What about EVO?
Well that's an interesting idea. But I think any commentator worth their salt should be providing commentary that's enjoyable for all audiences.
Or maybe they'll be providing more information on the players themselves for people who might not be familiar with them? idk.
This has 4 Smash games, EVO only has 2.
Though I think Melee at EVO can beat Melee, 64 and Brawl at APEX combined, provided it isn't capped.
Newcomer stream is basically going to be like Dota 2's The Invitational noob stream where it'll be geared towards people who aren't familiar with competitive Smash Bros. play. It'll be headed by Nintendo and Screwattack. They might explain why items are off, why they aren't rolling all the time, what certain terminology means, cover the basics really.
On top of that, Apex is going to have an Analyst Desk between games where they'll switch to a desk that has some commentators highlighting some stuff from the match. This will be covered by Wife, Tafokints, and Scar. I think this part will be running throughout the weekend and on VGBC's stream. Geared towards the people who always kind of complain about how nothing deeper is talked about during a game.

Evo 2014 had ~970 entrants for Melee, Apex 2015 has over 1000. Evo 2015 may crack that, but for now ... Apex is it.
Yes, Seacacus. I'd definitely recommend going to spectate if you can. The hype in-person will be through the roof.

Ah ok, makes sense, though I think it's a bit more necessary for Dota2 considering it's a hell of a lot more complicated than Smash for the average person to follow.
Analyst Desk sounds like a great idea. Anything that gives us more Wife is a good thing.
Would not be surprised if Melee at EVO got like 1400+ this year, the scene is growing at a massive rate.

Though I'm honestly way more excited for Ken vs PC in the Salty Suite. PC kept playing way longer, and imo ended up way better of the two. But Ken had a few notable wins here and there. I think I remember hearing that he beat lucky in a tournament. Honestly, I dunno man. It could go either way.
especially if weather prevents a decent amount of entrants from making it this year, I assume a lot of them would redouble their efforts to make it to evo.

I hate what that's gonna do to the viewer count. I don't mind missing the ball game, but I'm sure many people are fans of both.
Lol. Would be amazing to see Leffen lose. But even when it's a shutout, the lead up has already been entertaining enough.
That's the thing I'm worried about. Unless there exactly isn't a major overlap between the fans of both, the problem is that there is an incentive to watch both the Super Bowl and the Commercials (or I guess switch it to the Puppy Bowl), so there will never really be a free moment. You might have a computer or something to stream, but I'd imagine a fair amount of people would just be flat out gone at a Super Bowl party somewhere.

No, last year it was a week earlier. They picked this date months ago.
I think this is the first year they lined up. Normally it was earlier in January. I think I remember it pretty much coinciding with AGDQ one year.

Yes, absolutely. If nothing else, they'll be up on VGBootCamp's Twitch for a while after. But within a few days everything will probably also be up on Youtube, and then later organized on vods.co.
There won't be too much going on tomorrow. Saturday and Sunday are the main parts.
