Maybe someone wrote that article to pressure Sony into giving free stuff.
I'm not expecting anything.
I'd be happy with the people responsible for the attacks to be held accountable. Funny how people jump on the companies getting attacked here instead of those doing the attacking. The most I'd want from Sony is added time to my PS+ subscription for the amount that the service was down. I mean, I can play my games. Whether it's disc based Unity or GTA:V digital download, no problems with either. My only complaint is I wanted to do some co-op missions to get some gear unlocked.
How about you direct your anger at the people actually responsible for this, the kids and immature adults who think it's funny you can't play online - or does that get in the way of entitlement?

Is anyone having issues starting games at all. I know PSN is down but every game today I've tried to start on both PS4 and Vita won't work. I tried starting up Minecraft on vita and it starts up and then just goes to a black screen and the same goes with Metrico which won't even start on vita. I've been trying games on PS4 and Strider just freezes once I try to load a game and Minecraft PS4 just doesn't load and I also Child of Light.
Neither of the systems are freezing cause I can hold down the PS button and close the applications. Minecraft and Child of Light I paid for and the others are all PS+ games so it doesn't seems to be an issue with PS+ and the server stuff.

I think it is pretty dumb to have to log in to the PSN network to get game updates. Since I am not able to log in, I cannot update Drive Club. My wife got me a PS4 and the Game for Xmas, I originally had the PS4 when DC came out but the lack of games and the on-line issues I ended up selling it but always regretted it, so my wife on whim bought me it. All I want to do is play the game, even in offline with the new updates, but I can't because it forces you to log in to get the update.

Extended customer support to handle all the calls/emails, people returning Christmas presents that aren't working (console and games), PR having to deal with the issue, and overall lowered public image of the PS4 quality.

Well, I do have some promos to get. But I think it's really bad for new comers. Two consecutive days with no service, it's enough to some people start to return it and ask for a refund....and it's also a bad PR. It's just frustrating.

I haven't tried YouTube but I read earlier complaints about Netflix not working and Far Cry 4 not getting past the "logging in" prompt. Neither one was the case for me. I was able to play FarCry 4 and watch Netflix and Amazon Video (including buying a video) just fine without being logged in to PSN.
I guess this stuff is on a case by case basis?
Seems like most games can't get past the loading screens. Like I said above nothing I own works I guess this is what I get for going all digital lol but man it's annoying.

I'm going to guess that's because your console isn't set as your primary. I've had no problems booting up games, and my entire collection is digital. Even PS+ games work.
I just get messages that I need PSN for network features, get prompted to log in, fail or cancel out and then I'm back in the game. Was even able to start up Spelunky (via PS+) for the very first time with no issues.
No it's definitely set as my primary I've already checked all that. This is happening on both my PS4 and Vita nothing is working at all.The games start up on PS4 but freeze trying to do anything after the title screen and on vita once I click the start button I just get black screens on all games.
Just remember you need to be disconnected from the internet in order to play missions (settings --> network --> uncheck connect to internet).

It's happened enough times this year that any sort of disruption on the PsN is something they should be fucking prepared for.

Yeah I was having issues last night, and I was pissed today, because my sister in-law is staying over with her 8 yr old son, and he was jazzed to get on Minecraft on the PS4 with me...couldn't even get into the game. We eventually were able to get onto the PS3 version, but it was kinda nuts having to tell the kid "Yeah, this is the PS4...it doesn't work."
Sure hoping it's fixed by tomorrow though. I have the house to myself for like 5 hours, and I was hoping to play some BF4.

Want to load up the digital copy of Far Cry 4 I bought, hopefully something happens tonight. It would be nice if they at least offered an ETA for stuff like this.
Weird, I've been able to play the digital version of Far Cry 4 even tho I can't sign in either.

Because a lot of games are connected to some company server for updates or intel gathering. Ubisoft, EA Sports and 2KSports games are constantly connected to their own internal servers for their devs teams to gather feedback and whatnot. You can play some of those titles (NBA 2K, FIFA, Madden) offline, but a lot of people don't realize just how "always online" their games really are.
This is why no PS4 owner can play Destiny right now.
