Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

I made the edit because I watch the Latin Dub, so I remembered Bender actually says Mujerzuelas, not prostitutas.

Accuracy dude.

Ah cool I gotcha not a spanish speaker but I know enough to figure a couple things out if I read stuff enough. Actually just starting to reeducate my self in a bit of spanish and japanese. Its been awhile.

Again, I can't speak for everyone, but the Canadian retailer situation is a mess right now, and people were getting sour grapes about the discussion being all amiibo in the other Canada thread, so that one was spun up.

Basically, there's been a ton of ambiguity regarding Wave 3 (and, god forbid, Wave 4/Super Mario Series) in Canada, so the Deals and Discussion thread was full of (fast and furious) discussion about retailer availability/spotting.

- Toys R Us still has a street date of Feb 6 for Lucario, but apparently the rest of the wave (including formerly Target-exclusive Rosalina) has been randomly showing up at Toys R Us stores inconsistently across the country (no consistency within the same province or anything)... and some stores /have/ sold Lucario. No Super Mario Series yet.
- Wal-Mart has Wave 3 up for pre-order on their website, but you can't complete any orders. It just went up recently. No information on Rosalina there. No Super Mario Series yet. Stores also seem to be completely hit or miss when it comes to shipments of stuff (the WM nearest to me hasn't seen /any/ Wave 2 in store and basically still has the small leftovers from Wave 1 as their only content, but the other one in my city seems to have gotten a 'normal' shipment).
- BB/FS basically pissed off Canada by saying they were going to open pre-orders for Rosalina last night at 12 AM PST (3 AM EST/4 AM Atlantic), and then that ended up being delayed and just randomly showed up and sold out in like a ten minute window. No info on Meta Knight, except some stores are saying you can now get him in store when iirc the previous hint was "online, pre-orders only", so now people will be watching that like a hawk.
- ebgames put up Mario Series out of the blue and Toad sold out in like 15m. Also no information on Rosalina there. I have no sweet clue what the Shulk situation is
- Amazon.ca had Rosalina go up randomly in the middle of the night for like 10m or something, and the Super Mario Series also went up randomly, and there's no real clarity on when Wave 4 or the rest of SMS will go up.

So basically retailers aren't saying shit and the thread is basically a torrent of information (good or bad) that would probably confuse the shit out of other regions that at least SEEM to have coherent release schedules/patterns.

Self quote for new page. afaik everyone is still checking here, that thread is mostly centered around the retailer clusterfuck and may die once things get stable for all I know.

Pretty damn stupid. I'm not going to be buying in NA retail anymore. I will only be importing. So should I create a JP/EU Amiibo thread only?

I just don't get why Canada alone deserves its own section. But then again, GAF does allow threads like this (I mean based on region), so it's within the sites guidelines. Not complaining in that sense.

Just don't get why it's a thing, and why it needs to happen.

It helps sort things out for us. I get kind of turned around when I see people discussing deals that don't apply here.

Canada amiibo thread is actually split off from the Canadian Deals and Discussion thread where people that were looking for a dead thread with no deals because of the poor value of the CAD angrily shook their fists at amiibo hunters and yelled at them to get off their lawn.

I won't be using that thread.

This is my Amiibo home. I am not happy they did that.

It's a winless fight. Just let them have their thread. We went through this last week and it's pointless to argue it. They didn't feel heard here, so they went and made their own thread. A majority of us in FigureGAF scratched our heads when some people made an Action Figure GAF thread, but whatever. They're happier, we're doing just fine, and all is well.

Of course, it's still fun to make jokes about it.

To be fair, I really didn't understand the difference between figuregaf and action figure gaf.

So why isn't this an issue with EU/JP?

Why don't we have a thread for each region? I guess I just don't understand why it was confusing for Canadians and U.S., but not U.S. and EU/JP.

I don't really want to get into the politics as someone in action figure gaf described them to me, but it seems like people had their reasons for doing so.

I don't suspect that the other thread will be nearly as popular. If you're not Canadian you probably won't ever even go in there since this thread is more generally for everybody. I don't think that thread will have an adverse effect on the community. I say let them have the thread. Though I think if any other place needs one it's Europe.

I just hope things don't spiral out of control and before long this thread is pushed into community. Let's tread lightly amiibros and amiigals.

It's a bit of a shame. I know it may seem like we're focused on US sometimes but if you think about it a little, we change the regions based on what's happening now. We had our Rosailna launch 2 days ago. Last night when pre-orders were ready to go up for CA, we pretty much switched into that mode and were helping you guys be on the lookout. I just don't get why they didn't come here (even after the Future Shop link was posted here first and they knew of it later on) and continued to bother the CA deals thread. Just this morning we practically switched to UK mode when Amazon UK released their batch.

As I Canadian myself I don't see the need to have our own community. There's already a nice Facebook group for that as well as a Subreddit for Canada.

I don't want the GAF community to be divided. v_v

So why isn't this an issue with EU/JP?

It's because there isn't an EU or JP-GAF community to be spun off from. It has nothing to do with this thread in particular and more to deal with the politics of the Canada thread.

Defintely a clisterfuck all around Im not sure whose situation is worse tbh North America is in a bad situation all around. Just with different things being issues between US and Canada we are definitely the worst it seems though bro. Hopefully we all see improvements.

Moe, moe everywhere.

Canada and US are having the biggest issues right now (NOA) and more crossover with retail stores. As Europe/JP have different stores, but Canada/US overlaps with the same store names, but different release schedules/exclusives etc.

In the window of time where this thread has asked "why there's a separate Canada" thread (about a page worth of posts, if that?), that thread has gotten 134 posts mostly centered around the retailer mess. I mean, I won't say it /couldn't/ fit here, but it was happening in the CD&D thread and people were mad so it ended up in another thread.

