It feels like an eternity since P5 was announced and we still haven't seen anything of the game itself. Hopefully it is time.

I've kind of enjoyed not seeing anything as I'd like to go into this as blind as possible, but I won't be able to avoid watching trailers so having very little info out there has been great for me.

That said I'm hoping for some gameplay just to see the visuals and also to get a taste of the soundtrack.

Like, I understand them wanting to use it as an opportunity to announce other games but the dumb drawn out jokes and the "persona 5 reveal" which was basically just "hey we're working on persona 5" as if we didn't already know. That whole thing could have been like 15 minutes at most.

Also it was like 4am when I was watching that stream.

Not sure which site you got that pic from, but it's also obviously Persona 5 since—not only is it the only set of question marks to have 5 instead of 3 for the event content—it's the only event on the Niconico page where the question marks are red instead of black.

Catherine was Gamebryo, and they're not using that for Persona 5. They created their own internal engine for the game.

I'd rather it take cues from Persona Q than Tales. The dungeons could use some more thought and require more effort from the player to explore, but I don't think Tales is a direction I'd like to see the series follow.

I've always felt like it's the Persona mixing/creation that keeps you engaged but the combat itself is bare bones and you pretty much know everything you need to know about it within the first few dungeons and it doesn't evolve. However if it's the simplicity that people prefer I can't fault them for that.

I think the combat in P4 was great the way it was. It was fast and addictive. It's one of the very few JRPGs whose combat I never got sick of despite playing the game for 70+ hours. Hell, the only thing I think Persona really needs to improve are the dungeons. Even though P4's dungeons were improved over P3's, they were still severely lacking.
