Rumor: Destiny DLC Plans leak. Major addon "Comet: Plague of Darkness" coming sep. 15

The artwork for Destiny spoiled me. I adore how it plays and the world design is beautiful but I need more planets before I buy Destiny. I guess that wont happen until Destiny 2.0. I'll even forgive lack of story, just wanna explore Mercury and Europa :(

The big question is how they plan to sell this. I fear a full $60 retail release is inevitable and this is essentially there way of annualizing the series.

I greatly enjoy Destiny, but this is way too much freaking paid DLC for a $60 dollar release that was starved for content. All of these small DLCs would have been free in any other MMO. Comet actually sounds like an expansion, but really more hive? No Fallen or Cabal strike? I'll play though my expansion pass, but I am probably done with Destiny after that until I see them stop trying to nickel and dime their fan base.

I think a good chunk of new free content would garner them a lot of good will from the community. But, I think at this point it's clear they aren't going to do that.

My understanding was that that was always the plan (Game 1, Game + expansion, Game 2, and so on).

I have no problem with it, just with the amount of content that's actually being delivered.

I wonder what the reaction is going to be like when Destiny 2 is revealed to be the existing zones expanded upon, with a couple new planets added.

How is Bungie suppose to improve the game if we dont point out the massive flaws within the game?

You dont think its a little crazy that Activision is trying to get 200 dollars out of 1 game?

You can comment and point out everything without insult people who like the game.

it's like a 1.5 release, a year after the original, their own version of a GOTY package sold as a new release.

From learked stuff their plan seems to be game one year, comet release the next, sequel the year after, comet 2 a year after that...

Ah, to be expected then. Even before release it seemed the gameplan was constant paid updates.

After watching this video along with the other rumors, I agree with this. I really want to know why, especially if there was more story and actual trading. I think most if not all of Destiny's pitfalls are solely due to Bungie's decisions/incompetence.

The first chunk of this video was quite interesting, when it was discussing the promises Bungie had made in pre-release materials, and what may have changed behind the scenes.

Then it goes hilariously batshit insane. I think that guy may have a problem.

They need almost a whole year for the next expansion even with 500+ people working on the game ? lol Destiny will be dead when this hits in September

What this update is free? With how much all the DLC costs you might as well be paying a subscription fee.

I'm more making the point that Bungie has no obligation to do more than it has to at the base level since people are only paying in for the DLC at this point. The install base has probably maxed after the holidays and the player base will likely only go down from here.

Point being that they are going to soak current players for everything they have.

Yeap... I believe it will be sold like a full game.

But I hope that it will be a expansion for current owners already.

Destiny 2 Full: $60
Destiny 2 Upgrade: $40

Like others online games... Diablo 3 1.0, Diablo 3 2.0, Diablo 3 2.1, etc.

Why would they do that?

You didn't get a discount on Diablo 3 for owning Diablo 2, did you? Destiny 2 is a sequel, not a patch.

Something happened in the middle of the Destiny development cycle and whole game went in the wrong way in my opinion. Now they are don't know what to do and how to fix game.

Oh, absolutely. I'm not against the idea itself, just the amount of content being given for the money.

I know I'll lose my shit if this turns out to be the case. I don't mind some of the same planets being used, but they'd better be entirely new areas.

Destiny haters spoil the thread again. Very sick of this.

hate is real I won't disagree and I admit I am one of those.

But you also have to understand people are lied to constantly on their face, then the game releases and its been 4 months and 1 expansion pack has already released and other one is 2 months away and still STILL after all the criticism, and fan feedback, Bungie hasn't acknowledged or said anything that would imply they will get their shit right next time. It feels like they are living in a different world where EVERYONE loves destiny.

Bungies silence is what drives me more mad. I can't think of any developer/publisher who lives in a denial and expect their franchise to thrive in the future.

If they do a release with this expansion and both DLCs, I might be tempted to jump back in. I played pretty far into the base game, but was turned off by the expensive DLCS that are missing a strike on my platform.
A $60 bundle including the expansion and both DLCs with the no-longer-exclusive strikes would be worth it IMO because it would more than double the original game's content.

Hopefully there will be a route for returning or new players to catch up

Well said. I would add that if the Dark Below is an example of the content they want me to buy for $20 in the future, that's a pretty terrible investment on my part.

Bungie have all the stats to see how people are liking the game... so I believe they are happy with what is happening.

