Again you say "easily" and I have to reiterate that they are just as "easy" to DDoS as anything else on the internet. So why pay for Netflix or the internet at all for that matter?
Keep dreaming then multi billion dollar corps are bigger targets. And have to do ALOT more to secure them they could literally spend all those billions SOLELY on there infrastructure and not be able to compensate for this happening. Heck with a big enough attack from enough people even google could have this happen to them.
I can't even use the media apps to watch movies with my family because they need to connect to Xbox Live.

Great so my kid is crying since after a day of fuckery going to family and shit we get home to play infinity and cant get on. Wish I knew enough to find these cunts. Why do this to people and ruin the day for real people that just want to have fun? Why not fuck with real problem companies.

Same thing here, had no idea I couldn't play offline. Also didn't know there's no local profile sign in at all, so I can't even view any of my digital games to try playing those.

What system are you on? We had no problems with Infinity here (PS4). Didn't even have to disconnect.
Fuggin lizard squad. What a crappy bunch. My kid brother, who asks for next to nothing ever, was going to be surprised by my parents with an Xbox one. Little did the guy know that instead, he wouldn't be able to get his day-one downloads done, or even be able to sign on.
We do a lot of family stuff, but even then he just wanted to have it ready for when he was settling down tonight, he couldn't even do that because some bunch of 16 year olds decided it'd be funny to cause a bunch of frustration on Christmas.
This also is frustrating, since why does anyone pay a monthly fee for all this? Ddos attacks from people who are at the intellectual level of thinking "lizard squad" is a cool name can just topple these servers with a few keystrokes.
I *really* hope some sort of solution is found soon for these sort of attacks, since there isn't even a reason behind causing all these problems besides "the lolz" of a few kids

Why is it still $300? $200 I could easily swing without sending my girlfriend to crazy town. (We're saving for a move and she's covering most expenses so I can pay down my debt as soon as things stabilize - she's not normally very concerned about my spending).
I'm looking around me and see an empty house, because I've been sick with a fever for the first time on Christmas. After the last round of throwing up and sleeping for a few hours it would've been nice to patch some of the games I have and just unwind.
this must come as a major shock to you, but maybe not everyone handles holidays the same as you.

Strange, I can play SO. Is this your first time booting it up? I guess it has to have a primary association to an XBL account for achievement purposes, or maybe just identification purposes in general.
Would make sense since when you start the game it says something like "Play as [Gamertag]" and "Switch user".

Have you tried going offline in the network settings? I was trying to play SO earlier and after I hit that, it took a few tries but I was able to sign in and play it offline.

You can't stop DDos attacks. So having a more robust network would mean nothing.
Sure, anything could get taken down, but I am not talking about those services. I am talking about PSN and Xbox Live, which I am directly affected by. I am simply saying that if this keeps up, then I am not going to keep paying for something I can't use. Especially when you add in the fact that we should not even be paying for them to begin with. Sorry if you can't wrap your head around that.

Actually, dozens and dozens of gaffers have grabbed the refurbs (new 99.9% of the time) + 1 year of warranty off the Nintendo store for $200, you might want to look into it. Seems a great deal.
Out of the three, WiiU is by far the one I'm playing the most if I don't consider using XBone's media capabilities as actual playtime.

Honestly, the only surefire way to avoid getting DDOS is to not be an appealing target.

$200 is the price of a 3DS XL, pricing a new Wii U at $200 would eat into 3DS XL sales.

She got us Halo:MCC, which is special for us, because we played Halo in her dorm when we started dating 9 years ago.
We were going to play it in the little amount of time we have this holiday. We have two young children, so my time off and them being passed out from Xmas would give us a chance to revisit great memories.
We can't even get Netflix going.
