Project CARS (crowdsourcing) racing sim by Slightly Mad Studios (fully funded 3.75M)

Its a comparison of compressed 720p video. :/

They're not even close when seen first-hand(or uncompressed) with native resolution.

GT6 runs at 1440x1080 native, so it's actually pretty comparable. It's also high dependent on which track you're comparing. Bathurst and Willow Springs in GT6 looks better graphically in terms of detail and art.

But the videos are still 720p. I could make Forza 1 look pretty damn good side by side with GT6 if I shrunk them down to 600x360 or whatever.

That version of Bathurst in Project Cars looks unfinished in the video comparison, doesn't it? I refuse to believe the final version of the track will "feature" those bare/flat environment textures at ultra settings on PC.

SMS have published Ben Collins and Nic Hamilton's feedback in a 400 pages document. These posts have always been public to WMD members, but now they are available for everyone to see. I think they're really interesting, and it's certainly one of the aspects that have surprised me more about the game. I used to think about these kind of consultants as people that marketed the game, gave his image for some dollars and called it a day. Well, not anymore. Ben's feedback has been very good to read, but Nic's has been mega, as he likes to call the cars that work great. He's very, very professional, so I'd recommend you to read his feedback, it is worth it.

Anyone got some good 360 pad settings for PCars?

Some days ago I uploaded a video testing pCARS with the Xbox Controller, and as I said, is still pretty green because it is very abrupt. You can try with the preset "2".

...

As this past week Sector 3 Studios launched for RaceRoom R.E. the DTM 1992 car pack, here a comparison of graphics and sounds with one of its historical cars, the Mercedes 190E Evo II DTM , versus the Project CARS version.

Long time no see.

I've had major eyes surgery. I' m still recoverng (as you can see in my far from solid driving). I hope you enjoy this long and (I really think so) very thrilling race.

After so much time without playing, I found the FFB very changed and I really enjoyed it. I find it very linear. I like the direction it's taken. In comparison with my old FC reports, it feels less agressive, less in your face, way more subtle. At least with default settings.

Nothing at the moment. I wouldn't rule it out yet. From some replies I've red from the devs, it seems there's some kind of agreement that we don't know of that somehow garantees the WiiU version. I can't go into any detail, as it's just somethings that has been hinted without any other backup. So, take it as you wish.

Okay thanks for the reply. I will keep the hope alive :)

Really hope there will be some sort of demo for this game on console. I'd love to give this a shot before deciding to purchase it and want to put the handling model through its paces properly to get a feel for what the game has to offer.

hi
Comparison 60fps the Project CARS Vs GT6 in Bathurst circuit with the Audi R8 Ultra, you can see the difference in graphics, sound and physics of these two games

Thanks for this. Im surprised by how blurry GT6 looks in that video... doesn't look nearly that bad for me in person at 1080p. Also the sound can't be that bad can it? Some cars sound pretty good in the game. I always play in cockpit view though.

PCars looks great and I'll be first in line to buy a copy. GT6 is a miraculous piece of engineering considering the age of the hardware it's on.

Amazing how realistic this game is. Really can't wait for the final release.
The reflections in the mirrors of PCARS have nothing to do with realism ; )

A great-looking game, though. I hope it plays good @30fps on the wiiU.

Some news on the tracks.

Seems like Suzuka won't make it into the final game. Instead SMS have created a fictional version called Sakitto. Mugello won't make it into the first release and will arrie in at a later time through DLC (I'm expecting it to be free, but don't take my word as fact). The good news is that the rest of the tracks that have been shown and that we have iin the game right now will be in the release game.

Although the lack of Mugello at release is really bad news, and I'd love to have Suzuka back, I still think the game has one of the best track selection (if not the best) of ny sim or semi-sim.

For those of you that play with the AI, what percentage do you have them at?

I'm only asking because I am away from racing games for so long, but I feel I should be able to keep up with 80% more than I am able right now. It doesn't help that my Playseat is far back and my monitor is only 21", so playing in cockpit really limits my vision, but I just feel like I'm getting worse with racing games.

What's happening with official licences for teams, liveries, sponsorship and trackside advertising?
Teams are made up; liveries have been mostly created by members, as far as I know; sponsorship is from partners of the game, such as nvidia; and about trackside advertising there's a mix of sponsors and other kind of advertising (I can't really tell about sponsorship true to real life tracks, I'm not into such details).

AI dificulty is at the moment related to the car and the circuit. There're some combos where the AI is quite fast, while in others it is pretty slow. Try different combos and find whether you have a problem with your driving or not.

I haven't been playing very much lately due to health issues, let alone against the AI. Last time I played against them (two-three months ago) I played at 90% and I with the combos I played I was a bit ahead of the fastest AI times. I'm not a super driver, as you can tell from my videos.

I only played the demo of GT6 but it was horrifically blurry after having switched to PC gaming, I don't remember GT5 being so bad but my frame of reference was only Forza 4 and other console racers.

Ah, shame all the sponsorship etc isn't genuine. Dunno why, but stuff like that is important to me in sport sims.

Really glad this got released, it's been a real highlight of the process getting to read the feedback of the pros and the more people that get to see the effort that's gone into getting it right the better!

I must've missed this, but that's awesome. When I used to lurk on the forums, I remember reading some of Collins' feedback and thinking "cool", but the first few responses from Hamilton honestly blew me away... I was really surprised. Can't wait to read that article!

Finally getting a bit excited for this game... haven't fired it up on PC for ages as I'm afraid my GPUs will explode or something.

What was the ETA again?

As long as you have something equivalent to a GTX 670 you should be ok (obviously not max settings... but the game will look good). GTX 980 runs everything maxed @>60fps at 1080p. They have done a great job optimizing the game since day 1.

With that said, at max settings, this is one of the few games (Crysis 3, etc TW2,etc) that pushes my OC'd GPU above 100% power and 70c.

I have a 5970 (and 5850) so it's basically like 3x 5850s. I have no idea where that sits in terms of performance nowadays :/
