Never going to happen. Doing a print run for a fairly old niche game on a niche console isn't smart when they can just sell direct on the eShop.

Hopefully the Wii U gets a resurgence in sales at some point and then do one of the re-release budget lines.

I've seen Assassin's Creed Unity for Xbox One as a download code for 25$ on gamedealdaily.com. Do you guys know a similar deal for PS4?

edit
Also any good DriveClub/Dragon Age deal?

any restrictions for the official gamecube style wii u pad? does it work for most games?

Compatible with everything the Wii Classic Controller is compatible with. It plugs into the Wii Remote.
Do you mean this?

hiPl1uh.jpg

If so, it requires the adapter pictured and currently only works with Super Smash Bros. Wii U. It is basically a re-issue Gamecube pad with a different logo on the front for Smash Bros.

However the pads below plug into the wii remote controller and can be used for many more games:

The Wii U Pro Controller is probably the most popular choice, here's a compatibility list for that, if that helps.

His wording makes it sound like he means these (which plug into the Wii Remote and double as Wii Classic Controllers):

I haven't used the fight pads, so I didn't even think about those!

I can thoroughly recommend the Wii U pro controller though, really great stuff.

yea, i meant the re-issue with smash logo. these controller options are a little confusing.

lol shit. The one with the Smash logo needs the adapter and only works with Smash. Yeah, didn't realise how confusing this was until just now.

Using the proper names/terminology solves that problem^^

The official reissue is just that, a reissue of actual GameCube controllers with GCN controller plugs that plug into the official GCN adapter which is only supported by Smash 4 and no other game.

Seriously, this. Unless you have a vendetta against white electronics, you can get the extra 24GB of storage (and more) for peanuts.

I don't think you'd even need the extra storage. The eShop is a joke and you could probably fit the essentials on an 8GB drive. What is there as far as exclusives go? Mario Kart DLC, Scram Kitty, and, er?

You don't get the full 8GB, part of that is reserved for Wii mode + Wii U OS. You are actually getting only around 3GB space for downloads.

Mario Kart 8 + Hyrule Warriors DLC was enough for me to go over the limit.

And then there is for example AssCreed 4 with a 1 GB patch. There are also so many Virtual Console games, that are worth it.

Save the money and get a basic

But right. This.

Dissenting opinion: I'm very happy going physical with my Wii U Premium not having to fear a good eshop game / offer showing up forcing me to choose between adding a hard drive or going without. I hear using an additional hard drive is super-easy and a no-brainer if you're going digital, but the premium gives you a nice bit of leeway for keeping things small and tidy if not.

I was explaining the controllers available for the Wii U to a father and son I overheard talking at a Media Markt (no, I don't work there), including the difference between those two GC controllers, and as I did I realized Nintendo could not have made it more confusing if they tried. You need a goddamn university course to understand it all.

Why? There's two versions. One type plugs into the Wiimote and is a redesigned Wii CC, the other is an actual old controller that needs the GCN adapter. That is it. All you need to know.

This is extremely hyperbolic. First, there are way more exclusive games on the eshop than those you mention, second, there is also virtual console, and third, not everybody buys every thirdparty game on non-nintendo plattform. I do agree that he wont need much storage, but he can easily go over the 8gb with normal usage.

Well, they need to know about 3 controllers there actually, including the Wiimote. 4 infact, since you need a motion plus Wiimote for the WiiU, not the standard one most people would have. Then they need to also know about the fact that regardless of what they want to use, they have to still use the Gamepad, and that they'll not be able to turn it off, even if they choose not to use it. So 5. Oh, and the option to use the Pro controller, so 6.

And of course there's the fact they'll need to know that not all those controllers will work for all games, so if they do choose one they may need to buy another later, particularly in the case of the GC controller.

I can't see how that would be confusing, or off puttingly complicated, for a patent with likely little to no knowledge of any of this before hand, trying to buy a gift for a child who probably didn't even exist when the GameCube was on shelves.

You do not need Wii Remote Pluses for Wii U. That is still entirely dictated by the game. Turning off the GamePad and Pro Controller is not required knowledge to know at that point, especially the former. It sounds like they didn't even own a Wii U so just telling them to buy Pro Controllers for Smash would've done the trick.

I disagree. These are all bits of information that are needed to make an informed decision about a product someone is considering whether or not to buy, and will prevent problems occurring in future.

No customer should be treated as if they're too stupid to understand a product. Any information that would infact benefit them, such as the wide variety of controllers available for the WiiU, should be both easy to obtain and understand.

As someone who just spent the last week trying to explain the WiiU, it's games, backwards compatibility and controllers to both mine and my fiancées families, I can vouch for the fact that basically everything about the system is needlessly complicated to explain to non gaming enthusiasts, or even just non-Nintendo fans. I'm honestly not certain my mother understands it's not just another accessory for the Wii quite frankly.