They probably should have just titled it "The Great Canadian Retailer amiibo Debacle |OT|" to narrow the scope or w/e given the contents so far. ;)

To be fair, I really didn't understand the difference between figuregaf and action figure gaf.

I think Action Figure GAF is focused on western properties and western producers. I mean, they say people can post any articulated figure, but it's clearly not the intention. FigureGAF definitely has a Japanese slant. No one is denying that. But it has a Japanese slant because that's what the vocal people there like. The people that did post there and talked about Hot Toys and other western goods were greeted with open arms and we always ogled at their stuff. But I guess they felt like they were overpowered by "half naked little girls" and "moe gifs" to feel comfortable.

Much like the Canadian thread, what about people that aren't from Canada but can order from a Canadian site? Or what about someone in Canada who can order from an international site? Where do they post?

But at the end of the day, 95% of the people that post here and going to continue to post here, so it doesn't really matter. Let those who want their specific topic to be a thread be a thread. If it's not popular enough to sustain itself, it'll die. If it has enough traffic, it'll continue on. But no matter what, this thread will be the number one source of information for Amiibos.

Is the wii fit trainer getting a reprint or something? There are a few around the targets close to me according to brickseek.com. I thought that was one of the harder ones to get.

Lol. They should join us then. Our rage at Target for the Rosalina debacle has started to lose steam with the page going down last night. We could have used their stories to continue to momentum.

I still got my amazon.it order for Rosalina still.
It says forecast delivery between Feb 2- Feb 9.
It's already the 3. It usually take 17 days to arrive at my home.
If Amazon misses its forecast delivery do I get some type of compensation? Like a discount on my order for such a bad service? Amazon usually never has bad services, so this will be a first in its disappointment.

That's a shame. I was hoping to be able to trade with people in Canada since we get the same packaging.
It's the internet. I mean, are you banned from clicking on links with Canada in them? lol
Besides, I'm sure most people will come here as well.

And again, it has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS THREAD and wanting to splinter the community or whatever.

What amiibo are you looking forward to most from Wave 4? Charizard looks pretty great. I love DK and Bowser because of how big and hefty they are, hope Charizard is the same.

The only one I don't want is Wario, I hate his WarioWare outfit.

Don't really get what the big deal is, the new Canadian thread is just a divorce of the Canadian thread and Canadian Amiibo talk.

Now we are just children that are rejected from this Amiibo OT and Canadian Deals OT apparently lol.

I don't disagree, but I think it's just to coordinate retailer inventory/news because it's such a mess.

Picture the Target debacle in the US, and then stretch that to every retailer in Canada for exclusives AND non-exclusives -- and then factor in that Rosalina was also a Target exclusive in Canada up until like a week ago when they announced they were shuttering Target and decided to split that already-quite-small allocation across all the other retailers who decided to put it up at completely arbitrary and random times.

I guess what he's trying to say is it's already hard enough following this thread (we're almost done with OT3) so it'll be even harder keeping up with 2 threads. I guess he could always put up a post saying you wish to trade in both topics but it is definitely a bit harder to follow multiple threads.

What? We're welcoming you home with open arms. Don't even say that =(

It's not a big deal. It's just this was never region centric. I guess I always viewed this as an overall community thread. And I guess it's now being split off by region. I mean, it makes sense. In terms of being practical.

But it didn't make sense, in that the thread has always covered all regions, and up to this point has never been a big issue. So it was weird to me to see Canada have its own thread, and yet U.S./JP/EU are all one thread with no issue between the two having differences.

Brickseek seems weird. I called two Targets (an hour and two and a half hours away) who had 3 and 7 Rosalinas showing in stock, both said they had none. Glad I called before driving. Still it's really annoying.

The only one I don't want is Wario, I hate his WarioWare outfit.
I actually can't wait for Wario, given my affinity for the WarioWare series it feels good to finally have a Wario toy in his Ware outfit. I would shell out all the money for a full WarioWare amiibo line but that'll never happen :(

Besides him I'm really looking forward to Ness (massive Earthbound fan, so glad to finally have a Ness figure) and Pac Man (he just looks great)

Well I'll miss all the cool Canada bros but hopefully no one else tries to leave. I know this thread moves fast but it's full of awesome people who are dedicated and genuinely care about others. I haven't really found a thread I wanted to constantly be in before this one.

Hmm, I guess Lucina & Robin due to Codename Steam. Otherwise, probably Pac-Man because I want all 3rd party characters, then Wario because Nintendo will probably think of ways that I can use him.

Ness, I kind of want, but Charizard, even if he was my fav. as a kid when I was into Pokemon, I don't want too badly. Feel like he'll be common, though I might get him eventually if they do some kind of amiibo deal.

I wasn't planning to leave the thread, was just an analogy + I'm hungry.

Understandable with Wario. I like Warioware but just prefer his original outfit. Happy it'll be there for fans like you though.

I think anyone in Canada looking to trade will probably post in both places, so that won't be a problem.

And the reality is that the Canada thread will probably slow down soon. Again, it exists because people in the Canada Gaming thread didn't want Amiibo retailer talk in that thread. Most of the people in the Canada Amiibo thread didn't even want a separate thread in the first place.

Because the Canadian 'region' thread is not about isolating or having self-contained discussion about amiibo, it's about congregating information about the retailer clusterfuck into one thread (as it mostly was in the CD&D thread where people were getting annoyed with it).

You're more than welcome to sit in the thread and understand the chaos that is retailer availability here... but it's not Amiibo Discussion in the sense that this thread is Amiibo Discussion.
