Regardless, you should confirm how close you are. Like I said, it took about 6 months of no payments before they shut off my power.

Then get assessed an overdraft charge and another fee per day until its brought up to positive balance. That just makes things worse.

Well its not that bad with my bank. I assumed he was getting threatened with a shutoff but reading it again I dont think its anything to worry about. Companies usually give you more than a month before they start getting crazy.

You will get multiple bills aka several months behind before they actually cut your electric off. My stupid stepsister always would never pay until it's the last deadline then the process started over. She did this over and over like an idiot until finally moving in with her other family. During the winter there are laws protecting you if you are in certain cold weather states. I'd focus on getting your account out of the red instead of paying your electric bill. The compounding fees over the next month could cripple you.
As for how to get money, buy sell trade thread here to make money on stuff you have to sell. Craigslist sales or even Craigslist jobs, my buddy actually called me a couple hours ago saying that someone in our neighborhood was looking for help moving tomorrow and wanted to know if I would go with him to make easy money.
If you have a car, I think you had a car, try to get a delivery job like pizza or Chinese or something so you get cash daily on off days or nights or Uber looking into Uber myself...

You have a bunch of dvd or Blu Rays around? Sell them to a place that buys them for cash. Bunch of books? Sell them to half price books. I mean you can probably find stuff like that around the house to sell and try and get some money to pay the bill. Even if you can't cover the full bill, if you pay like half and explain your situation they should work with you.

How long was the electricity bill past due? Usually you get a second and final warning before they finally cut your power. May be just wait the 4 weeks? It is no big deal.

Turking takes awhile to start and build up to the good jobs. I made $400 in like 3 months of dicking around in my free time, but if the OP needs $200 quickly I would not bother going this route.
I work for a power company - we would still likely help you out with a payment plan if you called and plead poverty. That or set you up with a local charity that helps people out with bills. It can't hurt to try.

With that said, labor pays. Do a 14 hour shift somewhere at $15 an hr and you may make $200. Or do a 20 hour shift at $10 an hr and you may make $200.
Go to a busy restaurant or a bar, they will always need someone to clean up. They'll pay you cash if you ask.

Option 1: Simply call your electric company, tell them you can't pay now and want to set up a payment plan.
Option 2: Welfare/Social Services. Simply go to your local office. Either through a low income program, or through a normal offering they will bail you out (just once). I'd only use this in extreme emergencies though.
Buy some time with the electric company and donate plasma twice a week. You should be good then.

Are you in a cold state? A lot of states have laws that say they can't shut off your utilities in the winter.
Have you ever used Taskrabbit? You could sign up and do odd jobs for people-ranging from just delivering groceries to putting together IKEA furniture. Might be worth looking into. Good luck, brother.

I'd recommend this. Keep it open and if you do scripts get one that autorefreshes. On lazy days where I want to make a few bucks I just do a few good ones I see here.
If you play the guitar well you can make it a cool $25.

Pawning gets to be almost as bad as a pay day loan.
1) I would recommend going to a temp agency
2) Hitting up something like Task Rabbit if its in your area, or similar.
3) Courier jobs and light office type work
4) Many stores are also about to start their post Christmas inventory and will be looking for workers to handle that. Tends to be hourly, but also tends to be plentiful.
5) Contact your local churches. While I know GAF is generally anti-religion, churches tend to be very free with helping out with such things.... like the same day.
These simple jobs can cover $200 pretty quickly. If it were warmer I'd recommend doing some lawn jobs - they pay quick cash, especially if you're willing to undercut the market.
Some churches and organizations have programs that assist families, and people in need by assisting in bill payments and they run food drives.
You need to find out if there are in your area and see if you qualify. I can understand if you don't wish to go through with this option.

I don't know about the US, but monthly pay is pretty standard here in the UK when you are salaried. I prefer it to weekly or fortnightly for sire (I have had both in the past) having a big lump sum at the beginning of each month allows budgeting easier imo. With weekly or fortnightly you never seem to have much my net in your account which is a pain for emergency situations.

I'm in Montreal and always been paid bi weekly ( every 2 weeks ) or semi monthly (1st and 15th of every month)
I believe it's illegal to pay your employees once a month here.

It's totally normal (and expected) to be paid monthly in the UK. Moving to Canada it was a shock that I was getting paid every couple of weeks.
Took me 10 seconds to find this. Yes, it's illegal to get paid monthly in Canada. All employees must be paid at least twice a month. A pay period cannot be longer than 16 days:
