Satch is really honorable for taking on her bet head on, and sticking with it for a year. Seriously, she's awesome. Have so much respect for her. I was willing to let her out of it. And yet she still went through with it.

Guess I'll let Veelk pick out of the ones posted (including the one I made). Or if he or anyone else can find anything better. Just let me know.

Really? Most consider that one of the dumbest faces Korra made in the show.

yeah, can't find that one either. Anyone know where to find what Veelk talking about?

Here you go Hamlet:

Some face swap goodness.

I instantly regret my bet.

I'll take it, but do you have another? I remember one really good one about Korra just having her mouth open in an expression of pure incomprehension, but I can't find it.

What about Mako.

Here you go m_shortpants (sorry for the blue background in the hair, oh well).

Well damn. I'll switch it when I get to my PC.

Freaking Bryke. I would've expected them to tie up loose ends but NOOOOooOo. Got to prioritize shipping, that's what's important about this franchise right? Not like, the avatar...or the world...or the spirits...

Also, is that really a shot from the show? Which episode?

God, your avatar. Muh sides.

How much would I be shunned by you guys if I said I enjoyed LOK more than Avatar?

Not at all. Enjoy what you enjoy. I think TLOK is much worse than ATLA. But hey, if you enjoyed it more, you did. No one will think any less of you. Glad you enjoyed the show so much. :)

OKAY I really have to head out now.

I wouldn't shun you. Not that it means much. They are both tonally different shows. Very different, actually.

This is a great Community. We don't shun. We don't always agree. But people have every right to have their own opinion without being shunned or made fun of.

It actually makes me happy when I know other people get so much joy out of something. I always want to be happy and enjoy something too. I don't always enjoy something, and that is a let down (because I want something to be good). But if someone else feels good about it, then I'm happy for them. :)

Nothing wrong with that. For me I find the music for Korra to be superior to ATLA. Still they both have excellent scores. Just wish Nick would get around to releasing those soundtracks.

lol I just edited my post to ask for good luck too. Hahah. But yeah, def don't want to fuck this up. She plays music, I actually met her through the project I'm working on now. Super confident and mature. No emotional bullshit. Kind of looking for some stability. She actually asked me out. So really, would be really hard to fuck this up.
Good Luck.

I agree. I'm just saying that because I haven't been around as long as others. It's a good community, not overly negative like others think. Sometimes I think it's very hyper-critical, but it genuinely is a good community. Kind of sad I couldn't be a part of it while the show was still going, though.

The feast of crow begins, and plenty of folks have quite the helping in front of them:

Our local welcher, Dragonz, went big:

I'll make a bet. I bet that AT LEAST one of the things below will happen by the end of the series.

1. There will be no need for an avatar at all. This will be fulfilled by a character saying "we have achieved peace, the avatar isn't needed anymore" or something like it.

2. Korra will lose her avatar abilities permanently. No, "Oh, just kidding!" shit.

If at least one of these things happen, I win. If neither of them happen, Azula can pick my avatar for a month.

What is with these weak month long avatar wagers? Show some conviction!

Fine. Make it three.

I already have an avatar ready in the event of my L.

At least she knew a loss was in her future.

Satch, on the other hand:

some of yall fucked up bad

Yes, some more than others.

it makes the most sense

thats how i know they wont do it and we will get makorrebola

oh ye of little faith. Let John the Prophet show you how it's done.

I dunno. After murder/suicide and exploding metal-encased heads, I feel like anything can happen.

do u live in america? have u learned nothing?

violence = nice
gay shit = u some kinda sick fuck sinner brah?

A double down using some logic, but the power of girl boners is too great.

With a year long bid staring her directly in the face, desperation sets in:

they lie, they have 4 eps left to fuck it up

can i change my avatar bet by the way
KWRhIRy.png

It's too late, friend. It's too late.

Veelk realizes early that the writers might get out of their own way for once

btw, I just realized I might actually lose my bet. If Kuvira can be smacked down by Korra just getting over herself and avatar hulking out on her, and Kuvira is actually insane enough to be all "COME AT ME BRO" when she does so, maybe for once the ending actually won't need a Deus ex machina pulled out its ass.

And here's a bonus reprieve for arrowGAF

I will bet that Kuvira becomes something more superpowered, just so that she can deal with Korra's AS. My wager is that I will ONE. WHOLE. DAY. Without shittalking Arrow.

Meanwhile, in doge land:

If there was a "Korrasami won't happen" bet I would go for that. I don't think Makorra will necessarily happen either. But I'm damn sure Korrasami won't happen

You just graduated, so I'll be nice.

It can sometimes have a negative vibe to it. Mostly because, some of us are really passionate about the show. And some of us are writers, or people that really like to analyze shows. So there is going to be that disconnect of some people, really picking it apart, whereas some people are just enjoying the show.

