today I went to my local Saturn in the city of Hamburg in Germany, this is the biggest store in the country so supply is supposed to be ample.

tell me US-Gaf, is this intersting? I know you've been fighting for villagers, Marths, WFTs and even Luigis. Little Mac is also readily available.

the weird thing was, just 1 Samus Aran! :O

I'd imagine that NoA got just as many units as the EU / UK and Japan, but simply has far more people. I would also wager that this image is a really good percentage sampling of unit percentages. It certainly falls in line with what we see in stores for "common" units and rare units.

unexpected huge demand in USA vs. regular/expected demand in PAL land, I guess?

I thought of this thread as soon as saw all those rare (in The US) amiibos

I don't think that's the case. A lot of regions in the US didn't even get shipments of certain characters. Those pics in Euroland suggests shipments equivalent to Skylanders and Disney Infinity. The only retailer in the US that is seeing those kind of shipments is TRU in select locations.

Sphinx!!! Hook a fit bro up!!!!

I find myself entertaining thoughts of the things being intentionally supply limited to create interest -- which, if so, seems to have worked.

This whole ordeal is the brainchild of the same wicked mastermind who launched the Bigfoot pizza. You know who...

GAAAAAAH!

I ordered two-ish weeks ago and only ordered 1. I just got a generic message about my preorder being cancelled due to changes in availability.

That's really odd. Mine seems fine still, and I ordered him on the 19th; only 3 days ago. I did pay with PayPal though, not sure if that changes things?

lol Sean, which amiibos are you missing bro? I can't promise but tell me what you need and I'll keep an eye for them.

guys, this is the thing, I live an hour away from Hamburg, so it's not very likely this picture will repeat itself if I go and check for amiibos here where I live and I don't plan to go to Hmaburg again in the forseeable future, I say this because I'd really like to help people out but I don't think I can commit myself to that.

also, consider that particular Saturn Store in Germany like the Nintendo World Store in New York but in Europe.., yep everything's there, but you have to be within reach to buy :/

ok let me try and get you a Marth and you get me the shirt.

If I ever see it in stores I'll ask you first if you still want/need it.

No Pit's at the local gamestop, called around and found one an hour away that they agreed to hold. WAVE 1 AND 2 COMPLETE. ITS OVER.

Until February :(

I just can't find Captain Falcon anywhere in Michigan. My local Meijer got Luigi and Pit, but not Falcon, while the next closest got Falcon and not Pit. I picked up Pit but didn't get to the Falcon in time.

My local Gamestops just now finally got Luigi, with no idea if/when they are getting Pit and Falcon.

These shipments are so aggrivating. Does anyone have extra Falcon or have seen them in mid-Michigan?

I'm willing to bet that's what Target, Toys R Us, and Best Buy will look like come mid-January in North America (though perhaps with fewer Marth). Amazon's page even has a disclaimer that the Wave 2 figures were under-shipped.

Think I'm done with this line. Amazon still has no dates and I preorderd all the waves on day 1. Gamestop employees don't have any info this whole thing is a mess. It shouldn't be this difficult. I've collected figures for years and never had so many issues that I'm having now.

So ebay said the Lucario I bought from the Toys R Us ebay store was supposed to ship today, but nothing. I just noticed they have a ton of negative feedback for other items that were canceled due to no stock too.

Wow, gamestop actually cancelled me Shulk amiibo preorder. Apparently they won't have as much stock as they thought

already? It's not supposed to be out until february. Mine is still open.

seriously? NoA Where are my Villagers and Pits :(

Oh nice.

Failed attempt at delivery at 5:23 PM of my Little Mac. Business Closed, they say.

Cool. So I'll just go home then, since I clearly can't be working at a closed business.

It is most definitely Nintendo of America screwing everything up. Europe and Japan have a good amount of amiibos in stock.

I'm willing to bet that current demand in the USA is much higher than those places. People are buying these things up for scalping, trade fodder, you name it. How many people have posted in this thread "I wasn't interested in Amiibos but then I read this thread (or otherwise found out how rare/sought-after they are) and I bought a few" It just builds and builds. It's reached critical mass, a self-sustaining reaction where people who aren't even interested in them buy them up, further increasing scarcity and the demand increases from collectors. Who knows if it will sustain after Christmas but I'm willing to bet that most of the people driving this demand aren't buying them as presents, or for little Timmy to have under the tree, but to either collect or resell so there's a good chance the reaction will continue to burn.

The scalping is definitely part of it. But in the case of Marth/Villager/WFT, it really does seem like Nintendo of America put out so few of those that it was a massive screwup. You would think that they only ordered like 5000 of each at most. Of the 700,000 amiibos sold in November, I doubt 10,000 of those were even Marth/Villager/WFT combined.

Picked up last one at a Gamestop 25 min drive from my house. The employee held it for me after I told him what happened to me at the downtown SF store this morning. He said 20 other people called about it after me and he turned them all down. I wanted to give him a $5 tip but he couldnt accept it.

Luckily no price sticker on this one and looks to have no noticeable defects or paint mishaps.

It's interesting that some USA Amiibos have the names in English and French.

Makes me think that the Canadian supply went down to the USA first as they didn't have enough supply and delayed them in Canada as a result.

I thought all retail nintendo games also have English and French languages on the back of the box.

the wiiu isn't selling that great and retailers aren't giving the line much room compared to multiplatform skylanders and disney infinity. I don't blame nintendo for being conservative, they've done it many times before. The US is also larger area to support and has a scalper frenzy around these. There's also a dock slowdown strike on the west coast holding up freight.

I'm glad my gf convinced me to pick up the last Fox at Walmart the other day. I was supposed to have him coming in the mail, but Target cancelled our order because we had mistakenly put down the wrong address. No email or nothing. And my TRU has apparently been targeted by scalpers since all 30 Luigi's disappeared in a split second (according to an employee) and the Fox's they used to have in relative abundance are now completely absent.

I just see a sea of Mario's, Links, Peaches, etc. You know, I understand Nintendo wanting to make its biggest sellers available, but the ratio is so ridiculously out of proportion. Rack after rack of Marios, Links, Pikachus. You would think this might be a good opportunity to introduce some players to the less known characters and grow those franchises. But what do I know?

That's the thing. The Wii U isn't selling well or anything, but Nintendo of America seems to have completely missed that people who don't own a Wii U might possibly want these just as figures to collect.
