I'm sitting here playing Final Fantasy VII and having nightmares about other companies jumping on this bandwagon.
Imagine Square-Enix releasing a FF7 figure set, then a FF10 one, a DQ8 one etc etc.
I should stop giving them ideas.

Geez I might have to actually leave that rosalina from Germany order on. Was about 30 from there.oh well.
That's what I did with Lucario, but with Amazon FR.
I give up on TRU and would rather pay to import than a scalper.
Pshhhhh, I want a big boy Skylanders type game. I'm talking Diablo with Mcfarlane made figures, my wallet is ready.

Meta isn't at best buy no more...I mean I ordered one but I feel like Best Buy has been pretty hit or miss with some of the users on here so I'm not counting on it.

Metaknight is the only hard one for me to get now. Hoping I can just get lucky and walk into a Best Buy after watching them very carefully.

Wave 3 isn't until late Jan/early Feb.
Not sure if you're talking about Capt Falcon, Pit, or Luigi. But Bowser and Toon Link aren't releasing tomorrow.

That is weird, most of the placeholder dates have been in February. But yea the Wave 3 isn't expected until the end of January at the earliest but most likely at some point in February (assuming Nintendo actually gives a date for this wave, unlike what they did for Wave 2).
You're right, Best Buy shows all my wave 3 figures releasing on the 31st except Sheik, she releases today lol.

So my girlfriend who knows nothing about video games turned in to an amiibo dealer over the holidays. Basically, a friend of mine mentioned to her that I was interested in them, and as a gift she thought she'd get me a couple. Apparently, she ended up doing a bunch of research on them, joined a reddit forum, finding out which ones are rare and etc. During December she went around town, bought up all the rarer ones and resold them on our local craigslist for profit.
She gave me Link and Zelda for Christmas, and has a Villager coming from Europe for me. She sold me her last Little Mac, that she was planning to flip, for retail. Fucking girlfriends man.
On a side note, Shulk is the only amiibo I actually really want, and I didn't even realize preorders went up for that ages ago. I might have to use my girlfriend to dig me up one when they release.

Just got an email my pit shipped from toys r us. I believe it is the one i bought after they cancelled orders, i got another email saying my pit is delayed, price is 10.99 which is the coupon price. Im glad i reordered

Had the same reaction. I kind of get the rest, I caught the amiibo bug too. But why wouldn't a gf just give you the amiibo if she knew you wanted it especially when you said she was already making money off of these things anyway, shouldn't have even cost her much of anything.
I guess people have different kinds of relationships, but it's just a $13 toy we're talking about here as a gift.
Hence the "fucking girlfriends" part, lol

I honestly don't think so, amiibos sell to the core. I really dont know too many people who know who Pit, Little Mac, Captain Falcon or Wii Fit Trainer are.
I don't think amiibo is enough.

rosalina is gonna be the top 5 of rare amiibos. I'm hearing foreign sites are sold out of preorder as well. I really hope everyone here can get her =/

No way to tell yet.
On one hand, it seems like the smash bros association got nintendo fans who normally don't buy toys to give them a shot. On the other hand, it seems like most of the people in here are draw by the collectible toy factor ten times more than the game functionality. Of course, kids could totally love the gameplay features even if gaf doesn't. Who knows?
And the sales numbers are certainly pumped to some degree by scalpers, though we may never know how much unless Nintendo hires a really clever market research firm to scour the internet for information.
I got relatively lucky with the exclusives for wave 3, as I'm not really interested in getting Lucario, Shulk, or Meta Knight.
Rosalina is the painful one, as I was hoping to get all the Mario characters. And I actually think Rosalina and Luma look really cool levitating on their clear stands. But, if I don't get it, not a big deal. My wave 3 must haves are Bowser/Sheik/Dedede/Ike, and I have them all pre-ordered.
I am concerned about exclusives moving forward though. I hope they keep exclusivity to an absolute minimum. I'm going to cry if I don't get my Ness and Ganondorf amiibos (I also just need Jigglypuff now to complete the original Smash 64 roster, which is one of my main goals).

I feel like nintendo is testing the exclusives in wave 3. If it is successful, most likely the other waves will include exclusives as well. Maybe the less popular character will be the exclusives?
Edit: Probably mix of both less popular character and popular character for the next wave of exclusive
Forgot rosalina and lucario is somewhat popular.

Picked up a Samus tonight at a south metro Twin Cities Best Buy. Out of the 4 Samus there, 3 had a pretty significant lean.
No Pit or Captain Falcon. Almost all the other "normal" ones were available (no Fox). Still hoping Best Buy comes though with shipping my Captain and Pit. Seems like the orders have been "preparing for shipment" for a week. Hope that means they will be well packed...

If you're planning on opening them and don't care about the packaging just import them.
NA is the only place with retailer exclusive amiibo's.
GAWD. I hope not. This exclusivity nonsense has been a nightmare for those who wanted them. Still waiting for TRU Canada to put the Lucario preorders up. No clear date on when that'll happen. Since Target Canada has no online infrastructure (don't ask me why SMH) it's going to be a blood bath getting the Rosilina Amiibo when it's released. I doubt they'll do in-store preorders.

So using BrickSeek's Target inventory checker I gathered up some stats based the 20 nearest stores in my area:
The remaining (Fox, Captain Falcon, Pit, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, and Marth) are all completely out of stock from all 20 stores.
Couple things I noticed: first off, I don't think we have to worry about Diddy Kong disappearing any time soon.
Secondly, while Zelda, Kirby, and Link's stocks seem really low, I think that's just because there have been so many on shelves for a while now that they didn't bother replenishing stock recently. Finally, Fox and Samus's discontinuation at Target seems legit.
- Mario: 452 total, stocked in 20/20 stores, 23/store average
- Diddy Kong: 179 total, stocked in 17/20 stores, 11/store average
- Luigi: 166 total, stocked in 16/20 stores, 10/store average
- Donkey Kong: 160 total, stocked in 17/20 stores, 9/store average
- Pikachu: 146 total, stocked in 17/20 stores, 9/store average
- Peach: 132 total, stocked in 20/20 stores, 7/store average
- Yoshi: 130 total, stocked in 16/20 stores, 8/store average
