Those environmental effects and birds. I didn't even notice them when I watched the trailer. If feels so good to finally see a game that is truly beyond last gen in more than graphics. The expanse is so beautiful. I want to here more about the mecha next.

One of the things that makes this game stand out, in my opinion, is the environmental effects, as you mentioned. From the particles floating through the air, to the smoke and mist passing in front of you, to the active wildlife doing as they please. These things come together to create a vivid world that not only looks great, but also feels alive. Put all of this into a beautifully crafted, giant world with various types of environments, and you have yourself a world that allows for exploration as much as the player appreciates it.

I'm probably late as all hell, but one of those animated GIFs made me realize this big guy:
i'm not quite sure this is an enemy.
i'm leaning towards yes but my so (who put 130+ hours into xb) thinks no.
still kinda looks like one of those spider tank mechs from bionis sword to me...well in organic disguise

But I speak Japanese, dude. Hence I want (and I can) play the game in its original version. Dude. Why should I subject myself to the shriekings screams and flat interpretations of western voice acting?

Well Xenoblade had the JP voice acting in the western release so Xenoblade X could have the original voice acting as well.

I just didn't know if you were aware it's confirmed for 2015 in the west, thought I might have been saving you some trouble.*shrugs*

It's just that the models really haven't improved much since Xenosaga, which is a shame. The 2D art will be outstanding though, no doubt. Tanaka is ace

Monolith, from what I've seen of their work, are great designers of scale and awe, world and lore builders, (and the engines capable of doing said) but I've never been a fan of their character models and character aesthetics.

Seriously can't wait for this. This was easily one of the best parts of the Direct.

Seeing that giant spiraling cactus cock monster is triggering my PTSD from the first Xenoblade, where I'd wander too close to a lv. 90+ Unique Monster and aggro it.

I'm all for redheads, but the male main avatar they used in the trailer looks like he tripped and poked his face with an ugly stick. No me gusta.

Now...if there's an option to make the avatar look more like Reyn...

Depends on the customization options present although judging by Space Rihanna in the treehouse demo there seems to be a healthy choice of options.

Maybe the whole party will be customizable.

So everyone can look like Reyn

Oh wow, I missed this!
The scale and detail of the environmental design is quite impressive (Seeing the player character jump off a tall cliff towards a huge lake was pretty awe-inspiring.); I'm really digging the look and behavior of the wildlife, it looks like they've basically packed a little digital ecosystem into the disc.
Good stuff!
I think the only thing I"m not digging so far are the characters faces...they look a little weird at times.

I assumed one of the 3 wouldn't make it in 2015: Starfox, Xenoblade, or Zelda.

But it's sounding like they're all scheduled for 2015. That's crazy. And exciting!

THEY'RE SINKING CITIES WITH GIANT WORMS!

It is releasing on 4/29/15 in Japan so I'm assuming it'll make it west this year.

If Zelda is coming this year, you can likely expect Xenoblade to come this year too. Obviously Xeno might be more dialogue / voice driven (and maaaybe bigger in scale?) but I have a feeling you'll see it this year.

Yeah, I agree. I actually think it'll be earlier than people think. I'm thinking that if Zelda is making it out this year it won't be until December. That puts Star Fox probably at October/November since they said it would be out before Zelda but we haven't seen anything from it. I'd place Xenoblade in late August or September personally. They probably already have some of the localization process started and by the time it releases in Japan will be well underway with it. That, and I can't see them wanting to release multiple AAA games of theirs for the same platform at the same time.

NoE sure...
NoA....
We'll get a physical release. NoE will just get an awesome collector's edition and we won't. Either that or we'll get a severely limited one that'll be snatched up by scalpers in 5 minutes.

Looks awesome.

Three things I'm wary about at this stage though:
  1. Character faces. Those creepy looking eyes in particular, with their heavy "eyeliner". Xenoblade's faces might have been really low-res and pretty crappy, but they didn't look wrong the way these ones do.
  2. The music. Everything I've heard so far hasn't exactly filled me with confidence, and I hope singing isn't so prevalent in the actual game. Certainly I haven't heard anything up to par with the most of the tracks from Xenoblade yet. Where's our Gaur Plains equivalent? If they had one surely they would have given us a taste by now.
  3. Voice acting. It's assumed the voice actors for the English version will be American, and given past experience there's not much chance I'll like them. I very much doubt they will be up to par with Xenoblade's British voice acting at least. I guess as long as there's an option for Japanese voices it will be fine though.

None of these would detract from the game in a big way, it still looks amazing, but when you're hoping for a game to live up to its "prequel" and to be the best it can be, they can be disappointing aspects.

Actually, I wonder if they'll opt for British voices just to stay consistent with the presentation they established with the first Xenoblade. Yeah, it's a different world (presumably), but people still associate "Xenoblade" with characters like Shulk and his chipper accent.

I doubt they do just because the city they live in even says "United States" on it. I think these characters are American.

Yeah basically this. It would make no sense for them to speak in British accents (unfortunately).

Also the only reason we got them for the last one is because NoA didn't give a crap about that game initially, whereas they certainly care about this one.

I can't be the only one who thinks they won't dub this... can I?

This is by far my most anticipated game. The environments are huge. Just looking at those large creatures in the background gives me the chills. Can't wait to run around in that world.

I can't be the only one who thinks they won't dub this... can I?

Why would they not? It feels like Nintendo is pushing this ten times harder than they did Xenoblade, and that got dubbed. If nothing else, NoA will wait and steal Europe's English dub again, since NoE doesn't seem determined to prove the people who view Nintendo products as second-rate correct, like NoA seems to want to.

Has Nintendo ever released an undubbed game with lots of voice acting? Genuine question.
