This section of the forum is filled with peopled who hate the game just to hate it, the OT is up to 13 (haters will spin it into 'because no matchmaking' but it's a 'community' thread for a reason)
And there he is, can't have a destiny topic derail with out the ring leader
You would think the game slaughtered his family, kicked his dog and walked off with his girlfriend by the way he slanders this game.
Play with friends and you'll have a lot of fun for a while. ,
Thanks to everyone for contributing so far. It probably is my fault for not investing time in reading up about the game (damn that impulse buyer in me!), but I will give it a try and see how it is. If I find I get a decent length of time out of it then that is money well spent for me. I don't mind a bit of grinding (big fan of Diablo), but if it's not fun then I won't be too disappointed to bail out if I've enjoyed the run up to the grind fest.
I have to admit I am pretty nervous about playing it now haha. My excitement level has dropped a bit but we'll see how it goes
Ignore everything and make up your own mind.

And I was completely ignorant to this. Sorry guys, didn't mean to ignite anything hereThe difference between Gaming and Community Destiny is so jarring. Some people have it really out for this game indeed.
Especially your obnoxious earlier post.
Find the receipt and return it.

Don´t know - OP was asking for best weapons and armor in Destiny which he bought DIGITALLY btw.
Answer is "return it".
So yes - question seems to have been challenging for some.
He also, more generally, asked what tips we'd give to a Destiny novice (which you conveniently left out). Telling him to return it is a legitimate tip, whether you like the advice or not.
Yeah sure.

This is what I probably should have done and stupidly didn't think about itOP bought game from PSN store, many posts include return it...smh. How does that even contribute to the OP? For everyone (including OP, lurkers and in between) go to the Destiny OT for information and questions you may have if new to the game. Outside of that is just gonna get you shit posts tbh.
I thought I would have a good time with Destiny before playing it as well, I imagine everyone did or they wouldn't have bought it.
Turns out, I didn't have a good time with it and wish I hadn't bought it.
What tips would you give to a complete Destiny novice? Anything is welcome. Things to do first? Best weapons? Armour? Etc. That sort of thing.
I will give tipsThanks![]()
It's getting old seeing every single gaming side Destiny thread shit on the game.
The game has problems - very obvious and very annoying problems - and it'll be a while before that course is corrected (if it ever is). Very few people will defend this game's glaring flaws, of which nobody faults others for being disappointed by.
And yet, by some fallacious, ass backwards space magic, we've reached a point where other people's disappointments are contagious and applicable to everybody else. GAF has gone from criticizing the game to criticizing the people still playing the game, as if it's impossible to like the game in spite of boneheaded descisions like releasing a lame ass story or charging 20 bucks for 5 bucks worth of content.
The people still playing Destiny either enjoy the game for what it is or are stuck grinding for what it could be. Whatever their reasons, they're probably getting their money's worth out of it. I don't see anything wrong with people enjoying a flawed game, especially when most of them actively participate in the community to help others and offer feedback to improve Destiny.
This projection needs to stop. By all means, call the devs out on the bullshit, but please keep some of those vitriol opinions about the people doing that very same thing while playing the game in check.
Holy hyperbole. The game is not garbage, the gunplay is fast and responsive especially for a 30fps game. The framerate drops are minimal. The pvp maps are well designed, the tried and true Bungie enemy AI is also great, The worlds are pretty gorgeous etc. If I was the OP i'd be pretty frustrated with actually trying to receive gameplay tips and being hounded with "don't even bother" posts when he hasn't even played the game yet.
Especially for a digitally purchased game - sound advice.
You're right, the gunplay is great. The framerate drops are minimal because graphics wise the game is nothing special.
The worlds are nice to look at but without any decent story or lore who gives a shit about a pretty skybox?
Im not even going to get started on why this game is still HOT GARBAGE.

The game has very nice IQ and excellent art design. I've not seen a single noticable frame rate drop in the hundreds of hours I've played, no matter how many enemies appear on screen and I FPS count on my PC all the time.
I really thought 30fps would be a huge issue for me, but being absolutely stable means I soon forget.
I would like 60fps but 30fps works pretty good for the game. It's refreshing. I never understood people who could say 30 fps is fine, until I played Destiny.
thanks for these tips. I will keep an eye out for Gallahorn, maybe I'll be lucky!I will give tips
Gallahorn is the best weapon you can have in the game... it is crazy how it eats everything but it is random to get it... you can have lucky by loot system or Xur selling it...
Handcanons are the most fun weapons to play in my opinion... I love to use them in PVP.
Fusion Rifles and Snipe Rifles are super useful too.
Pulse Rifles are just bad... I can't use them.

No problem man, DestinyGAF is pretty impervious to gaming side's hate crusade on the game. Stick to the OT, and you'll get some actually decent advice on builds, weapons, armor. Just start on the story mode, don't mind the shitty story, the shooting gameplay is pretty good. If you enjoy that then you're good and can think about starting the endgame grind. It's a great pick-up-and-play game for quick gaming sessions each day.

Not so much buyers remorse as thread-starting remorseI hope OP doesn't get buyer's remorse after all of the hate spewed in this thread. There a ton of reasons to love Destiny and you don't have to go out of your way to find them. Definitely find buddies in the community thread to play with, it'll make it that much better!
If you click that they say they are unable to refund for that reason lol.

Gotta love the Destiny defenders that are in denial about the OT and sadly try to use it as proof of how good the game is. Everyone is very well aware that it's nothing but a handful of people trying to find others to raid with and/or complaining about loot drops. It's been that way since like October.
Also, I vote that you return the game. It's not worth spending any of your time on.
