I wonder what the punishment would be if he did.
What if Belichick is telling the truth. I mean in the past he didn't stonewall answers about possible cheating or illegal allegations. On spy gate he said he interpreted the rule differently. He didn't deny doing it. This time he is denying it.
Maybe Brady comes out and openly admits to paying the ball boy to deflate the balls. He wouldn't be the first to admit it. If it is on the player, and not the coach, how do you punish less than two weeks before the super bowl?

Sure, but why the Patriots? Why go after the upstanding citizens of the NFL, the team that represents all of the positive characteristics the league is hoping to portray through their franchises? It just seems so odd to me, like running a news story about how despicable and hateful Mother Teresa was or something.

Because they just have to be dirty. They've been so good for so long. Some people just can't accept that it's due to good coaching, good personnel moves and a lot of luck with the QB's health. The team has to be dirty. They have to be cheating. Otherwise teams would have to take a look at themselves. It's easier to go after the Patriots.

The Pats would have been better off just having multiple key guys get suspended for PEDs like everyone else.
Also - the fact that Belichick did the whole "wasn't me, ask Tom" thing makes me feel even worse about Brady's iffy contract status.

He had been listed with a thigh/leg injury since the SD game. The two injured thighs were a bad report, there was only one, which Peyton even addressed in the postgame interview after the divisional game.
Bill straight up lies about his injury reports, which has been confirmed by former players.
