Project CARS (crowdsourcing) racing sim by Slightly Mad Studios (fully funded 3.75M)

Apparently the maximum for cars on grid on PS4 is 45:

It's 45 maximum (track dependent - some tracks have lower limits due to pit/grid restrictions).
Pretty respectable number and much higher than the competition. For network reasons the online won't handle as many players though.

Is anyone else getting severe stuttering? I'm running the latest team member build and my specs are i7 3820 @ 4.4Ghz, 16GB RAM and two 4GB 680's. I'm running it maxed out and my FPS will be in the mid 70's and a few minutes later it'll drop to the 40's and stutter like crazy.

What track and how many AI cars? Different parts of the track might also affect this.

I've only noticed it on Brands Hatch and Spa so far, just the one car which makes it even more weird. It doesn't matter if the weather is dry or wet etc either.
I haven't played much CARS in a long time, but some tracks used to have issues in spots because optimization was not finished, in particular around the starting/finish line because of all the buildings.

I have no idea if your particular case is related to that, however.

Yeah, that looks great. Doesn't look like the latest ps4 version vids from today is using the updated wet shaders though. Hoping it's just an old build.
The new wet setting has only been applied to three of the tracks so far. None of which is shown in the PS4 videos.

Yeah that's what I thought it was but it's still happening and isn't it two months from release?

disable detailed grass (problems with SLI) of any help?

I'll give that a go today, it was happening before SLI support was added though.

Getting down to the wire and decided to hook up my wheel again and give this a go. Just driving around Watkins Glen in practice in a Formula Rookie career felt really fantastic. The driving and the physics felt really tight. The end is almost here and things look really bright.

Just read some of the 400 page document with feedback from Nic and Ben and it´s outstanding. With all their input it really makes up for the perfect situation to build a game. Hopefully they will get it right. It´s really a shame that i´m not in the crowdsourcing because i don´t have a computer good enough to run, so i chose to wait until the game is released to play.

Any words on mods? Tracks, cars, UI, or maybe just liveries? Most gaming websites here at work are blocked, so i can´t really check.

A game like this with mods would be really godly.

Hi
Test the Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.8 AMG in Imola, the video has an edition in the introduction and recorded onboard the gopro, hope you like ;)

No Mods.

There will be liveries through Steam Workshop, though. So, don't expect to have any non curated livery that you don't download by yourself from a different source.

The reason given by Ian Bell (SMS boss) is that, from the time they worked together with the rFactor people, they made a friendly agreement where SMS wouldn't eat on rFactor business.

Fair enough. I believe they will have the resources to give/sell a lot more content through DLC and expansions.

To be fair with the mod scene, rfactor is losing a lot of support due to people moving onto Assetto Corsa. Also, with the detailed approach they've taken to each car, mods would be kind of hit and miss anyway.

There's no "one size fits all" approach on the physics and i love it. That's the greatest flaw in GT, relaying so much on the mathematical side of the physics engine.

I'm curious to see how Nascar racing will be handled in Pcars. I know it's coming later on, but i love to what they are cooking. Oval racing is great for online.

Indeed, it is. Before I tried ovals in Project CARS, I always thought they were stupid. But after trying them I saw there was something inherently fun about them. When I first proposed to my club to play an oval they all laughed at me. No more. Everybody loves them now. Too bad they are not anymore in the members' build :(

I honestly think they will do a very good job regarding ovals. Asymetric setups will help big time there.

hello, sorry my language is not English.

Or more if you do not want to put my videos here have no problem, my intention is to share my passion for cars but I do not need to bother anyone.

Thank you for sharing your videos. I do not have a problem with it. :)

Just read that the PC version requires a constant internet connection to run.

What's that all about? Will it be the same on console?

We love great pCARS videos.

Please, continue to publish, you are bot bothering anyone.

I was watching some menu videos on youtube and i saw a lot of records and mention to leaderboards, going from car record to overall record.

Anyone with the beta can explain how do the leaderboards work in the game? Is it only for special events or any time trial free run will send your times to the leaderboard?

It would be awesome if the game had real time leaderboards, that alone can provide endless hours of gameplay.

Pretty much what you're hoping for, just that Time Trial mode will have locked weather/time factors so that the weather is equal :)

Leaderboards are set in stone. Meaning there's no fuel or tyre wear. There's a fixed weather and date too.

Besides Leaderboards, there will be Events. SMS will propose a certain car and track combo, give some closing date and people will be sending their times.

Racing in the wet is soooo exciting. Should be mandatory for every sim. If it llooks as sweet as it looks in this game, then the experience is beyond words. I really appreacite that SMS ditched the ugly as fuck puddles and went for a very convincing approach to how wet conditions look. Check yourselves here:

By each new build seems they're taking hints and cues from Driveclub visuals and try imitate it

Damn, this is awesome. It creates infinite replay value because there's something to be done with each and every car. I love it. Can't wait to try.

Specs, we need specs!

How good does it run on max?

Well its running at anywhere from 70fps to 35fps with those settings ( keep in mind optiimzations still need to be done but it should be pretty close to this in release) Also rain has a toll with all the reflections/env maps on ultra, with a full grid of cars it would be around 25-50fps roughly

worth noting that im probably cpu limited (i74770k stock) as my cpu wont OC at all... :( (upping the resolution increases gpu usage but does not decrease fps by any large amount)

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I haven't really been keeping up on all of the updates, what was the reason for getting rid of the ovals currently?

Also I had a really good race in the Mclaren race car last night at Le Mans. This game is coming around fine so far, for me anyway.
