If bosses keep your Blood after they kill you...

I have never played a souls game, i don't have a lot of time to play games, and i don't particularly like hard games, but i seriously want this game. This is going to be hard.

I know that there is some sort of Coop in this game, can i get help from fellow gaffers to defeat a boss?

I only played the first one, probably at the worst time (when PSN was hacked and offline). I remember playing for a good 45 minutes had some f*cker jumped out and 1 shot me and then I had to completely start over.

Never turned it on again lol

Art looks gorgeous but I can't get over how much shimmering and aliasing there still is. That's why I was hoping for a PC version, to fix issues in image quality developers can't or won't. Well that and proper framerate.

Luckily I'm not playing the graphics alone, gameplay matters too. And there lies my problem of completely relying on shield + replenishable flasks. This game is going to torture me until I break. I doubt I'll ever finish it but we'll see..

This is what i fear that i am going to do also. I am going to play for a long time and then die from some stupid thing, and quit the game.

Well, we're not sure exactly how the coop will work this time around. Older games made it a pain in the ass to play with friends, but there were generally enough randoms that coop help wasn't too hard to find. We'll have to see how the system works in Bloodborne.

I played the Alpha for hours and went through this area like ten times and I don't remember it looking as bad as this. There was noticeable aliasing but I don't remember it being as extreme as in this video. Let's hope the final version of the game will look better. Though I'll take the aliasing if I could get a stable framerate instead...

It seems about the same to me. When you're playing, you don't notice stuff like aliasing as much since you're focused on, you know, playing the game.

I dont think that the game is any worse, just think that time of day makes the jaggies more visible.

From the other Thread:
Winding my way through the alleys of Yharnam brought back feelings of the first time I stepped foot into Dark Souls’ Undead Burg back in 2012. This time around, the city itself exudes much more character. The streets are littered with breakable objects, many of which hold hidden items, deadly enemies, or convenient shortcuts. Yharnam is also packed with townsfolk to interact with, though each of the ones I stumbled across were holed up inside of their homes, hiding from the beasts that roam the streets. By speaking with them through windows, they helped me gain bits of insight into the events unfolding around me.

I loved the winding European nature of the city. Every time I ventured out in a new direction and got impossibly lost, I ended up stumbling upon a shortcut that led back to a familiar area. The way the world folded back into itself gave off a very “Metroidvania” vibe. The city is gorgeous, and displayed a level of density that urged me to continue exploring each dark corner I came across.

After traveling out far enough, I slowly began to make my way to a handful of non-urban environments. I was certainly not ready for the sewers beneath Yharnem. Giant trolls patrolled narrow catwalks, gaggles of menacing rats flooded out of holes in the wall, and what I thought were dead bodies in shallow water turned out to be terrifying mud-creatures that quickly outnumbered me. Even when I managed to run past all of these things, I found myself the victim of a giant armored boar that trampled me before I could get out of the well. And if all of that sounds like a lot to handle, wait until you get to the bosses.

This is the best possible news for me. Hype overload!

Yeah, it could be that I'm misremembering or just didn't notice it as much while playing. Though the aliasing is pretty bad. But I got used to the jaggies in Mario Kart 8, I will get used to this. The game will still be great. ;-)

That's my sentiment as well. Alien Isolation had horrible shader aliasing even at 4k and that didn't stop it from being amazing.

That music, those graphics, enemy designs, and and and andnadnadnandnasn....
This game...THIS GAME

Seriously though, I only started with the Souls series last summer (haven't played Demon's, just DaS1 and 2) and this game screams Dark Souls 1 to me. The music in the hub area reminds me of Firelink Shrine so much.

What do we know about PVP for this game?

Are there invasions?

I would assume PvP will work similarly to how it has in the past.

I'm out of the loop in terms of gameplay information, so what does this mean? What does Blood do?

Blood = Souls, as far as we know. Instead of leaving a bloodstain when you die, though, an enemy nearby inherits your blood, so you need to kill them to get it back.

Wow! I really like the enemy designs in this game. Souls games have always had some really cool, creepy designs.

I love absolutely everything I saw in that video. And boy is that opening spooky...in a good way. As someone who heavily relied on shields in Demon's and Dark Souls this may not go so well for me at first :).

This is certainly seeming like the first absolutely killer new-gen console exclusive.

HOLY SHIIIIT.... I will resist.

Can someone give me a brief summary of what we've learn't (gameplay wise) form these 18 mins please?

Lanterns are the new bonfires.

The Dream Refuge is the Nexus. You can warp to it from lanterns, and from it to lanterns (whether all lanterns or only some we're not sure).

You find blood vials in the environment or purchase them from vendors. There is no estus flask equivalent.

There are six stats. Two defensive stats: vitality for health, endurance for stamina. Four offensive stats: strength, skill (which is dex), bloodtinge, and arcane.

There are five damage types: physical, blood, arcane, fire, and bolt. Blood damage seems to be associated with the bloodtinge stat. Guns seem to do blood damage, though neither of the guns we've seen so far scales with bloodtinge. We haven't seen any sources of arcane or bolt damage yet, but fire damage from firebombs scales with the arcane stat so it's likely that all sources of magical/elemental damage are governed by arcane.

Thank you!

OMG grass is back.....PvP confirmed to be godlike.
Interested to know what Bloodtinge and Blood echoes are

Blood = souls.

Blood is this game's version of Souls as currency.

Instead of souls, you collect blood.

Oh. Welp. Guess mad dashes to regain souls are over.

What is the bonfire system in this game btw?
