What rappers do u listen to?
Who do you listen to? Why haven't I seen any threads by you guys calling out all the black rappers who aren't "real" since that should be seemingly banned? It's funny how far things switch from the rap threads to these threads about what people listen to. Magically now everyone seems to only listen to the realest, hardest underground artists.

While Banks is excessively aggressive and hateful with her attitude, she's mostly referring to Iggy's meticulously crafted persona, with the prime element being her blatantly fake Southern accent. I wish some other artist other than Banks would step up and talk about it, because no one takes Banks seriously at this point with all the bridges she's burnt throughout the years.

Well, Jermaine had a line on his album mocking Iggy, so there's that I guess.

Lmao at Action Bronson's tweet:

@AZEALIABANKS I WILL MELT THOSE LITTLE TITS OFF THAT LITTLE BOY BODY., CHILL. I USED TO ALMOST LIKE YOU.

Ehh, it's clear you only have knowledge of popular rap. Because this statement is ridiculous.

This whole thing has been framed in the context of success and recognition. If you're confused that this was somehow talking about unknown underground artists then I'm not sure what to tell you.

Take a quick look at Banks Twitter account, see how she uses the word "white" as an insult, come back and tell me how it isn't in this particularly case.
Maybe Banks isn't the right person we want to start this discussion but damnit she's the only one with presumably nothing to lose to speak up about it. He's right though, it's not white music versus black music it's about erasure , "bad" art, and the commodifying of it. Iggy Azealia is a fucking Trojan horse for that shit.

you're a hot mess bro

GAF-Hop loves Tony Starks...

Action just sounds like him, his rapping style is more like Pun or even Kool G Rap.

Nowadays, Ghost's voice is different anyway.

Actually you responded to someone that said "not all rappers are fake" with "99.9% of them are."

Maybe you need to articulate yourself better.

No, we've been talking about success and recognition. You need to understand context better if you took that as meaning lesser known artists. The examples have been Kendrik and others who were beaten out by macklemore. The context is clear.

Are you daft?
No....?

Does this mean that a polish artist can't sing reggae, as it "abuses" Jamaican culture? This seems like an odd stance to take.
I honestly know nothing of reggaeton culture.

But a huge portion of rap is about regional sounds. A rapper like Vnasty doesn't generally get shit on because she was actually born in Oakland and grew up in the bay area. There's no wonder why she sounds like shes from the Bay. People don't attack and automatically hate British rappers because generally their rap is a reflection of where they grew up at. People rocked with Shaggy because he raps like he's from Jamaica and actually is.

Rap is a reflection of you and your surroundings.

I swear if someone can dig up a rap related thread without some turd just straight embarrassing himself I will donate $50 to whatever charity you want.

Who are "you guys?"? I was just speaking for myself there because I was generally confused about your claim of "99.999%" of all rappers being fake. Can u elaborate on that?

So are white people not allowed to rap now or something? Or asians or latinos? Shouldn't she be attacking the head honchos giving the awards as they are the ones that she thinks is pushing out the rewards to these white rappers. I don't know man seems like her hate is misplaced here. And white people have been rapping since forever too like what about mc serch etc back in the 80's/90's. Beastie boys? Cmon banks has weird reasoning.
No one accused Eminem, beastie boys, or evenkreayshawn aand lil Debbie of cultural appropriation. They're white people that rap. Iggy is an Australian chick trying to sound like she was raised in the hood. Drake catches the same shit and he's more or less black. Rappers all have their persona but there are limits before people call you on your shit.

He's better than eminem because he has never made racist remarks about brown women while participating in a brown dominated subculture.

If Eminem were African American and said what Em said about black women on tape he would be blacklisted within the hour. When was the last time you heard of slim thug since he made a statement about light skin women being more attractive than dark ones? Em said black women only want your money because they are dumb chicks, and he still have a plantation full of coons listening to his garbage, appearing with him on stage, and working with him. This is clear white privilege.

There are also successful rappers that are authentic. Your statement is ridiculous either way. There are performers which make pop rap. Sure. That's not 99.999999999% of them.

Lupe, Immortal Technique, J Cole, Lauren Hill, Common, etc.

No, we've been talking about success and recognition. You need to understand context better if you took that as meaning lesser known artists. The examples have been Kendrik and others who were beaten out by macklemore. The context is clear.

You were gobsmacked by the fact someone said rap is authentic. It seemed like you were taking a jab at the genre, and not a particular subset of artists in the genre. Instead of just clarifying what you meant, you're telling people the context was already there and we're the idiots for not reading into your bullshit.

Its increasingly stupid in a world where there is less gangsta rap than ever and artists now a days come from mini walks of life. I don't know what's so unbelieveable about a guy like Kendrick or Jcole or someone lime Gambino.

Exactly.

It's amazing how two people named after the same flower can hate each other so much.

The only Iggy anyone should reference to.

Come on, dude. Expand your worldly knowledge. Even that dog is a reference to this guy.

Exactly. Eminem grew up in Detroit. There's a lot of white rappers who get respect, but also give respect to the black community who either adopted them or they have adopted the music.

So it's not only the fact that iggy disrespects the community which she's profiting off, but to make matters worse people are giving her credit where there should probably be none.

This is the same woman who called herself a slave master in the context of rappers.

