So this whole thread has boiled down to who's "real" or "fake".. That's what I'm getting from this. For a moment I thought it was something important.

One day people will realize the distinction between faking in being a coke kingpin and faking in being a Southern rapper when you're a white person from Australia, and how one has a more drastic impact than the other.

And I see you don't have shit else to say of relevance then, since you don't actually know what you're talking about and can't come up with a counterpoint to anything anyone might have said about him? His resume speaks for itself.

Or are you just trolling at this point?

lets just say u aspire to different things than I and leave it at that son

nah mean?

So Solange has entered the arena

Shit just got real.

Uh oh.

Everyone better watch what they say, and stay the fuck away from elevators.

Iggy is trash, Banks is trash. Let's get that out the way first.

Anyone who has listened to more than a couple recent Bronson songs knows he doesn't sound like Ghostface.

Finally, Banks is a bitter piece of shit. She destroyed her own career by burning every bridge imaginable, now wants to blame it all on racism. Fuck her and everyone who supports her bullshit. If you like her music that's fine, but if you agree with her race shit you lost. White people making hip hop is NOT cultural appropriation, nor is it stealing. Hip hop is art and culture, anyone can fuck with it. There are plenty of dope white hip hop artists - Alchemist, El-p, Kno, etc. Iggy is not a hip hop artist, she's a failed model who decided to rap as a last ditch effort to get famous. She can't rap, can't sing, can't dance, has a shitty personality, and is overall just trash. But she's popular because she acquired a couple dope hooks from Charlie XYZ or whatever the fuck her name is, and because she's white.

Finally on the Grammys...who fucking cares. The Grammys are decided by old white people who don't know shit about multiple genres of music - especially rap and metal. Elton John could release a rap album and win best rap album because the voters would be familiar with him. I remember in 2006 or 2007 when Ludacris won best rap album over The Roots' Game Theory, one of the best rap albums of the decade. They don't know shit about rap, who gives a shit. And yes, Iggy will probably win multiple awards because the voters "know" her and can identify with her. I don't care.

So much truth in this post especially Game Theory losing to the worst Ludacris album in his whole career.

Chicken and Beer>>>>>

Harsh as fuck but I see you for once.

Yeah you haven't really read any posts in this thread. It isn't white vs black music.
It kinda is, from Bank's perspective anyway. They said so themselves.

Read a transcript of the interview, read some of her quotes. She's definitely of "that" mentality, the kind I was referring to in the previous post that's really damaging yet she's hardly alone in having that opinion. It pervades the entire scene of mainstream music in America.

I'm more on the macro level with this stuff; whereas others are talking about it from a sense of cultural appropriation and points that seem to wholeheartedly believe there are tangible, scientifically-existing things like "black music" or "white music" or whatever, my opinion (more of a fact honestly) is that those things simply don't exist. You're identifying cultures and communities through melody so fiercely that you're subconsciously making yourself think that these things actually exist on a scientific and genetic level, and you're not even aware of it.

The same problem occurs when talking about race because race,...doesn't scientifically exist, either. Not as we use it when describing people, unless you want to pretend some of us are dogs and others are flamingos or hippos and such.

It's a political construct, but by referring to it as such so often you're actually subconsciously telling yourself it exists genetically on some level, without even being aware of such. So it kind of erodes actual efforts to fight against it when you take the basis of championing for the rights of others in spite of differences that, surprise, you believe to exist on the genetic level b/c you have been using a political/social construct definition to refer to them for so damn long!

You can end up doing the exact same thing when talking about cultural appropriation, as some people already have in this thread. I'm just saying it's wrong, and it's sad. It's messed up but, sometimes I don't think well-meaning people think of how much they're indirectly feeding into the things they want to fight against.

Except for the Bronson part. He does kind of sound like old Ghost.

That's about the only thing I took from her tears on HOT97. She's very black vs. white on this.

Yeah Iggy is fake, but since when has that been a new thing to rap? Tons of rappers embellish or out right lie about coming from "the struggle". And even then, being "hood" doesn't really mean much. People grew tired of listening to "hood" rap, hence why people like Kanye, Kid cudi, K.Dot, Lupe, Gambino, etc became so popular and mainstays. Iggy is trash but then so is Banks, Nicki, etc. And yeah, Iggy says some o.c things, and she should be called out for it, but most people don't seem to mind since she still gets play and is somewhat relevant (disgustingly so).