I feel bad about that. Last thing I want to do, is make someone feel bad for enjoying the show. I guess what I would say is, if we ever do have issues with the show, we do understand it's our own point of view. Even if we get carried away, even if we believe it's 100% fact....we don't think less of anyone just because they don't agree. Just because someone liked it.

When I say I'm confused as to how people can like TLOK more, or say the TLOK finale is better then ATLA. It's because I have issues with the writing, that to me, I don't get how people don't see the same issues.

But I don't think anyone is dumb, or wrong, or any less just because they did in fact love it, and think those things. I say, good for you. Glad you are happy and enjoyed. :)

Our local welcher, Dragonz, went big:

Alright I really really have to get going now.

In terms of Dragonz losing her bet, I'm willing to give her a pass for a couple of reasons.

I. She really helped me out during my cancer. I wouldn't be alive today without her. So I mean, I think she deserves a break.

II. She's going to be leaving soon for a job, and won't be around for the next 2 months (don't want to get into it, as it's her own personal/private info).

So I dunno. I think Dragonz deserves a pass.

We are also best friends. So shhhh.

That detective work. Let no person go unpunished. BRYKE WILL BE THE CAUSE OF ALL OUR DAMNATION.

Like I said, it's mostly because you guys came off as very critical and nitpicky, but those things aren't synonymous with negativity. A lot of people feel that way, though. I think for a lot of people though, TLoK deserves a full re-watch, and here's why:

When we all watched the show initially, we were sort of fighting it. We didn't know what to expect, so what ended up happening clashed with our expectations. Especially if we were fans of ATLA beforehand. I know I was, and you were, as well as many others. So here we have a clash of expectations and actual events occurring. This creates a very interesting reaction, since the person watching isn't really accepting the show on its own terms. They're accepting it (or not) on their own terms.

Now I accepted TLoK for what kind of show it was right away. I still had certain things I wanted to happen that didn't, but none the less I had accepted TLoK for being an action-and-plot-focused show from the get go, as opposed to the world-and-character-focused show that ATLA was.

The reason I say I feel this show deserves a re-watch, is because now that we know how it ends and what kind of show it is, we'd be watching the show on its terms. You know what to expect and what happens, so you can't really be disappointed. That means that stuff might be seen that wasn't before, and might be appreciated whereas before it was criticized. I'm not saying a re-watch will fix the shows problems, but it might let one see it differently. You know where the path ends and what to expect along the way, so now you can appreciate the scenery and maybe see something you didn't.

That's how I look at it, anyways. I've done this with other shows, and it has changed my thoughts coming out of it (Buffy Season 7 and Angel Seasons 3&4). It might just work for everyone else here, especially considering how tumultuous the initial viewing was. I'm definitely doing it with TLoK.

Critics are raving over the Korra series finale

Bh059te.jpg

I can't believe they ended this season on a joke premise. I would have liked Korrassami but not after all that nonsense that occurred between them and Mako over 3 seasons.

Decent battle scenes with ridiculous amounts of destruction, then people started talking and you realise how silly the characterisation has been on this show.

Korrasami would've been fine in a vacuum of this season, but with Korra having already been in a heterosexual relationship and with no foreshadowing of her having ANY romantic interest in girls to suddenly throw it out there is ridiculous. Furthermore the fact that both relationships were with people in Team Avatar who also had relationships with each other makes the group feel very incestuous. The entire show has treated the entire realm of human romantic relationships very badly and this is just more evidence of it.

However despite my qualms at that it doesn't hold a candle to Kuveira's surrender. That was pure unadulterated dogshit. What's this Freudian bullshit about her parents doing here? What about the concentration camps? What about trying to kill Bataar? Where has that cold, ruthless determination to win? I mean WTFFFFFF? We should've just talked to Hitler about his mommy problems and that would've solved everything. Stalin's father's alcholism and abuse was clearly the root of his issues, and a 2 minute chat would've cleared that all up instantly. I mean seriously

WTF?

You perfectly sum up both of my complaints. There was zero setup to compare Korra and Kuvira.

I kinda wish we had 2 more things out of this show: 1) More Tahno and 2) I think Desna and Eska were wasted coughmyotpcough.

I agree. I think Tahno would have made a good addition to team avatar. Rather than Kai, Jinora, Opal, and all these other characters they added and then who didn't even have any spoken lines in the final episodes.

how yall gonna drag MY otp, Icon Korrasami, and then stan incest?
your otp took up to much of my ending with its bad writing. My shallow incest pairing had real proper hints since season 2.
jk

I agree. I really thought they would do something with him after the Amon stuff. Like a road to redemption type thing, but nope. He was saucy too, which that team really needed.