What are you babbling about? Em said that shit like a million years ago, and since, then, he has never said anything negative about the black culture. Black rappers (except for that trash Banks) acknowledge Em because they know he can murk you on a track, not this dumbass white privilege nonsense you are mumbling.

Its was not a million years ago, and even if it was then so what?

Would a brown guy in a white subculture of music be allowed to stay if made the same remarks about white women? A brown guy in Country would still have an audience if he was on tape saying what em said? It was disgusting.

Black rappers acknowledge him because they are sellouts, who probably grew up in houses worshipping a jesus that looks like eminem.

This is silly as shit.

Action came up through the graffiti arts in NY and ran with a crew that were all about that segment of hip hop, before rap. He's put mad time and love in the culture.

Then there is this: Ghostface Killah - Meteor Hammer (ft. Action Bronson & Termanology)

Wu-Tang never had a problem calling people out and yet...

The only reason he sounds like Ghost, is due to his voice. foh.

they're all lames in my eyes.

mesousa, does slim thug know himself like how pimp c did? if not, i can excuse him if not....

Eminem was and is still constantly accused of cultural appropriation. He was the poster boy for that shit for years.
Is he really? I only see people angry at white fans of Eminem that look at him as the inventor of rap. Em himself sounds authentic when he raps. When he first hit the scene he rapped about drugs and hating his mother and baby mother. He was kinda white trashy and he seemed to be rapping about his life. Fucking Paul wall.. Bubba Sparxxx, etc. You can be a white rapper (and even "sound black") and no one will bat an eye at you if you're not fake as fuck. Iggy is fake to an offensive degree.

they're all lames in my eyes.

Slim thug is brainwashed. I have no respect for what he said, but I understand him in the context of an oppressed person speaking on what he has been taught to like.

With education if he thinks the same way then it is problematic.

Exactly. Eminem grew up in Detroit. There's a lot of white rappers who get respect, but also give respect to the black community who either adopted them or they have adopted the music.

Not to mention there's a large, distinctive Australian rap scene.

I can't blame her for wanting to sound American, but she needs to own up to it.

As you should clearly know, people say a bunch of dumbass shit on tracks. What you are mentioning is a record Eminem did while he was a teenager or something like that IIRC, and maybe was butthurt about it.

Since then the dude put work and black rappers know he is a huge part in rap / hip-hop's culture. Tell me one relevant black rapper or producer who doesn't believe that? The only ones hating on Em for being a white in a black culture are dumbass, racist nobodies.

Where in the thread were people talking about anything but successful/popular rappers? No one reads threads, they just run in and pick fights. The only names mentioned have been Iggy, Eminem, Beastie boys, Nicki minaj, Kendrick, etc., etc. I thought it was pretty clear that we weren't talking about small artists. My previous point still stands of where are all the threads of you guys calling out the unauthentic black rappers if this is so paramount to rap, because I haven't seen any of it. I'm more than happy to look through threads if you have links but I'm pretty confident they don't exist.

No one ? Really ? Lol. You couldn't be more wrong.
Were they being accused of cultural appropriation or were people angry that the only reason they got as much attention as they got is because they are white. I know I fell into the latter. Kreayshawn, lil Debbie and the like are absolutely garbage, but they have the "gimmick" of being cute white girls. Same goesfor yuffie.

I think rap doesn't belong to onegroup so I ddon't think appropriation automatically applies if you're a non black person rapping.

There is a difference between "dumbass shit" and clearly racist shit. A teenager knows better. People who attack em for being white are racist, people who attack him for using white privilege to feel he is owed brown women, and placing such beliefs on tape, are correct and have a valid point.

People are talking about rap as a whole. Cultural appropriation isn't limited to mainstream-level artists, but it certainly helps their exposure.

Also, I'm not the one making the "unauthentic" claims, so find your own posts and links. I personally think artists like Rick Ross have their own niche and their over-the-top personas don't necessarily devalue them as artists.

Iggy is trash, Banks is trash. Let's get that out the way first.

Anyone who has listened to more than a couple recent Bronson songs knows he doesn't sound like Ghostface.

Finally, Banks is a bitter piece of shit. She destroyed her own career by burning every bridge imaginable, now wants to blame it all on racism. Fuck her and everyone who supports her bullshit. If you like her music that's fine, but if you agree with her race shit you lost. White people making hip hop is NOT cultural appropriation, nor is it stealing. Hip hop is art and culture, anyone can fuck with it. There are plenty of dope white hip hop artists - Alchemist, El-p, Kno, etc. Iggy is not a hip hop artist, she's a failed model who decided to rap as a last ditch effort to get famous. She can't rap, can't sing, can't dance, has a shitty personality, and is overall just trash. But she's popular because she acquired a couple dope hooks from Charlie XYZ or whatever the fuck her name is, and because she's white.

Finally on the Grammys...who fucking cares. The Grammys are decided by old white people who don't know shit about multiple genres of music - especially rap and metal. Elton John could release a rap album and win best rap album because the voters would be familiar with him. I remember in 2006 or 2007 when Ludacris won best rap album over The Roots' Game Theory, one of the best rap albums of the decade. They don't know shit about rap, who gives a shit. And yes, Iggy will probably win multiple awards because the voters "know" her and can identify with her. I don't care.
