I hope we get a lot of the roster so we get more cool art like this

I just hope that they feature more than a few shocking characters. This isn't Tekken, after all - as long as they can attack and grab and shit, I think that they are fair game. As long as we get Blastoise, Venusaur, Charizard, and Quagsire, I'm sold.

Wii U release date please ?

Also give me some crazy non bipedal pokemon footage
Don't expect Wii U info until the arcade version is a few location tests in, or possibly when the arcade version hits Japan.

It'll probably be a 2016 title as far as the Wii U version is concerned.

I hope you guys are ready for Pokken Amiibos.

I bet on Pokken amiibo CARDS
that will be used also on the arcade cabinet in Japan (as for Dragon quest Monster Battle roads or even FZer AX I believe) and for the connectivity from cabinet to Wii U even

Arcades do tend to use cards to store your stats across cabinets. It'd be genius to use NFC in said cards so the Wii U can read them in the eventual console release (kinda like how GameCube Memory Cards could be used on F-Zero AX machines to unlock extras in F-Zero GX). That way your win-loss percentages, quick select options, control set-ups, etc. could transfer between the Arcade & Wii U versions (hell, release a stick that can plug into the GameCube Adapter).

I hope the roster is huge.
Given the development cycle for fighting games & the fact that this is the first entry in the series, don't count on it. We may get a few extra characters for the console release, but nothing more. I'd temper your expectations to around 12-20 characters.

yes, that is what I ws thinking of: considering their recent NFC card comments, I wouldn't be surprised. plus, cards would be cheaper and they could justify to sell one card per each pokemon of the rosters, without pissing consumers off (while being forced to buy a 12 bucks amiibo figures per each fighter could be...problematic)

btw, do we know if the "evolved" versions of a pokemon will be part of special final moves, or will be separate character or whatever?

I'm so pleased that Pokken turned out to be a Pokemon fighting game.

I would have preferred a 2D fighter like MvC or SF though.

I suspect we might see the closest Pokémon to existing fighting characters in Tekken or otherwise.

What I'm getting at is Hitmonlee will be Hwoarang, Hitmonchan will be Steve Fox and Hitmontop will be Eddy Gordo since there's no way these guys aren't making it.

Some random thoughts:

I don't think we should expect more than 20 characters at most.

I don't want Greninja or anyone else that is already in Smash. Let's have the lesser-known ones get some spotlight. Pikachu will probably happen though, because it's Pikachu.

The fact that Harada is working on a Wii U exclusive is a good sign for the future of this game since he's already in touch with Nintendo.

I'm excited for the 23rd.

I don't expect a Wii U announcement until after it comes out in Arcades. How often are console versions announced prior to Arcade releases?

Well the Wii U is in a unique position
(No third party games)
. Maybe they will fast track the Wii U version. It is pokemon after all.

Hopefully, if Pikachu is in, it'll be Pikachu Libre

To be fair, it'd be incredibly unlikely for this to be arcade only. I'll be surprised if a Wii U version isn't in development now, just waiting for tweaks from the arcade stuff

I love Pokemon. I love Tekken. Blaziken and Lucario are my two favorite Pokemon and are both already confirmed. I am so hyped for this... I wonder how type advantage will impact this game?

I'd buy a Pikachu Libre amiibo in a second.

Also I think Greninja is a given unless they stick exclusively to fighting types for some reason.

Well, there's two ways I can see this going.

On one hand, I could see TPC and Nintendo pushing for a console port to happen as soon as legitimately possible, because that's the main way that they would be able to market this game to a worldwide audience. (Which would fit TPC's desires to see this game at their own championship events and the like.)

But on the other hand, Namco would likely want to keep it in arcades for as long as possible, because that's how they make their money. Worst case scenario, a Wii U version doesn't happen until after a major, "Tekken 6: Blood Vengeance"-style revision. Which might add on another 6 months beyond the usual 6-12 months wait time.

Pokémon games do have decent legs though, and this game would sell a lot, even on the Wii U, so it's tricky

I'm hoping that we're getting an April to June arcade launch for this and November/December Wii U launch for Japan, Spring 2016 worldwide...or maybe they do it the other way round and have it Winter 2015 for Europe & America, where arcades are dead, and Spring in Japan where arcades thrive.

Note: the above is speculation and not indicative of insider knowledge

Presumably they'll be doing one or two joke characters, one or two Tekken guests and the rest will be humanoid Pokemon like Mr Mime or Hitmonchan?
