Dying Light Global Launch Dates Confirmed, Be the Zombie Mode Now Free

I bought the ultimate edition on ebay for £23, they then sent me a gift with VPN instructions....

I am not comfortable doing VPN but here in Europe we have been screwed over due to the physically delay, I had it on order from Amazon for £18 but that was the PC physical...

I was going to buy a ROW version but the moment they announced a delay in Europe prices went from £20 to £30 in a heartbeat...

I don't know how steam reacts to the VPN trick as it is against their TOS, but just about every key seller is now advertising the VPN method steam is going to be busy if they decide to act :)

Is there any chance you can PM the VPN instructions to me? thanks in advance if you can

I saw the Russian version for $10, how does that work if I buy it as obviously I am not in Russia

I'm guessing it's a key? The game's RU/CIS pre-order subs have no heavy-handed region-locking measures, so once you activate the key you don't need to worry about using the VPN again, however its post-release subs do, so if you do go ahead with the purchase, make sure, to the best of your ability, that it's a pre-order key.

Just a word of warning: Using a VPN to activate region-locked gifts is playing with fire since, from Valve's perspective, you're knowingly circumventing regional restrictions in an attempt to avoid the pricing intended for your Steam Store region. Valve has brought the account restriction hammer down upon those who, for instance, have a history of using a dummy account to buy from the RU store to gift games on the cheap to their main account and getting around the activation lock on gifts is practically no different -- the restriction exists for a reason.

Using a VPN to activate region-locked keys, on the other hand, Valve has historically turned a blind eye to, presumably because it doesn't see a cent from them. In fact, a select few region-specific titles are tied to activation-restricted retail subs (e.g. Football Manager 2012 Korean can only be activated from South Korean IPs), so game collectors like myself don't have much of a choice. ;)

I will post for others as well, don't see how it is against forum rules?

Hello and many thanks for your purchase.
The game was sent to your pay pal e-mail for VPN activation in Steam.

Here are the instructions for the VPN:

Step 1: Download the VPN Client from http://www.flyvpn.com/download
Step 2: Start the VPN Client from the file that you have downloaded
Step 3: Go to http://www.flyvpn.com/freetrial and on the RIGHT side find the Free VPN service account and password (There are two options. Choose the vpnu account)
Step 4: Enter the username (account) and password into the VPN Client and log in
Step 5: Choose Europe - > Russia 1 or Russia 2 depending on the load and press the connect button.
Step 6: When you are done with the activation press the disconnect button and close the VPN Client

my big tip is if like me it is a gift, DO NOT hit the url on the email until you are on the VPN or you will get a error and then it wont let you redeem it even when you are on the VPN

I did mine on a different computer using steam browser

just make sure you understand the risks, Steam can if they wish put your account in limbo for this

I'll just clarify that Valve no longer locks people out of their accounts. A few years ago now, this:

It was an angry post.

They did right to get rid of the pre-order requirement - that's obvious, but when you advertise something big like an exclusive game mode as a bonus and replace that at the last moment with nothing then you're still showing your greed and are screwing people over by not offering any alternative whatsoever for the bonus you're taking away.

It was bad enough I had to preorder to get a game mode because the game seemed interesting and I didn't want to be locked out, despite not being fully committed.
Now I'm locked in with no real reward for taking the risk (other than the cheap version I got, but that's not the same for everyone).

And no difficulty modes...what :/ Not giving these guys the benefit of the doubt next time.

it's assuming people pre order mainly for bonus.
(in my case you're wrong and i believe i'm not alone)

I bought a normal EU steam key but I will still have to VPN the game to get it cause it's not being sold on Steam in Germany :D

Too violent for us!

Assuming the key is tied to the same rest-of-world pre-order package used on the Steam Store itself you'll actually be able to activate it just fine with your usual IP.

Edit: Steam users: At some point between the pre-load period going live and now, there's been a ~400MB update to the pre-load data. You can force an update check by clicking the "Pre-load" button in the client -- doing this periodically will save you from having to download any modified/additional data during the data decryption process.

There is no active stream right now but there are 1,300+ people in chat having a philosophical conversation about higher powers.

I just wanted to see the gameplay.

There's a few - http://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Dying Light

I wish there was a cheaper way to get this in the UK digitally this week... I'd be happy to go digital but £55 versus my £35 preorder is just a crazy difference. That makes our basic preorder price over $80.

