Halo 5: Guardians Beta Thread | Hot Red on Blue Action

You can access the beta download via the waypoint app through the armour reward for watching all 5 nightfall eps (just fast forward through em)

You should see a star in the right corner of the app, if not boot it up and it should start updating, the full beta should be 18gb in size

Hmm, I can't get a halo nightfall episode to play. It just says Buy Halo.

Do you,still need the mcc disk tomorrow to play the beta once you do this?

Well I just ran the beta and it is updating, o believe we could just need the beta. MCC is probably acting as the download token, which we already have so many no need to switch the disc. Yesssssss.

What time is the beta back up, anyone seen anything about it?

So, once the beta's installed, will I be able to launch it straight from the dashboard? Or will I have to go through the MCC Extras menu every time?

The H5 beta sent me running back to MCC, I couldn't wait to play some H2A. But then I remembered how broken MCC was and that H5 beta runs better. Then I cried manly tears as I fired up BF4. :)

Ahh ok, I did think it was a bit weird that doing this method was the way to get the beta. Seemed like a nuisance. Thanks!
 
The preload is up through TMCC Extras Menu now. Clicking on Halo 5 MP Beta takes you to Halo Waypoint to watch a Blur Cinematic and then it takes you to the store to download it.
 
Anyone else still getting the halo 5 beta option to be greyed out?

EDIT: josh holme's twitter says that it's just taking time to propagate through the network. All is well.
 
Here's a question. Why does Locke have a BR with a scope on it in the H2A epilogue scene? I thought those all died out for the superior red dot style BRs.

I was part of the preview, no update for me (I don't think). File size is 10.2GB which I'm pretty sure is what I downloaded originally. I've tried launching it via dash and via MCC, but get no update prompt etc.
 
I can confirm right now, you do not need to launch the Beta through TMCC. I just tested it and the Beta loaded up without having to load up The Master Chief Collection first. Which is very good, it would get annoying fast if you had to load TMCC and then load Halo 5 from the Extras Menu (like with Halo 3: ODST and the Reach Beta).
