Does anyone know what this means? Do I get free repair for this error or do I have to pay?

What's the best course of action, GAF?

If your 360 is less than 3 years old the correct course of action it to attempt to induce the RRoD. Or just say you got it, they might not check.

E74: There is high chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip near the AV cable connection) it can also be caused by a faulty AV cable so check that first. In some cases it is a problem with the GPU and may be repairable by doing the x-clamp replacement (see error 0102)

Send it to MS if it's in the 1 year generally warranty they will fix it if not they will charge you a fee.

According to the Xbox website my console is till "In warranty" so does that mean it gets repaired free regardless?

I'll be telling them RRoD, cos it kidn of is (just not three) >_>

If it's in warranty, you're fine, anyway.

Just do it all online and say the exact error you have.

This is the correct answer.

Word to the wise: don't misrepresent your hardware issue if you're in warranty already. It's vital to ensuring your console is repaired/troubleshot correctly.

There's no advantage to doing it over the phone? I am just wondering if it's better to do it over the phone as I can record who I spoke to, when and such.