I posted on HUKD but the deal got slammed into oblivion by people on there who don't accept people not might want to wait a month

but in summary buy from the xbox store in the US, works out at £40

XBOX ONE ONLY

Microsoft seems to have decided completely against both cross-regional PayPal and credit card use. Now the only way to buy stuff is with Microsoft Xbox Gift Cards. These are sold in many places but the best way is to go to Amazon.com and buy them there. Below is a direct link to that page.

http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-Gift-Card...dp/B00F4CEHNK/

You need a couple of things to buy from the US Store. Create a vPost account and use that address when adding your credit card to Amazon.com and when adding a billing address on your Xbox. Using that would make sure that the address you use is actually linked to you, even though all the codes will be sent by email (remember to buy "online game code" and not "card"). Remember that you must choose the vPost address as your Amazon.com billing address or you won't be able to buy the codes.

Using the address from vPost lets you buy from the US Store. Since it is an Oregon address you will not have any added sales tax.

With these things in hand, follow these instructions:1.On your Xbox One go to Settings>System>Language & Location and change your Location to United States and press reboot.
2.Go to Settings>Payment & Billing>Change/Add billing address
3.Enter your name and the address provided by vPost
4.Redeem your codes from Amazon
5.Buy stuff
6. (Optional) Change back region to whatever it was before, don't worry, you can change as often as you want and your billing info is saved for the next time you want to switch to the US Store and buy something.

Will be getting the game on PS4 just because it's where I have more buddies who'll play coop, but thanks for the guide. Tempted to just buy it from Amazon US and create a US PSN account. Comes to roughly £40 (the price that the game SHOULD be on the store anyway) and it seems simple enough...

Glad to hear this. I just happened to be watching a stream of this before I came into this thread and it looks pretty good. It went from a buy bomba price only to maybe day one.

Man, this game comes out tomorrow and no buzz it would seem.

Did anyone manage to get an early copy and have some impressions? I'm really curious how this one plays out

Sadly that's what happens when you're restricted to make OTs on the day of release and not before. No chance to generate hype or answer questions people may have.

here's my summary:

The backlash and fear of even lower sales than originally forecast forced us to repackage the DLC, which should have been included in the core game to begin with, as part of the core game once again.

Sincerely,
Video game studio

Yeah I guess so. But surely there's someone here who got the game from a mom and pop shop? There's a few streams up but it's hard to tell without playing it

I don't have the game or anything but I did get to play a demo at PAX yesterday. The traversal is all really smooth. The weapons felt good. I got to use a gun, melee weapons, and this electric ax thing. Had to fight this one huge zombie too. Too a lot to take it down. It's not super easy either. I got surrounded by a pack and they took me out pretty quickly. Had to start over. I enjoyed it.

I'll probably be picking it up this weekend along with a buddy from work so we can do some coop.

Didn't know there were guns in this- thanks for the feedback!

Heads up for Middle East GAF, game should be out at your local shops on PS4/XB1 so give them a check see and grab yourself a copy if you're interested in it :p

Just tried to preorder from Best Buy for store pick up and they are sold out at every store in my area. So either it's a more popular game than we think, or they are getting like 3 copies per store.

Thank God.

The no review thread had me worried. Thanks for the impressions. Hope I line it!

Why else would you preorder it anyway.

They advertised a bonus for months which they removed from the preorders at the last moment, without offering up a replacement.
They should be accountable. It speaks to their way of doing business. No care, just greed. I don't even mind that I was being an ass about it, they deserve it tbh.

Why should we let companies get away with taking away pre-order bonuses at the last moment after hooking people with them.
Pre-order Halo 6 now to get the final mission exclusive! No pre-order, no final mission! It itself is bullshit (much like this was) and then imagine after hooking people they abandoned it with no bonus at all to the people that hooked.

Anyway, I'll leave that there. I'm just mad I fell for their pre-order bs.

Lol I probably wouldn't even get that angry if my game didn't work at all if I only paid $12

You're right, even if you paid more tbh it's a game bonus, not the end of the world but it's about the principle of the thing, and I paid about $20 iirc. If you pre-order in the UK they charge you up front at most places too.

I'm guessing it's a key? Thanks for the info but just a tad confused... I'm pretty sure mine was a pre-order key...gift...or it was gifted to me by a russian seller that posts in the neogaf buy/sell thread. I was able to start pre-loading a few days back no problem. I had already attached it to my account a while back.

It unlocks in about 12 hours...do you think I will I need to VPN and am I at risk? It's a pre-order version but it was a gift, not just a key that I attached to my account. In the account details it says:
"Dying Light RU+CIS Pre-Purchase Gift/Guest Pass"

I pre-ordered this for PS4 last summer as part of a E3 deal that knocks essentially about 20 dollars off. It looks like it may arrive today but I may consider returning it since the PC version comes out to be only 10 dollars more even with the discount. Not sure if it's worth coughing up the extra money though, keeping the PS4 copy and playing it tonight or returning it outright and waiting for a price drop on Steam.

...decisions *scratches chin*

You're fine. The game's original RU/CIS pre-order sub, which was replaced for some reason, is completely region-free.
