New "Final Fantasy Type-0 HD" footage [Taipei gameplay + characters bios]

Perfo

Thirteen flew over the cuckoo's nest
Wow, that looked awful. Dull, weightless combat, mind numbingly repetative, an empty, poorly design environment, terrible physics and animations, and just generally sub par art style and designs.

I know this is a PSP game underneath the polish, but they're charging full current gen price for this bollocks! Unbe-fucking-lievable!

Really? I thought it looked amazing actually.

That looks rough.

They probably should have revamped the combat and the animations for this re-release. When you consider what they're charging for this, it's kinda bad.

I don't really get what people expected. It's a remaster not a remake

A game that justifies the full price RRP?

And looks better than any other remaster published so far. FF community btw to answer your question.

I mean, it's the remaster that shows the most difference between the original and the re-release, but that's because nobody else is insane enough to put a PSP game on the PS4 and charge $60 for it.

Game costs too much for what it is, no doubt about it.
They're using the FFXV demo to sell it and it's gonna work.
The problem is....even accepting the PSP nature on PS4, is it good? Is it closer to a mainline FF in quality (although with the FFXIII trilogy that doesn't mean much these days...) or it's like Dirge or Cerberus, 3rd Birthday and other crappy spin offs?

I think the issue here is the pricing. It's way too expensive for a remaster of a single psp game. Of course they are giving out FFXV demo (for first print only) but people can still complain about it.

For $60, yeah it's probably not worth it. If you want to check out FFXV, you could just wait for the free playable tech demo which comes out afterwards.

Sigh... every thread about the price tag and graphics :(

Hope it doesn't happen to God Eater 2 RB, Toukiden, Ys, and the eventual SAO Lost Song ps4 port.

Looks okay but that camera is driving me nuts...I know its worst when you are watching someone else control it but man...why is it so jerky all the time.

I'm so excited for this. Only a few more weeks :)

Hope they release those character bio videos in English. We've heard very little from the mouths of Class Zero themselves.

Aye, the camera looked pretty shaky and wonky. Hoping it's just because it's off cam footage or it's still being tuned :)

Never played on the psp, so a few questions:

1. Is card throwing guy your only selectable player?
2. Is this what the end game fighting looks like or is this pretty early on?
3. If both questions are a yes...how much will I be paying for that FFXV demo? :/

1. You choose from 14 playable characters and can swap any of them in/out at any time; you don't have to choose Ace
2. Not sure, but the party is level 30 and you start off at 8 so probably mid or late-early

I can't believe the demo is tied to this. I understand it's an up-port of a PSP game, but that's definitely not worth $60.

For people that played it in psp. Is it necessary to level up all the 14 characters to finish the game? I heard conflicting opinions after this.

The 14 characters are essentially your lives for each mission, If one dies you switch to another, so it helps to have a few decently leveled.

In addition (sort of spoiler)
There are points where you have to split your party, so you need a few decently leveled characters.

The level of quality is probably closer to 3rd Birthday, since they were both technically "major" PSP titles for SE.

If you're going off what is early on in the gameplay video (I didn't watch the whole thing), the level of play from the player is actually sort of not that good (he didn't figure out to lock on until later in the video). However, that's largely how most of the game plays, even end game fighting (that will require some more skill I guess). It seems like they made character switching a bit better than the PSP version so maybe there can be some inventive stuff for PS4, but the action gameplay of Type-0 is oriented towards 'timing' rather than comboing. It's not going to be stylish juggling, taking advantage of enemy weakness, or positional weaknesses. It's about having an attack strike during the Kill Sight window (the yellow or red marker you see overlaying the enemy at certain times).

In terms of quality, I'd say it's more Crisis Core than 3rd Birthday.

That being said, I don't even have much of a problem with the graphics despite it's obvious roots, but 60 is pushing it, even considering the XV demo that may or may not launch day and date with it.