Hip-Hop and Rap are just not representative of black culture. Sure, it has a lot to do with black culture but people need to remember its history. Hip-Hop and Rap came from a huge struggle in NYC were there was hopelessness and the youth wanted a way to speak out about it. Hip-Hop and Rap was created in the South Bronx and as much a black people had to do with it, so did Puerto Ricans and to a lesser extent so did Cubans (mambo dancing heavily influenced break dancing). I get what Banks is saying and its true that credit is often taken away from better deserving rappers and given to mediocre ones, but she is hardly the person who should be stating the plight of black culture. And that's to say, Hip-Hop isn't just about Black Culture, as most things that originate from NYC it is truly a melting pot of ideas and cultures.

Who cares if white people rap and get props for it. Sometimes people want to hear guys from the burbs and from rural areas want to say. Hell, i'd rather listen to lil dicky and action bronson than most popular rap acts anyways. And if rappers or black people are mad because the mainstream media is dissing black artists and contributions, well then that's on them. Why do I say that? Because the mainstream media has been doing this since forever. If people haven't realized this by now then they are fools. Stop looking for verification from the very people and sources who will never give you that.

Yep.

No, I don't.

Clarify it, instead of dancing around with meaningless statements.

ok let me put it this way

when it boils down to inspirational music, people like action, eminem, izzy are ur role models. and thats perfectly fine and your prerogative.

action, eminem and izzy don't mean shit to me.

nahm sayin?

who knows but the truth is the truth. so i know all you fans up in here can't wait for the realness huh?

LOL@ya

I haven't replied to any of your posts because none of them make sense. I had to this time.

What the hell are you on about? This seems like a troll account. Honestly, I can't comprehend what you're trying to convey by saying that, with a picture of gucci mane.

Why would anyone come to Azaleia Banks defense? banks was defending scum of the earth Bill Cosby claiming the women Cosby raped were "asking for it". That should have been a career ender for her.

You know, Australians have their own fucked up context of race relations, but Iggy's done decent to not do that shit so often. It's just amazing that she's also being blasted for sounding black (even though she rapped in Atlanta for years) and having a popular song. Banks' beef about the Grammy's is so shallow--she wanted a nomination (even thought BWET came out after the eligibility period)--but has managed to turn the entire focus on Iggy being recognized for "musical excellence" (like the Grammy's are objective). Fancy was just a crossover hit--it's not even up for a rap genre Grammy.

And as tough as it is to be an Iggy fan, it's way tougher being a Banks fan. Broke is a cool album, but it's just has hard to separate her from the homophobic, transphobic, racist, and just playing shitty arguments she's brought up. And a big lol at Anonymous saying it'll be a Cosby-level leak. Is Banks gonna stand up for Iggy then?

I dunno, am I being #NotAllWhites?

Can somebody elaborate this to me like I'm a 4th grader...why the hell does a Bronson/Ghostface comparison have to do with anon "exposing" Iggy?

Deep, but its a lot easier said than done.

Especially when, for so long, the Raison d'être for many brothers is to prove they are "Not like those niggas over there". When you internalize your inferiority, the battle is loss.

Who the hell said either were my role models?

So Game Theory is the best album that came out that year? Because I loved that fucking album and it was shit on by everyone even 2 years after as not being Illadelph. (Which was a lame album btw)

LOL

Why would anyone come to Azaleia Banks defense? banks was defending scum of the earth Bill Cosby claiming the women Cosby raped were "asking for it". That should have been a career ender for her.
Azalea Banks burned so many bridges down that it amazes me that she's still around. More power to her, I guess.

Why would anyone come to Azaleia Banks defense? banks was defending scum of the earth Bill Cosby claiming the women Cosby raped were "asking for it". That should have been a career ender for her.
“But I like really older white guys. Not, like, really old, like 50s and 60s, but late 30s, 40s. Maybe early 50s. I did date a guy in his 50s. That’s, like, my thing."

Kinda weird statement :Kermit

Can somebody elaborate this to me like I'm a 4th grader...why the hell does a Bronson/Ghostface comparison have to do with anon "exposing" Iggy?

since i hurt a few feelings about rappers who are lame as fuck. and are just carbon copies of black counter-parts, who would wipe the fucking floor from their feet with authenticity.

that's why.

