Embargo on Japan Studio's new game and another JP studio lifts in early February

Marty Sliva said it wasn't The Last Guardian, and he couldn't say the name of the other studio. Doesn't really say much in the 4 minutes I listened to besides being a game he was looking forward to for awhile, and the visit confirmed his expectations (he doesn't say which game he was talking about). The discussion starts at 1:32 and the embargo detail is around 3:50.

EDIT: I should probably remove the word "new" since it's not stated.

To clarify, he visited 2 different studios. One was Sony Japan Studio and the other was a studio he couldn't mention.

Uh, did he at least say if it was an unannounced or unrevealed game? Because Hot Shots Golf PS4 is a thing that exists but we've seen nothing of post-TGS.

Solidsnakex mentioned that some Employees working on Bloodborne followed some IGN employees on twitter.

We might also get an IGN First for Bloodborne

I listened to this yesterday and specifically searched for that, but nothing he said implied it was an unannounced game.

Still, if it was an already existing game I'm not sure why he wouldnt be able to at least say what it was he saw.

My gut tells me it's just going to be a bunch of new info on something that we already know about

It's Bloodborne. Marty loved the souls series and February embargo will be close to the March release so it's a good time for a preview.

Embargoes exist for previously announced games. HSG PS4 wasn't given a title initially, so it could very well be it. It seems a bit more ambitious than previous entries.

He said he went to a mystery studio on day 1 and Sony Japan another day. One of them is probably just Bloodborne since he said it's a game that he's been excited for for a long time, implying that it's not an unnounced game. I'm guessing that could be featured as a IGN First game in February.

I think both are already announced games.

Its either GR2 or something small like Rain

i'd happily take more small PSN titles like rain. it wasn't the best game but it was beautiful and creative enough to be very enjoyable. always happy to see larger studios taking chances like that.

Quotes, just 'cause.

Around 1:30

Marty: "I went to Sony in Japan... I can't say exactly what it was for. You'll know in a few weeks. It's coming, I'm very excited for it. [We went to] 'Blank' the first day, and the second day we went to Sony Japan, which was amazing... A lot of people assuming it was The Last Guardian, it was not The Last Guardian... yeah, Sony Japan, that office is awesome."

Around 3:50

Greg: "When will you be able to talk about these games for the public?"

Marty: "Early February. It's a game I've been excited for quite a bit, and everything I saw was just confirming my expectations for the game."

Annnnyway, possibilities based off things we know:

  • Sony Japan - Bloodborne (game is coming out in March), Gravity Rush 2 (overdue for re-reveal)
  • Other Studio - I would imagine he can't say where he went because it would give it away. So perhaps Atlus (Persona 5 - early February coincides with Persona Super Live 2015)?

I think it's Gravity Rush 2, if it was Bloodborne I think we could at least name the game.

Why wouldn't he be allowed to say the name of an already announced game (TLG is a game I can see the reasoning for)? Normally when people mention embargoes I can see the name of the game.

Gravity Rush 2 could be the other game. It wouldn't be the game he's really excited for though since he barely played the first one. He's my PSN friend and he's got one trophy for GR.

There was an Microsoft event last week to showcase 3 games. Journalists were embargoed to name the games until this Tuesday. The 3 games were Ori, Screamride, and State of Decay. None of which were unannounced games.

One of them is Bloodborne. Yasuhiro Kitao (one of the PR people for Bloodborne) started following Marty and another IGN staffer on twitter a few days ago.

Actually, he's also the PR guy for Gravity Rush. His backdrop is of GR2 and his avatar is a picture of himself drawn by GR's character designer.
