mako had to charge up his lightning. In ATLA every character that wants to shoot lighting has to do a long winding charge up which added a lot of weight and emphasis on the skill. In Korra, if I recall correctly, every time we see lightning someone just blasts it out with no build up. So when I saw this scene I was really happy that they were really emphasizing the importance of that technique again.

Same. I really liked that in ATLA It really made lightning feel like a lvl100 spell, and they added to the mystique and power by it's limited availability to select members of the royal family; even Zuko wasn't taught it. I hated that scene in S1 Korra where you see a whole bunch of mooks using lightining to weld.

So what animation are you guys moving on to next?

Those looking for a Western produced, anime-inspired, lighthearted action/adventure sort of in the same vein as the ATLA series should check out Wakfu. Both seasons are on Netflix, but the English dub is terrible. Those interested will want to go for the original French dialogue with subs instead.

I really liked the finale (counting 12 and 13 as a whole here).
The stuff with Kuvira giving up so easy might seem silly but after Korra saved Kuvira from the spirit beam and came out of it fine I think she knew that Korra could beat her. If Korra can just block Kuvira's super doomsday device and still stand afterwards and have a chat then I think she thought "well, I'm fucked". I still think Kuvira got off lightly and I wonder how things would be if Korra just turned away after the spirit beam was heading for Kuvira. Like a "I'm not going to kill destroy you but I'm not going to save you" sort of thing.

I liked the whole plan to take down the mech, I liked how everyone worked together and did cool stuff, I like how Bolin turned out to be the best, liked the Varric and Zhu Li thing liked the Korrasami, liked how Wu grew as a character even if his development was super obvious from the moment he was introduced, liked the badger moles.

Thought it was a strong finale apart from Kuvira giving up but she was never a strong villian. She was just evil because they needed an evil person and didn't want to humanise the character until right at the end (but only 2 lines worth). It was an entertaining watch with lots of action. Not on the level of ATLA's finale but great. not counting the "end of a series" bits (Korrasami, party, loose ends wrapping up) It probably wasn't as good as Book 3's ending (ignoring the sock) but better than the rest of Korra.

(despite saying my last post was last. XD)

Uh... Log Horizon, really liking Season 2 thus far and a new episode comes out tomorrow! :D

Also need to get caught up and Ace of the Diamond and Yowapeda, and probably find more stuff to watch while on I'm on winter break. :O

damn, this gif gets better animated every time I see it:

Now that it's official, this fanbase is going to be churning out some serious (and questionable) fan art.

Just watched the last couple episodes, and it was great. Here's to hoping there's some chance these guys will make the show again, but under a new network / distribution. (If that's even possible.) For me, the best moments were Verrick asking Zhu Li to "do the thing" as a marriage proposal, Mako's lightning, and implied Korrasami shipping.

Korrasami is awesome.

But they were churning out questionable fanart before Korrasami became canon.

But now the context fits.

Alright let's talk about the positive things about this finale:

* Mako using lighting
* Varrick wedding and doing the thing!
* The action set pieces were fun.
* Korrasami. Despite my issues with it, it was still two characters that were happy. And it was nice to see that.

I'm kind of sad i don't have a positive for Bolin. He was kind of just there. I guess we didn't get any bird calls? A positive?
Where's Kuvira bro?

So, uh, the fight scenes were incredible.

The rest... well, I won't say I'm glad to see the series end, but this is a good point to do so.

I don't know, nothing western that I can think of. I'll keep watching Gundam Build Fighters Try, but thats 11 episodes in and I'm still waiting for it to be half as good as the first season.

The ending for Korra really put me in a mood, it could either lead to me taking a break from cartoons for a while because I have this sour taste in my mouth, or I'll binge watch a million shows to try and make up for Korra's shortcomings.

Book 4 had already gone down that route beforehand, pretty much, so I'm not so upset. Just like you I think it had the Summer Blockbuster thing going on full blast, and that's all I was hoping for as this season wrapped up.

It was apparent early on we weren't going to get Book 3-level of amazing.

This helped me too I knew to have different expectations for Book 4 not really going for that level of epic as it got going due to how they were doing Kuvira and the pacing of Korra's recovery, but as the last season I'm glad they did give it a little Summer Blockbuster at the end, it was necessary and good to see action like that one more time, and they did it so well.

