Sony Pictures Entertainment said:
Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more so than Chappie: he is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings - some good, some bad - and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But there's one thing that makes Chappie different from anyone else: he is a robot. The first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. His life, his story, will change the way the world looks at robots and humans forever.

I didn't see a whole lot of hype for this movie on GAF yet, so I figured that I would dedicate my first thread ever to what is one of my favorite trailers of the year. So what do you think GAF? Anyone already crying like a baby? Talk about all things Chappie here. I will update the OP with more trailers, pics, and info as it surfaces.

i love anything from neil...dude is the best when it comes to sci fi weapons and robots...i mean THE BEST.

He needs to make a metal gear solid movie asap

wow, coming really soon. first I've heard of it.

I had to have this be my first thread on here, because there was hardly a whisper about the film on GAF outside of the "Most hyped 2015 trailer" thread or whatever. Pardon the ignorance for the Youtube link. It shows up as a video on mobile, but as a link on the desktop site.

... that could actually work, especially the cgi and mech designs which are usually great in his films.

Hopefully future studios ban him from being in the same hemisphere the screenplay is being written in. Dude's got a good eye for visuals, but he's a terrible writer.

If Blomkamp goes back to the indie film directing that made District 9 good instead of the pure Hollywood schlock of Elysium, then he'll have a winner.

Why didn't this guy direct the Halo Movie...damn what a missed opportunity...District 9 means that I will pay attention to this film though.

Interesting that Hugh Jackman is involved, reminds me of Real Steel (except of course he's not controlling the robot this time!)

He nearly did, but it never went down in the end. Not sure why.

Would've been incredible.

The same writer that handled the screenplay of District 9 with him is back for this one isn't she?

The question isn't "will this be any good, or bad" It's "'Was Hollywood successful in their attempt to bring the mullet back".

I really cant believe how much people hate Elysium now

I mean, i do hate Elysium! I watched and was like "BU BU BUT PEOPLE SAID THIS MOVIE IS GREAT WHAT THE HELL"

Really, i almost though i was watching the wrong movie.

But you see, the first impressions on the movie running around the internet were pretty positive!! And thats why i had to me the movie was worth watching

(funny enough, this same thing happened with The Amazing Spiderman 2. The "first impressions" running on twitter were incredibly positive. We all saw how that turned out)

I'm so confused. Why does the OP link to a german trailer when the engliush one is almost 2 months old.

Fixed. I don't know how that happened to be honest. I'm new to posting on the actual desktop site, so I'm not sure how embedding videos works when I'm not on mobile.

District 9 was really fucking good and I've been fans of Die Antwoord for a while now, looks like a pretty promising movie too. I'm down for it.

Watched the trailer last week. Looked just like it was meant to make you sad for 90% of the movie then happy right at the end.

I dunno, like its emotional string pulling.

Can't wait for this. I would love to see him take a shot at Blade Runner or just anything from Phillip Dick, Isaac Asimov, or Harlan Ellison.

When I caught the trailer for this it immediately felt like a Blomkamp remake of Short Circuit.

Same.

And that last sentence is basically the ending to SC2:
