PSN connection problems (12/24)

Are they still being DDOS'd, because I thought those attacks ended yesterday when XBL went back up.

That's why today it's Sony's fault. They have a huge sales lead yet an inferior service for going on a year now plagued with the same issues. All this maintenance and the service never improves.

My mate can't get on Live. So they are having problems still.

So, yesterday I was able to get on at 7 am Eastern Time U.S. Since I logged when PSN was up, I wasn't booted by the DDoS attack and was able to play online MP till about 2:00 pm when I shut my PS4 down. I did notice my friend list and PS Store going down during that period but it never booted me from online MP.

I started my PS4 at about 10:00pm later in that day and PSN was down and I couldn't log in. Then at about 2:00-3:00 am today (roughly 6 hrs after) I automatically got logged in. PS Store was up, Friend list was not. I was able to play online MP until I logged off, about a hour after.

Today, can't log in. I suggest to people to leave the PS4 on and just hope you get signed-in automatically when it goes up intermittently. Once you do, you "shouldn't" get booted unless you shut off your PS4 or you manually log out of PSN.

This might be obvious, but if, like me, you end up stuck on the dragon age server connection screen, go to the ps4 network settings and disable connect to Internet.
Not a great solution but at least this way you can boot up the game.

So, I'v been away from the PS4 / PS3 / Vita for a couple of days, but I just powered on the PS4 and things are normal. US Account.

Edit: and now I'm online on Fifa 15.

Yesterday this didn't bother me as much because I had other things to do. I have other things to do today as well, but now its really starting to irk me. Why persist? This story has already been picked up on all the major news networks. I get it, you guys [lizardsquad] are so cool and edgy, now give us our PSN back.

It will really try to auto-connect again if you leave it on? I thought it was just a 1-time thing when you turn on the PS4 or login, and then it just sits there.

It is reasonable to ask at this point:

- When can we expect things to go back to normal?

- Will there be a compensation?

Opinions?

I doubt it very much, this isn't a Sony fuck up.

People keep saying stuff like this and I keep thinking, so...

People pay for a service, if we cannot access that service then why should we have to pay? From the perspective of the end user it doesn't matter why the service is down. If the user cannot use what they are paying for then you shouldn't charge them.

I think it's way more understandable that it's happening from someone being malicious than through Sony's incompetence. But if you want your money back for the last day I'm sure you know you can contact Sony directly.

It's both. Just sucks being someone who doesn't have time or desire at all points to sit down and play some games, but when you do and you can't or you wanted to buy something from the store on impulse or whatever.

This has probably cost them millions over the holidays, I don't know at this point, any online service that's customer base services millions, just seems like these things should be accounted for, if only for them to maintain high loads of normal users, let alone some type of denial of service attack.
I don't know shit about dos attacks

Speak to Kim Dotcom about compensation, apparently he's in charge of stuff like this now.

How much compensation is a few days of a service that costs about $4 a month worth?

If you ask me, it's not about the 30 cents and I'm going to ask Sony to add the lost days to my subscription - no matter if it's 30 cents or 30 bucks. Don't want the money back, I want the time back.

25th….(Christmas morning) and Whole day.
26th… Whole day.
Not able to sign in, update, play on-line.
Not able to redeem codes for games.

Frustrating and beyond rediculous. Just saying. At this point I don't care who's fault it is. Just fix it Sony. And official statement from Sony with some info would be nice.

They can't fix it if it is still going on. My PSN has been down 24hrs now.

That's... not how it works.
How does it work than? I can't redeem any codes I got Christmas and can't play online. I can't even set up my cousin's new PS4 properly. She has been waiting since Christmas to properly set up the damn thing and play.

When Music Unlimited, another Sony service, is down unexpectedly I get an email about how they extended my sub a day because of the downtime.

Worst thing of all it happened before and it took nearly 2 days before it was online again. It's like there investigation everything before going online like they where hacked the last time they installed a whole new protocol before it starts but this is getting indeed ridiculous.

It would be great if they officially acknowledged it and gave the customers an actual update other than they are working on it.

Some transparency is better than none at all. Shoddy service and they seem never to learn.