Right guys, I won a WiiU (woop!) just before Christmas and it should get to me this week, just wondering what you guys suggest and if you could give me any links to save some money (I don't really have money for WiiU stuff right now, but the temptation is grand and I want to do some co-op gaming with my girlfriend). It's a Premium WiiU anyway (or whatever the 32GB version is called).

I have had a HORI Luigi Gamecube controller on order with Amazon UK for weeks but no sign of it coming in stock (was only £20 when I ordered anyway though, not the £50 or so they were asking for last time I checked), might try get another although I won't get that price again and the Mario one looks nasty. I know I should go to Nippon-Yassan for a Pro WiiU controller if I want one and I will eventually I'm sure, just this is cheaper and since it'll work with Wii games too it will be really useful for me with my Wii backlog. Not sure what else to get, main games I'd want now are Smash and MK8 for co-op but I presume most places have it for similar prices right now and I won't get them very cheap, unless New Years' sales are any good (which I'm not sure about, any inklings or hints on what it was like last year?). Then lastly, anything else I might need or you guys would suggest? Cheers guys, I didn't want to make a thread since there seem to be new ones for the same thing lately but at the same time I don't know that much, plus I'm looking for deals too anyway.

It was even confusing for me and my flatmates when we bought it (still is).

Yep, that's exactly it. They wanted a controller for the Wii U they had just bought: they had nothing else, including wiimotes. I stepped in right before the bought the GC-like one that's actually a classic pro. They didn't know anything about the Wii U, including the fact that it's not a Wii.

I'll never get used to people's utter inability to put themselves in the shoes of people that aren't as tech-savvy.

yup, agreed :D

I don't mind Nintendo bringing out different controllers for each console (Wii remote, gamepad), but they should have used the GameCube controller as the 'standard' alternative from last gen onwards. No classic controller, classic controller pro, pro controller. What a bloated array of accessories.

Imagine a Wii U where we had just three options to cover all bases; gamepad for second screen gaming, Wii remote (+ munchkin) for motion, GameCube controller for traditional and virtual console gaming.

The fact that two generations on people still consider the GameCube controller as the best of a dozen options for Smash Bros suggests it's a versatile, popular controller. Even if, starting with the Wii, Nintendo had rebranded it the 'Nintendo controller' going forward, they could have established consistency, avoided confusion and eliminated three unnecessary other controllers.

That would have been interesting. Definitely needed a few tweaks to it overall - better Z button, extra Z on the left side, much bigger d-pad...maybe clicky analogues and home/select added - perfect.

People prefer the GCN controller for Smash because that is what they are used to. For games in general the Pro controller is much better.

Really, for the Wii U you just need the GamePad, Wiimote+ and nunchuck. The Pro is nice to have but totally optional. The rest can just be ignored and just a nice option for those who may already have a few Wii classic controller(pro)s.

This isn't a offer, but a question regarding GAME. I received my order from them today, and even though I bought the item as New, it's clear to see it's a preowned copy.

I have read a few post regarding similar issues, but I wanted to know how are they getting away with such things?

Because they are actually new in the fact that they usually have had no previous owner. They gut the insides so they can use the box as a display box in a store.

From my experience working there, that was eventually done with every single game, so if it's something that bothers you, don't buy any game that isn't very recent from there. Even then, you're still taking the risk.

I don't normally buy much from them, but this is the first time I've encountered this. I guess I'll have to think twice before buying things from them in the future, as I generally prefer my goods brand new and sealed.

Thanks again for the info.

A well-known issue with this shit company. People have received games damaged and booklets ripped/crimpled, even though they bought them 'New' off the site. I try to avoid buying from GAME whenever possible.

if you bought it from them online just complain on livechat and get £5 points back from it which you can buy psn or i think xbl money with

I've had the same issue. However, it's normally only happens when they have stuff on sale for a low price. I think it's blown out of proportion on this thread, most of the time stuff is sealed when they say it is. but yes it shouldn't be happening. Talk to cs and they'll help you out.

I was fairly livid when this 'new copy' arrived:

But yeah, just send them an email and return it and they'll sort you out. I received a sealed copy a few days afterwards!

I do stand by my comment, mostly. There might be exclusives for the Wii U but if you take out the stuff that isn't even as good as a bad Xbox LIVE Indie Game, how much are you really left with, exclusive-wise?

I did totally forget about the Virtual Console though, so apologies for that.

I was fairly livid when this 'new copy' arrived:

GAME are terrible for doing this. They do in store as well. You take the display case to the counter and they just take the case and stick the disc and manual in it and put one of them stupid GAME seals on it.

I would ask them to get a copy sealed copy for me, cause usually the draw of games contains both new and used copies; which is just stupid.
