Yeah, that's what instantly jumped to my mind when you mentioned bananas. It's one of the more tolerable uses of in-game advertising I can think of.

In mockery of the product placement's effectiveness, in college a buddy of mine and I exclusively referred to bananas as Doles.

If I remember correctly, Peace Walker had a collaboration with a Japanese clothing brand where you would buy a shirt, it would come with a code, and then Snake would wear that shirt in the game. That always seemed like a cool idea to me.

I remember my mind being blown by the Coca-Cola vending machine in Parasite Eve 2.
Everything in the game was coke related, healing item, key, machine, empty can. i think it was a little to much...
Rush 2 (the sequel to San Francisco Rush) had collectable Mountain Dew cans and a Mountain Dew themed hot rod.
This wasn't very common back then so it was pretty novel to me.
Jet Moto 2 had the Mountain Dew driver, too.
