I didn't know you could carry 2 primaries. How do you do that?

You can carry any two weapons you find on the field. So if you see a sniper lying around you can swap any weapon you have for it, be it a pistol or an AR. You're limited to carrying two weapons, however they can be any weapon you like.

It's all good. If you're used to games with loadouts, they generally allow you to select a primary weapon and a side arm. Hell, even Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker is like that. Halo, up until 4, was all about same starts with weapons spawning on map. Take which ever two you want/can find.

What's a "primary"?

In terms of picking guns up in the field, Halo has never been restrictions as to which weapons you can carry simultaneously. The only limitation is that you usually can't carry the same weapon in both slots (Halo 2 has a bug that allows you to get around that, but otherwise, no).
 
There are very few and very select times where it would be useful. 99% of the time you're just a floating duck...
I was using to catch others off guard. They expected me to fall down at a normal speed, so they went from headshots to body shots. Also you can get different angles if you're following through with a kill or throw in a couple team shots.

Scratch that, Reach did add the Grenade Launcher and had a great evolution of forge. That and ZBNS MLG is still one of, if not the very best Halo gameplay experience to date.

So, 3 good things out of how many god awful things?
 
Thanks for the responses. I get it now. He dropped his pistol and picked up the Sniper. I didn't even think of that. Thanks alot fellas.

Well thankfully 5 has added the best new addition to Halo since forever, to be honest with the thrusters.
 
Getting awful connection lately as well. Taking a whole clip of AR to kill someone. Australians have it rough at the moment.

Update broke the game for me.

I was having lag before since I was playing always on american servers, but I don't know what they are doing now, seems like I'm playing on moon servers or something. Lag is ridiculous.
 
Yup, that's the only thing thrusters do. Nothing else. They're actually completely useless. You're logic is undeniable.

Biggest problem with Halo 5 at the moment is sprint, people should be focusing on raising that issue first.

Sprint + thruster takes the problem to all new heights...
 
Giving every terrible player with woeful positioning skills a built in escape is now a good thing? wow... just wow...

I can see your point if you were launched across the map when thrusters are used. As they are right now they add a new (nice) wrinkle to gun battles, especially at close quarters.
 
You know what I hate about the halo 5 beta. Guns. All it does is give the unskilled derpy scrubs a chance to kill us skilled players. Fuck 343

First off they don't "break map flow". You seem to be assuming that anything which has changed is broken or bad. The map flow hasn't been broken with thrusters, it's changed. The maps are designed with it in mind and as a result it works really well.


Thrusters make duels 10* more interesting than they were in previous games. Halo 5 has the best BR duels of any Halo game by far.

They also create awesome opportunities for skill jumps, and skillful movement in general.
 
I don't think I'm ever going to get used to the Spartan bros in this game.
Love it. Love the callouts and I love the brodown at the end of the match. I ain't even ashamed of it, one of my favorite new additions and I hope they don't take it out.

Now what needs to be removed is killcams and the death music. Killcams are unnecessary in Halo and I don't think they've worked since their implementation. And the music just needs to go.

I actually like the Spartan chatter more than I expected.

but when they say snipes I die a little bit inside.
 
Wondering how the covie weapons are going to work since the AR/SMG are already shield wreckers and covenant weapons are supposed to be superior at taking out shielding. (dynamic was UNSC weapons dealt better damage VS health while Cov. weapons were better against shields).

either means covenant weapons are getting a crazy buff (possibly bad) or will become almost useless (also bad) ((Sans the Carbine))
 
I only ever get kills with the AR, I've probably never gotten a kill using ADS, and I'm pretty sick of the two available maps.
Yet somehow, I'm more inclined to play this than TMCC.

I'm struggling to think of how they're going to fit the Covenant and Promethean weaponry into the current sandbox. Unless they have some very unique properties there is going to be massive overlap.

How is that any different from strafing back and forth from cover?

I'm talking about a BR duel out in the open. It is far more interesting in 5 because of thrusters. In previous Halos, if you had two people with competent aiming, it was literally who could pull off their shots the fastest.
 
Clamber and sprint are the changes that ruin the game for me. I could deal with a delayed smart scope and even thrusters if those other changes weren't included. There looks to be no jumps that you can crouch on to, everything is set to clamber height and elongated for sprint.

For example in Truth it does not look like you can jump from red/blue 1 to red/blue 2 or jump into either window without clambering. Why did they have to remove skilled map traversal?
 
Anyone here play late at night PST (10pm-2am)?

I just hit Onyx and now I'm getting destroyed by organized pro/semi pro teams.
 
Having a lot of fun. Not much of a Halo player so I guess I'm not as bothered with the changes as others. I am hoping they really step up the visuals by launch though.
