The game overall should be nearing completion not to mention the story was done for a while now. Anything they're doing now is testing and sorting out bugs and adding bits here and there. I'd say it's coming out in April.

Started GZ today for the very first time on PS4. Holy fuck it looks great.
It really does. I played it for the first time last night and was really impressed.

Controls great also. I never minded past Metal Gears in that regard, but GZ is a massive improvement.

This makes me think the "main quests" are at a good point but they need more time to polish things,record all side/funny conversations, the side ops. Maybe they'd have already finished it if it was like a "normal" MGS game, but this time is huge.

is very important. First Rising project failed because KojiPro made indeed all the game parts but they didn't manage to "put the game together".

It IS the best running animation.
Actually all the animations are top notch.

Well I was just watching the Africa footage again for the millionth time and the jumping or more specifically landing animations are jarringly low quality compared to other animations. It always bugs me when I see it. Like it doesn't have enough impact or it's too fast or something. I can't really pinpoint the reason but something is off about it.

Now this on the other hand... God tier running animation. Best I've ever seen. I wonder what actually makes this so good. Is it the camera work, the motion blur or the animation itself? Why is it so head and shoulder above other running animations? I mean I never even think about running animations but this made me be really aware of how well done it is.

I wonder if they mo-caped someone sprinting ? It looks so goddamn good.
 
I'm pretty sure it's mo-capped but other studios mo-cap as well so why is this one so satisfying. It has this real sense of urgency.

More than that, it just looks real. So many run animations look stiff or forced or awkward or funny. I think this is the first one that looks real to me.

Such a shame that any time Big Boss jumps down from any height animation system turns into total dog turd. He lands incredibly badly with no sense of weight and without any "landing" animation.

I don't know about you but I love seeing Snake reorient himself in mid air when you dive off a cliff.

I love this, but there comes appoint where getting teased for over a year gets annoying. Release the fucking game already!

It's very small subtle things, like how his feet move just before they land or how his shoulders sway as he lands on each foot. It looks good because there's a lot of very subtle details.

I am in complete agreement.

March/April sounds beyond reasonable and expected.

On a scale from 1 to GTA V, how big is Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain's budget, exactly?

They have been working on this thing (Fox Engine included) for over five years, when the Metal Gear Solid Rising project started. So it must be pretty fucking expensive at this point. MGS4 had a development period of 3.5 years and a reported budget of $60 million. Figure it out. :p

It annoys me that the per-object motion blur doesn't look like that on PC, on AMD anyway, at least.

I have to look again to see how the per object blur looks on PC NV side.

The xb1 version of the game had really exaggerated obmb (which looked great though), PS4 had a lot less even. Not sure how it looks on my PC atm,

So many small things that together builds an impressive looking result.

TBH most people in real life run around like a chicken with its head cut off.