It is my personal GOTY even with all flaws... I never had so much fun with a game in years.

I'm excited for more DLC... one Raid or new planet every 3 months is what I need to stay playing the game.

They are happy that a segment of their player base is essentially a captive audience with Stockholm syndrome, yes.

I hope this Comet expansion is actually worth buying because I'm not going to bother with the overpriced DLC content they are putting out now. If they ask for too much money or if the content is mediocre again I don't see myself returning to Destiny. Right the ship, Bungie.

I am very happy with this.

Would love it if they would let me pay $60 for all of it right now
($40 for expansion and $35 for following 2 dlcs so $60 seems like a legit pre order price)

Well, we all knew Destiny 2 wasnt coming this fall, so some sort of expansion content was expected.

I am dreading the price on this Comet as the current Destiny pricing structure is abysmal.

I'm expecting a huge price tag and not enough value... Eh.

I regret grabbing the Season Pass on pre-order and they'll have to basically revamp their way of thinking if they want me to spend more money in this franchise.

Destiny haters spoil the thread again. Very sick of this.

Poor Destiny fans, having to deal with opinions that they dislike on a daily basis.

So just why I play the game and like the game I have Stockholm syndrome lol lol lol

The game is so fun to play that most of the games released this year can't come close to that.

If you want to know reasons given to Bungie to not right the ship, this is it: a guy willing to throw money at them for something that doesn't even exist. Sad.

I said "a segment". If you take that as referring to you personally, that's not my problem.

More wafer-thin content highlighting how clueless Bungie is about their multi-million dollar baby is not implicitly "good".
It's good for the people playing it, I know I'll gobble this stuff up the moment it comes out

I wish this game was made by another developer.

Basically I wish Blizzard didn't scrap their Titan idea.
They didn't, some of it lives on
Beta this January (or is it an alpha?)

It's completely fine to enjoy Destiny (and I'm honestly a bit jealous of you if you do). The combat loop is enjoyable, and it seems to have a strong community built around it, which enhances any game.

But to dismiss people as 'haters' for not liking the game really is being disingenuous - it's one of the largest examples of 'failing to deliver on promises' in gaming history. You may enjoy the final product regardless, but it's in no way what most of us were expecting.

If they did, then we would get a proper stat of Active players rather than spin like total registered users and how many copies it sold.

If Amazon fire sale, free weekend play and SIGNIFICANT drop on the NPD chart is any indication. The game isn't doing well. Please do not tell me there are 13OT on neogaf. I have heard that many times. It doesn't prove anything.

The game is fun, but its unfortunate that you don't feel bad about and are willing to pay more for the content you should have got with the standard game. 20$ for those expansion are just overkill.

This shit Should be in that damned season pass considering how little content they added with their 'expansion'. I paid £35 for that pile of ass only to get 3 rehashed levels which I never even bothered to go back for. If I could get a refund I would but for the love of god give me some content for it at least.

They are happy that a segment of their player base is essentially a captive audience with Stockholm syndrome, yes.

That's the kind of garbage posting that goes way beyond criticism of the game to just insulting people who play it in the nastiest possible way because you don't agree with them. I have a hard time understanding why this kind of posting is allowed on the gaming side and its why so many of us who actually post in the Destiny OT and play the game regularly and enjoy it stay out of Destiny gaming threads now.

Really?

We just had a mass extinction level event happen in an earlier thread where people try to subvert the subject at hand

Talk about the DLC and it's merits or the games faults
Don't try to project all this bullshit again only a day or two after people were banned left and right for this same shit

13 OT's prove there is an ACTIVE community, go on the other message boards, the community for the game outside of GAF is very strong, it's non existent as some people wish it to be.

Unlike everyone that floods destiny related threads, I am fully satisfied with everything bungie has released for destiny so far.

I still don't understand where everyone got such wild expectations of what destiny would/ should be.

This release schedule seems like just the right amount of content before overhauling the game for current gen only in 2016 with Destiny 2

I'm glad the game equivalent of buffet food is good enough for you. Some people expect more for their money, though.
Barbones = titanfall

That is true Barbones

You obviously don't still play it, or only judge by 'story missions'

No one who plays the game cares about story missions they did 400 hours ago.

Prices are too damn high. Should have been 10$/30$.

Can't wait for Wolves to be crappy and the goal posts to move again. "Oh they've clearly learned their lesson Comit will be fantastic."
