Bloodborne gameplay : The first 18 minutes

Man, this thread is depressing. Instead of a celebration of BB footage, we now have a discussion about downgrades without any facts, without knowing how old the build is. This is why most publishers only release strictly controlled footage in strictly controlled environments.

"instead of a celebration, we have a discussion"

a travesty. why can't people show some respect?

Ideally the thread would be somewhere in the middle.

A healthy amount of discussion while celebrating and talking about the things we have seen in the trailer.

There were some pretty interesting Lore tidbits in there.

I have
A suspicion,
That you don't
Really
Realise how much you sound
(And really you do)
Like Christopher Walken.

On topic, I really wanted to resist watching the Bloodborne footage at first, but I gave in like the weak fool that I am. Although was no where near as spoilery as expected.
Though I think the "Messengers" are so adorably creepy (especially the bath messenger thing).

I haven't laughed that hard in a long time lol

I am applauding at my desk. And in solidarity, you don't want to know where I'm keeping the gold watch.

Regarding the gameplay video, I think it looks fun. This wasn't really on my radar before (it feels like the game just kind of popped up without much fanfare [read: development time]), but I love the setting and it looks a little more active than the Souls games. I'll reserve it today.

I dunno. Stomach hurts too much when thinking about this... I don't know what to do anymore...

Bloodborne OT: The true beast is Miyazaki for deceiving us

Bloodborne OT: That doesn't even look like a real knife most of the time!

Bloodborne OT: The worst thing to ever happen to gaming

Bloodborne OT: My life is ruined.

From the new article:

Like the Souls games, any unspent currency you have on your when you die is dropped in the area of your demise. Also like its three predecessors, dying before you can retrieve your loot means that it’s lost forever. However, instead of being placed on the ground at the scene of your murder, your Blood is actually transfused into a nearby enemy; you’ll know which one by the striking glow emanating from their eyes.

Nice.

Shitt, you really do have to kill everything in this game. I wonder if
between this and that "just go kill stuff" thing the guy in the dream area said this game will have some sort of anti-violence message

So you're kinda screwed at bosses then haha

"YOU HUNTED" :O :O :O

Yeah, cut the quote short, sure. It's a discussion about something that we have no data about.

To you and everyone else repeating this argument, that we can't judge it because it's an old build:

We. have. other. old. footage. to. compare. it. with.

Do you think this old footage is older than the alpha? Older than the presentation on the chalice dungeon from a while ago?

Just because it's not final does not mean comparisons to other footage of the same game are impossible or meaningless.

I understand that there's a strong motivation to just cut off all discussion of downgrades. I agree it's boring and possibly premature. But there is indeed sufficient data to speculate. So let people talk about it and just ignore it if you can't deal.

Watching this video convinced me that it's too much like DS and not the type of a game for me. It sucks, because it really looks like Nightmare Creatures next-gen. :)

So it's not necessarily the one that killed you? Interesting.

Seems like it unless that was just poorly worded. If it's true, I have a feeling if you die to a boss it'll put your blood in the enemy closest to the fog wall. Having the boss absorb your blood seems a bit too punishing, though I'd be all for it!

I hope not. Let it be too punishing. I want to suffer and keep torturing myself thinking I SHOULD HAVE SPENT THOSE POINTS. :D

There's nothing wrong with talking about potential downgrades. But at the very least, the comparison pictures shouldn't involve one fairly clean direct feed screenshot and the other a horribly compressed youtube capture. That is made entirely worse by the fact that the setting is at different TOD.

I'm all for pointing out downgrades. But randomly throwing it out and hoping it sticks is not the way.

That was true before :P

It's just that it usually had a body inside the barrel. In Dark II, there are items just inside furniture too.

Not often enough that it warranted breaking everything.

The most memorable hidden "item", in my opinion, is that crystal lizard inside the barrel before Taurus demon.

The physics alone warranted breaking everything. I loved breaking things in DeS and DaS1. And then Dark Souls 2 came and messed that up as well. :-/

Bloodborne |OT| Type AA Negative

Seriously though just watched the entire thing again at 1080, was much more aware of the aliasing, even in the first scene with the werewolf when he starts to fight. Those metal frame things, and then throughout the video on the floor detail.

It's a fact that the environment is lovingly and insanely detailed, but so was TLoU and at times their environments looked like watercolour - any chance they would share their stuff with another 1st party title? I know TLoU did have some issues with aliasing, but generally I thought the environments were superb and noticeable aliasing was on fancy architecture, power lines etc.
