No source, so it must be true.

I understand the differences thank you. But I wasn't responding to you anyway so telling me what to do is pointless for you.

Lol, wow you sure do seem like an angry little elf...Relax...

If you understand the differences then why are you comparing this to the actual PSN hack from a few years ago? He was trying to correct your silly claims of this maybe being some big data breech. Smfh

"My anecdotal experience has convinced me, against all evidence to the contrary, that the world is, indeed, flat."

So playing crucible on destiny with 12 people and my friends i was not the only one online. I will say it again only problem with PSN was the login but once you login it works fine.

Bullshit. They ain't giving anyone free anything for just a DDoS attack. The PSN Outage was a security issue, this ain't.

A DDoS attack that was announced a few days earlier, on Xmas day, rendering all PS4's gifted basically unusable on xmas.

So yeah, I really think they should compensate users, if not with 2 games, with something else.

I am logged in on psn. Can see friends lists. Send messages, receive messages. Can I play any game with an online component.... Hell no.

Please explain what kind of magic PSN/XBL would use to prevent a DDOS they knew was coming.

Xbox Live was up but just went down on me. Daughter is pretty frustrated since she can't play Minecraft now. = PSN none existent but at least I got the FarCry 4 patch and can play offline.

Nah. Iam online in PS4 PSN. Cant play Destiny. I did play it, but decided to change my character to another one and got kicked from game.

Now I get this:
Clicking PS button and accessing to PSN store works nicely.

Sorry but "the absence of proof isn't proof of absence" does not justify jumping to the conclusion that there has been negligence on the part of Sony. Even if it's discovered that there was an intrusion alongside the DDoS, that doesn't necessitate that the intrusion was the result of negligence. Lots of companies get DDoS'd and there's no intrusion. The same group that is claiming responsibility for this attack has also attack multiple game services previously including Arena Net and Blizzard amongst others and there has been no security compromise in those events.

The only thing that could result in compensation is negligence and there's no evidence of negligence. Demanding compensation without even knowing if there was negligence involved is not at all reasonable.

First off I never demanded compensation so feel free to read back and verify that. Second again I DISAGREE and it's okay that I disagree because people form different opinions I'm sure I don't have to explain it to you but I can if need be. I disagree with your assessment that the ONLY thing that would result in compensation is IF Sony was negligent. Sony comps people all the time and most times don't even have to be asked but this is getting off track. My main argument is Sony has a responsibility to their customers and they should be held accountable despite the fact this in all likelihood wasn't their fault it is still Sonys service not performing and this argument isn't limited to just Sony but MS too. The bottom line is we pay for a service that isn't available as advertised that's it that's the end of the road. And to keep kicking a dead horse again and again and again I never asked for compensation i did however say and still believe Sony and MS do have to answer to their customers if they want to stay in business and taking people's money and lapsing on service is not okay and I will not agree with you under any circumstances to the contrary.

Would be to good to be true.

This whole thing does emphasize for me the issue with the need all store purchases need to be verified online each time you start them in order to play. Though I understand they want some fraud protection there must be a different way to handle this? Such as once every 30 days or something? This makes me want to buy less digital stuff really.

If we get anything it'll be knack.

I still can't log into PSN on PS4. Geeze, you can't even look at your trophies unless you are on PSN, well from what I gather anyway.

Just managed to log in to PSN. Tried a lot of times. 20 minutes ago I got "wrong password". Retyped it. 20 minutes later, I'm in.

Seriously. Pretty ridiculous that even if I just want to play single player on some games, I can't.

Oh I'm not angry at all im dealing with multiple people (you're now included) who attack me for difference of opinion on a forum. So to the contrary it is the people who can't respect someone else's opinion who are the "angry little elf's" not me so by all means please continue wasting your time trying to change my opinion you disagree with.

EDIT: And I never claimed this "was some big data breach" so I guess you pulled that right out of your ass.

On what system are you referring to? I bought Halo MCC digitally on Xbox One, and Dragon Age Inquisition on PS4 and both played fine being in offline mode.

You do realize you can't really defend yourself properly against a ddos attack until it happens, right?

You really think they didn't have some ddos mitigation ready for christmas - (Well, there's ddos protection ready at all times really)? the thing about ddos attacks is that you never know just how big the attack is going to be. You can prepare, prepare, prepare, prepare and prepare, but what size of attack are you preparing for? what type of attack (there's a shit load, most of them require different anti ddos methods)? you have zero idea until it happens.

Don't get me wrong, MS were clearly miles ahead of Sony here, and that's something Sony needs to work on closing the gap but really, MS owns azure and use their own ddos protection. They can do whatever they want first hand, Sony's ddos protection is a third party it's really not the same and MS will always have that advantage unless sony build their own infrastructure but even then I doubt it will come close to azure, but your post is just silly, just because you know an attack is coming doesn't mean you can stop it, even if it's easily possible.

If Sony is fulfilling it's obligation to provide service to the best of their ability and some outside force interferes with that ability to provide service, what in the world makes you think that Sony should be held accountable?

And how exactly would one "hold them accountable" without receiving compensation (whether that be in the form of free product or credited premium service time)?

I don't want or need compensation from Sony if they have been hard at work trying to resolve this. If they were lax because holidays etc, that's one thing, and not hearing anything from them doesn't help that part.

But I hope the culprits somehow pay Sony back.
