LIZARD SQUAD is Back. Planning XBL Attack. "Biggest attack yet". [UP: XBL/PSN Down]

US West Coast here (Seattle), I had nothing until I tried manually setting the MTU on my internet connection to 1437. Now Destiny, the store, friends, and everything is working like normal.

It is the responsibility of the service provider to provide service you paid for. Other than that I don't know what to tell you like I said if you personally like paying for things that don't work that's your business I won't judge you but don't sit there and act like what I'm saying is outlandish or unreasonable. IF Sony and or MS or anyone else can't protect their service from this type of attack and by all accounts I've read you can't then maybe they should stop charging people money for a service they themselves can't guarantee they can provide. There lies the point again we paid for service they have been unable to provide 3 days now and things don't seem to be progressing so they are and should be held accountable for their service failing to perform up to the standards we all expect when we pay them every month.

oh no. A few days lol. Your life is ruined.

what you need is a class action lawsuit. Do it.

Perhaps but most likely in the small print of the online services it absolved them of any outages. Any gift they offer is purely to please customers. Not a requirement. Also, the only thing they are possibly required to compensate us for is the downtime added as extra days to our services.

Yeah I get that and again I never asked for compensation I simply said Sony is accountable and beholden to their customers who pay them every month for service. I keep getting chastised by people who claim Sony owes nobody not even subscription days lost they're totally absolving Sony of everything and thats not right. If companies operated the way these guys keep telling me they should people would be paying for things and getting nothing in return and not only that but they aren't allowed to complain about it either. That's not how the world works thankfully.

Well then, I better check here in Minnesota.

Edit: We have liftoff!
Yeah buddy, online like a big shot
PSN tuned up like a nascar pit stop
Fresh connection(check), fresh IP(chck)
Has SONY finally got their chit right(yes)
Are the Christmas noobs on(what), do it feel good(good)
Lean back right hand on the joystick

honestly that would be nice but chances are that they are going to be offered a nice job by a nice big company and may face minor infractions for this

seriously though sony... its saturday... SATURDAY ... the one of the week right after christmas. its unreal that sony has such an incompetent team. Granted microsoft probably has the best team money can by but man MS dusted sony in this scenario

Sigh...

Yep. After the infamous hack last time, I don't keep my CC on any game related things and buy gift cards if I need credit.

It's just not worth it. I'll go a bit out of my way to make sure my info doesn't get on PSN. Love the consoles, but I don't trust that company at all with my data.

They've performed up to reasonable standards and have only failed in light of a criminal attack that very few corporations could have handled. As I said, the only compensation you're entitled to is the time you lost. If that's the totality of your argument, then we're not too far off. But, to say that they're to blame is ridiculous. Almost any electrical or mechanical product you buy has an acceptable failure rate that is nearly impossible to get rid of without raising prices to levels that would render that product unobtainable by most consumers. Your argument, if applied here, would be that these products should either be given away for free because they can't guarantee service, or that they should make it totally reliable at which point you most likely wouldn't be able to afford it. That seems odd to me. But, I'm off to play some Battlefield. Enjoy the rest of your day.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find yourself in the majority among anyone that actually understands the situation. Total prevention is impossible, yet you're asking them to do just that because you hand over barely more than $4 a month. Make way for the big spender everyone, he expects to get what he paid for!

Yeah that's not going to work so try a different argument. The price doesn't matter you know why because Sony sets the market price for PSN and it doesn't matter if it's 5 dollars or 100 the fact is we put our trust and money into service and when it's not provided we ARE allowed to bitch about it and Sony is most definitely responsible for providing what we pay for regardless of the price and regardless of what happens on their end. And the majority of people want to get what they pay for they don't just bend over and give money to a company or for a product for free. There are expectations and standards the company is held to I'm sorry you can't see that.

bf4stats.com as others have stated is a good indicator for PSN issues.

Player count now at 10.000 and growing, everything's coming up Mil...Sony!

What economy do you live in? If you buy a light bulb or a $500 receiver and it turns out to not meet your expectations you don't expect free shit. You just don't buy from them again.

Point to me where any network here has guaranteed to you as a consumer 100% uptime and you win. I'll wait.

I'm not expecting free shit so if you're going to chime in on this argument at least take the time to read up on wtf is going on. In your analogy you're entitled to a refund correct? According to who I'm arguing with you're not even entitled to a partial refund because Sony is blameless. So even in your analogy you're agreeing with me and don't even realize it.

Do you realize you're on a gaming forum? You come into a thread and belittle the fact it's been 3 days with most of PSN being down and Xbox Live being up and down. Troll much?

Nope the light bulbs and receiver work as advertised, just not up to my standards. No refund that I'm entitled too, even though some retail chains do for their own customer service.

In this situation, unless you have proof of negligence on Sony's part, this isn't their fault.

I tried this in Illinois, on PS4 I set the MTU setting to 1437
in Network > "Set Up Internet Connection"

and took a pic of the Test Internet Connection results:

I'm not sure what is or isn't actually working though, as far as PSN functionality.
