IGN:New Scalebound Details. Klobb: "Has potential to be Game of all Time"

this is an excellent gif.

well, i would've thought that statement makes it pretty obvious, eh? :) ...
Well from the footage I've seen, scalebound looks like the most intriguing xbone exclusive yet to be released that's also a new IP. and since we don't know much about it, I *was* sorta inclined to believe it. Now I'm taking it with a grain of salt.
i'd like to see a link where naughty dog or sony said exactly this.

don't keep me waiting too long.
they didn't say anything, but they did end up delivering what is considered by a good many to be the greatest game of all time.
This wasn't a PR statement at all.
It was a podcast interview.

The article title is typical IGN clickbait bullshit.
but it was still a PR rep in the podcast who made the statement, yeah?
You are a running gag at this point.
at this point, my gaf career is still primitive.

Doesn't any game really have the potential to be GOAT? MS marketing an exclusive like they should, nothing else to discuss...

PRBSS1: "Hey Bob, tell little Jimmy here how great our next game is going to be."

PRBSS2 (aka "Bob"): "Hey little Jimmy! It's going to be soooooo good! The best game ever!"

Little Jimmy: "Oh Boy!"

Note: PRBSS stands for Public Relations BullShit Spewer

Evil Within was #3 in October NPD

But it got shit reviews. When the old masters make a new masterpiece, it gets torn apart for not being modern enough. The same fate awaits Scalebound. Doesn't change the fact it'll be the best Xbone game by a wide margin though.

What are Microsoft Studios bringing to the table? They're going to buy Platinum and force them to make yearly sequels?

Isn't it going to be Monster Hunter with Platinum's trademarked excellent controls and combat mechanics? Thought that was already known, was I just dreaming?

I think since this is coming from the KLOBB himself, at the very least this means the game is showing promise.

I think getting a dragon game to have widespread appeal is a very tall order, but you would think with the love Platinum gets round these parts that there would be less skepticism in this thread.

Will it have a larger budget and be better than Bayonetta 2? Yes
Did Bayonetta 2 get tons of really high scores? Yes
Therefore it isn't unlikely that this could be at the least a hallmark title of the generation.

People should be stoked that MS is giving the Platinum A team a very sizable check and creative license.

I feel like this game is only being made with money in mind and not actually what Kamiya wants to do... it will probably look really nice and be technically sound but have no soul (see also: Lost Odyssey)

Those are fighting words bro.

Edit- Who would publish PG game with money only in mind lol

Kamiya, Kojima, and Mikami are the three people whose involvement guarantees a game purchase day 1.

If the XB1 is 250 when this come out, it will be mine.

Didn't Kamiya say it was his dream game or something similar like he wanted to make this game for awhile? Could just be reading some PR thing from MS but he generally doesn't do that.

Online infrastructure. Ken Lobb hinted that the Scale in Scalebound meant big. Most likely going to be one of the games that shows off MS' cloud tech along with Crackdown.

Not sure if I should be surprised or not that GAF is willing to hate on a Platinum game just cause it is Xbox exclusive... lol

Man, I'm increasingly curious about what this title is going to turn into. Stuff like this is a big blah though.

What does Platninum do well?

Make games that dont sell.

What does Microsoft do well?

Kill great studios.

Uh oh.

BRUH.

Don't do this. Go knock on wood asap. :(

It's a platinum game so it's going to play great and sale like shit.

Edit: Unless it is all a ruse and it's really Metal Gear Rising: Scalebound. Then it will sale great and play ok.

After such a bold statement, the first thing to come to mind when thinking of "What does Microsoft do best?" was Mr. Molyneux.
I have a lot of respect for Mr. Lobb, though, and I am very interested to see how Scalebound turns out.

I'm sure it'll be good, but I'm trying this thing where I don't get hyped for upcoming games anymore.

2016, so maybe!

I thought it was obvious he meant multiplayer when he said what MS does well. Also, this was on a podcast which IGN lifted for some clickbait, MS didn't release a PR statement saying "Scalebound to be greatest game of all time".