Exactly.

She's said some vile shit in the past. I completely wrote her off being a gay male, I'm not about her bullshit even if she tries to back peddle to appease the fanbase. Sad thing is, just because she put out a decent album, some gays are eating that shit up. It was annoying but after the Cosby thing, it really pushed it over the edge for me. She could have the best album of the year and I still wouldn't promo that shit.

Bronson was drug into one of Banks' rants accidentally by some random broad.
He told the random not to slander him online.
Banks proceeded to rip his ass apart by calling him a Ghostface clone among other things.
Banks wants to destroy Iggy and Anon is piggybacking.

LOL

Smh it was a shame. The only reason why that album got so much flack because "they sold out" to Def Jam. People were so butthurt about them leaving their roots *no pun* and venturing out to try a different sound. The album is probably their best work next to Rising Down.

Why should I care about authenticity in my entertainment? It's entertainment. I don't think it ever has factored into my enjoyment of a song or work.

I don't see the comparison at all. Bronson sounds more like Capadonna who sounds more like a usual NY rapper.

They did a song together and it's clear that they don't sound alike...but that's just me though *shrugs*

Not even a troll but a caricature of a fucking troll. Goddamn, man. Get it together...

Banks is misguided, but I will have to agree with her on her assessment of Clifford Harris.

I ran into his entourage at lennox mall once, and these people proceeded to be allowed to skip everybody in line at Great American Cookies, and then patronized people by talking and acting like he cared about anything we were saying as he cut in line. He really did sound like he had just escaped off some kind of Farm. Didnt understand a word he said when he talked to me and my girlfriend before proceeding to give me a fist bump and go to the front of the line. Any person who has to use their star quality to skip in line at a mall to get some sweets is obviously a Dbag.

Ingredients to be successful in mainstream hip hop

1. A good beat

2. A catchy hook

3. An image

4. Luck

Lyrics don't mean a damn thing. Pitbull, Fat Joe, and Flo-Rida for example, sound like shit. They recycle the same meaningless lyrics into every song, but they make big hits because they always have catchy hooks and good beats.

Anyone can do it. Banks is a joke.

Music is entertainment. I don't care how"authentic" the author is. And by this post do you mean black when you say authentic?

Man so many opinions in this thread are smh (and IDGAF if you're black. Shit matters not) acting like the fucking gate keepers of hip-hop and calling labeling all artists who happen to be white as culture appropriators. Get out with that bullshit. Hip-hop isn't for blacks only. The same people who have this mentality are the same remedial cats who cry about how come white people won't let them join in their reindeer games. You can't have it both ways, fuck. Action Bronson, El-P, Eminem should not be mentioned with Iggy at all. Unlike Iggy those artists formed their sound based off of their upbringing and we're they're from. And these Action Bronson = the white Ghostface...get the fuck outta here. Go back to listening to whatever the fuck it is you listen to because you clearly don't listen to Hip-Hop. Fucks remind me of those 'comicbook readers' on GAF who talk about how they stopped reading comics are the Black Panther/Silver Surfer armbar page fuck outta here with that poser shit.

Iggy is no more ATL than I am in Australia. Australia has a pretty big hip-hop scene with a number of artists doing their thing, her whole ALT shtick is wack as fuck. This would be like me blowing up and acting like I'm Australian complete with the accent. Fuck outta here with that wack ass nonsense.

And people who co-sign on Azeliea's racist shit should be ejected from space shuttle. No one took shit from Banks, that idiot burned bridges all on her own attacking every single fucking artist who ever mentioned her or helped her. Fuck her and her remedial fans who ride her coattails and cosign her racist remedial drivel. Both her and her fans are worthless. If banks and her fans are mad that Azalea (Iggy) is has entered B-Tier celebrity status while Banks struggles, they have absolutely no one to blame besides Banks herself. Iggy might be the wackest shit since Millie Vanillie, but Iggy had nothing to do with Banks current situation and lack of presence.

This thread is embarrassing as fuck.

Dude don't come at me like that...I'm not even a fan to start things off, but I actually enjoy listening to his raps from time to time. When he was on the Domo Genesis mixtape, the first thing that didn't came to my mind was "dude sounds like ghostface"...I was more stuck on his line about being the final boss in a Nintendo game.