Beside all of that, I love both of these series for different reasons. Sure, it would be nice if the Legend of Korra had characters as well made as AtLA. But there are things in Korra that I like much better than in AtLA. I'm glad I can enjoy both.

Same here. Also, for the most part, I do feel atleast Korra herself did mostly reach that level. As others have said numerous times, a smaller cast might have helped especially given the runtime and more contained seasons.

I'm sad it's over, but it was a beautiful story, despite some disappointements (hey second season! I'm lookin' at ya!). Also,
Korrasami? YES!

Agreed. Quite enjoyed it overall despite some problems and would have liked more. I'm so not ready to leave this awesome universe.

I agree. Read was this man has to say.

I suppose I should see why people keep praising Clone Wars. Didn't like the handful of episodes I saw, but it apparently gets amazing, and aside from the movies, it's the only holdover in Star Wars canon.

I liked it at times but wasn't crazy about it, but I do agree with the general opinion that it gets better as it goes though.

Edit: Especially as some of it gets somewhat darker as JadedWriter said. I also enjoyed Asohka's development.

I'd be worried that even if Nick ever gave the go ahead for more Avatar they'd either completely ignore or retcon Korrasami. I don't think that Nick, or Disney and CN for that matter have been progressive at all when it comes to homosexuality on their networks.

I hate shipping but I hate pointless retcons even more. If the creators put it in the Canon it should stay.

Was a bit annoying that the fire nation was pretty much non existent, even through Izumi had agree to help for defense. FN sure got the short end of the stick in this series, and that a bit sad, but oh well.

And heh I started watching Kill La Kill yesterday, and man that show is insane.XD Looking forward to going through it.

For western animation I've still got these show going.

- Gravity Falls
- Adventure Time
- Steven Universe
- Regular Show
- Clarence
- Bobs Burgers
- American Dad
- Mickey Mouse shorts

Going to probably get around to watching Star Wars Rebels soon enough also.

Maybe the Fire Nation operates the same way that Metropolis did when it was being controlled by the Justice Lords in that arc during Justice League. Enjoy Kill La Kill.

That shit was off the hook. I'm just a little disappointed that we didn't get an epilogue scene. I was even waiting to see if there was an after credits scene. What happened to Bolin and Opal?

That show is so much fun :D And yeah, totally insane! lol.

You see Opal dragging Bolin towards the dance floor at the wedding. Shame we didn't get to see some Bolin dance moves.

The more I think about it, the more the Korrasami at the end seems kind of out of nowhere. There wasn't really any exposition about how Asami has always been there for Korra or vice versa or anything.

Which brings me to one conclusion, that they professed their love for one another in those letters or something.

Gentlemen, after Korra, get yourself to Young Justice.

The good show where the only disappointment is that it never got it's third season and in contrast to Korra should've run longer.

im happy that korra and asami finally get to be happy
they have both been thru some shit

now if i could get lin to get happy too... i was shook when she was just staring at a kebab by herself at the end. i know she's old but Bumi probably has that good dick. snatch it queen.

First time this thread has made me laugh. I've been pretty silent on Korra and Asami, but shiiiit, I was waiting for that shit. Mmm, mm.

Oh god some of these articles I am reading about the finale are so dumb. They sweep flaws under the rug so easily cause "omg it is so progressive for a kidz show", it's like what happened with The Last of Us with the lesbian dlc, although that story and relationship was much much better.

only season 1 is on netflix, and Superboy is infuriating. It's pretty decent besides him though, although the "Hello Meagan" stuff is

Oh shit they gave Young Justice proper animation, looks nice. I was traumatized by Teen Titans go animation and just thought they cheeped out on Young Justice, looks worth watching.

So is this confirmed to be the last avatar content ever? Or is there a chance of them continuing the universe on another network.

Rohan's appearance at the end reminded me that he existed. There was a lot of that this season.

"Hi, Kya. Bye, Kya."
"Hi, Kai. Bye, Kai."
"Hi, Bumi. Bye, Bumi."
"Zaheer is nice now! Bye, Zaheer!"

I certainly liked this season better than season two, but there was so much "throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks" that it's hard for me to love it. Looking back, A:TLA was a phenomenal show; I think I'll look back on Korra as the enjoyable but all-over-the-place experiment that followed.
