Nintendo Financial Results Meeting rescheduled for February 17th.

Hopefully a little more talk about:

By now in early 2015, Nintendo should know the direction they're headed in with the next handheld (likely 2016 ?) and the next console (likely 2017 ?).

I don't know, the meeting being delayed by 3 weeks seems pretty serious.

Why 3 more weeks?

a) Iwata obviously has to clear the flu that hit him before the scheduled investor meeting, so a week+ to recover fully isn't too unusual, particularly if he's still in recovery from his earlier illness.

b) Even assuming Iwata is ready to go now, not everyone else will be. They will have organised their own calendars around the original date and the cancellation will have thrown things. A couple of weeks notice to reorganise and give everyone chance to make new arrangements is sensible.

Better be sure than do it one week after and Iwata sneezing and being full of meds between investors questions. Would be bad if he was less and less in front of investors too.

But yeah, there'll obviously be questions about the future of the WiiU and its successor, the New3DS and its future replacement, obvious "when are you going mobile", account related stuff and probably more QOL info as well.

Iwata needs to be fully clear, not just working clear if he's presenting. You don't want to be coughing or sniffling while giving a presentation, it looks really bad.

Isn't this just showing that they will allow a smart device to connect to an account that ties both systems together?

Not really, but that isn't the point. The point is, it's a slide that shows they don't yet officially intend to create and single hybrid gaming device. Consoles and handhelds will continue to be different lines, even though Nintendo is going to use a common Nintendo OS for developing/programming games.

Nah. Investors also have their own schedules. It probably took this long because it's the next best time for everyone involved to push through with the meeting.

It's 3 weeks notice to give the shareholders time to book it into their schedules. (I.e. they don't sit at home on Gaf all day ;))

Yes, they basically scheduled it for after 98%+ of other companies would have already had their meeting so as not to have a scheduling conflict.

Initial delay is probably from Iwata being sick as claimed... As for it taking 3 weeks to reschedule... that's not unheard of. Iwata is a busy man, he probably had a lot planned on his plate for after the meeting. That man likely has his life scheduled for the next year, trying to pencil in a new financial meeting probably took a bit of fandangling.

Their next presentation should include a slide with "playable" and "non-playable".
"The new Nintendo system! It does nothing!"

Non-sensing. As in, nonsense.

Then it goes on to become the best selling system system ever si ce everyone wants something that does "nothing!"

Like spilling out details for their next systems and games.

But ...they always do...

What is "Non-wearable"? Like, a floating game console?

Someone hasn't been keeping up with QOL:

^non-wearable. That term exists to make clear they're not talking about fitbit/smartwatches. Which, of course, was what everyone assumed they were doing anyway because reading is hard and using your brain while reading is even harder.

edit: half-beaten^^

Yes. Probably in 8.5 hours. No live tweets.
From Gibson anyway. Hopefully someone else will provide live tweets. Shame Nintendo doesn't offer a webcast, that would be much easier (for everyone).

I hope so!

Is there a chance of namedropping the next Pokemon games there? Or confirming new pokemon games for this year/next year?
