Square Enix teasing new PS4 title - Project Code Z [It's Minna de Spelunker Z, F2P]

Do we actually have a time for when this is? Like in this many hours?

I played Chrono cross before I knew chrono trigger was even a thing so my memory isn't tainted by trying to have it live up to trigger. As a result I like cross quite a bit. It is an excellent rpg

Cross was pretty sluggish and I recall it having bad load times. I thought it was a great game, but I think it would heavily benefit from a "remaster" to the point where if some of its technical limitations were attended to, it could legitimately make the game better. I feel that way about Final Fantasy IX as well.

Not to mention the colors and art would look fucking outrageous in HD. Wait why the hell are we even talking about Chrono Trigger, no way they're making a sequel because since the DS sales didn't meet expectations it told Square-Enix that we don't want another Chrono game.

Hate is strong but I seriously dislike it. Didn't like the magic system or the redundant cast of characters. Didn't like the dimensional stuff and it feels only tangentially related to Trigger. Honestly when I played it originally, I felt like they just abused the Chrono name to put out an average game.

Had some of those complaints as well, but I still thought it was a brilliant sequel. The quantity of party characters was a drag and missed the point of the original game's crew which was one of the best things about it (limited number but very diverse and colorful), and I absolutely hated how the game makes you play as
fucking Lynx who is one of the most uninteresting characters and villains
for the better part of the game.
 
Maybe it's just me, but I get a Seiken Densetsu 2/Secret of Mana-vibe from the teaser graphic.

I have a feeling that it's an entirely new IP, though. Hopefully not for the iOS...

Yeah that spoilered part.. I was VERY annoyed at that. I just... I didn't like it. The only way that I can describe it really is that Cross isn't technically bad.. but it was just a combination of things that didn't suit my taste. And being connected to one of my top 3 of all time games just made that worse.

It makes me think Mana too. (didn't the director say he wanted something bigger than a mobile game for the next entry?), I doubt SE would make another AAA Mana game after all the positive reviews and sales that the last game did not receive. But I could see a mid-budget Mana being a possibility.

Maybe an expanded Rise of Mana =P

(Also, it says PS4 on the website, it's not iOS)

It's not like Serge was the greatest protagonist ever, but I liked his character design and that's who I wanted to play as through the whole game. That switch was jarring and greatly outstayed its welcome.
By far the worst aspect of that game, which I think is otherwise excellent.

CC is far from garbage and is better than 90% of jrpgs out there.

Looking at the tweets to the account, it narrows down to these (obviously removing troll stuff like DBZ and Zelda):

- FFX-3
- Star Ocean
- Mana (Seiken Densetsu)
- Musashi
- FFXII-HD
- Parasite Eve
- FFVI
- SaGa
- Ehrgeiz

And other generic stuff like zombie game/mmo/ios ports. There weren't that many tweets which made it pretty easy >.>
 
I remember getting a 5 track CD soundtrack when pre-ordering Chrono Cross from Funcoland. I fell in love with it and went into the game with a bias. Therefore, I have only fond memories of it.

If people are guessing correctly, it's not a new IP. Holy shit. Are they actually going to show us the goods!?

If it's Project Code Zodiac, as in FFXII International for PS4 I will seriously lose every bit of my shit.

Hm... I'd guess mana or ffxii-hd but still gonna hold hope for something else, star ocean would make me happy as heck!

They announced a saga game for the vita so I doubt its that.

Mana seems like the easy bet, but I'm gunna say new Musashi.
FFX-3 could count as well, Z being for Zanarkand.
