Currently watchin this on the NFL site. Being British, I don't have much clue what the ins and outs of the game are besides touchdowns and stuff so most is going over my head. I don't get the whole 4th and 9 and all that.

You get 4 plays to move the ball 10 yards. If on the 4th you haven't gotten it you typically punt the ball or kick a field goal if close enough.
