Persona 5 New Trailer

Hmm. I've been meaning to get around to playing those. What's cool about her, and why would this new character be her kid?

No real reason. They just look similar, so I was pretty much joking. Lisa was just a hell of a lot of fun, was a deceptively deep character, and the best LI option in the game. She was basically the daughter of an american Japanophile, didn't speak English well, and had a mad on for Kung-fu films. Rise was originally modeled off of her, though they changed that character a lot so outside of them both being idols (sorta) not much stuck around.

How that is not the best menu animation in history of gaming I don't know

I gotta hand it to Atlus though. The initial teaser from 2013 piqued my interest, and the trailer from last year made me think it'd be more of the same of P3 and P4, but this trailer, this trailercompletely blew away and surpassed all my expectations.

Like, this is not what I expected at all. Those menus, those Catherine style graphics, the whole gang of thieves thing (and that cat burglar), that cover to cover movement, and the MC, I have an entirely different outlook on him now that I've seen him in action.

I cannot wait for this game. It's so STYLISH.

Calling the main character The Phantom for convenience's sake.

Shots of what's seemingly a masquerade ballroom. Two figures in the crowd are clearly running, possibly aware of The Phantom. The scene transitions to close-ups of security.

Nah, thats not a masqurade ballroom, he is clearly stealing a casino.

I understand where you come from... although, the Xbox is pretty much dead as a brand for most devs. Unless Microsoft publishes the games of studios not from Square, Capcom or Bandai, I don't expect much support from the Japanese devs for the Xbox One.

Very true, i'll end up getting this when i get my ps4 later this holiday season.
I miss the mistwalker days for the xbox. *sniff*

So, Lupin III feat. Persona? Getting huge Lupin-vibes from that trailer.

Day One for PS4!

... in europe/germany ....

Atlus: "What is this you-rope, that you are talking about? A large part of the world with many gamers? Never heard about that"

Catherine is the prequel of course.

Doesn't look like it... if it is Vincent, he seems way younger this time around. Maybe he's one of the victims of the demon world. Would explain why a succubus tried to charm him and keep him in the underworld? Which makes me thinks... what if... Vincent was to be part of the team in Persona 5. What weapon would he use? Could he have a Fool persona?

So this is a PS3 exclusive right?

No. It's PS3 and PS4.

Pretty much what duckroll posted before.

From the Persona 5 development team.

Good evening to you all. Persona Team’s Hashino here.

Today, we presented a video for the long-awaited game. So, how did you like it?

As I write this now, I’ve yet to find out how you guys reacted to it, so I’m honestly feeling a little nervous thinking about comments like “the next Persona is about a phantom thief lol” or “is that Lupin!?” and such, but I’m hoping there are some warm comments out there. Even if there was a just little part you liked from it, it would make me really happy.

For this game, we’re going with a challenge that fuses together a juvenile school setting that is as large as life, together with a picaresque romance. In the previous game, we wrote a story that involved having a justice group chase down a bad guy that could easily be feared by just about anyone.

This time, it’s about a group of high school students that are being “chased” by unexpected occurrences due to the justice they believe in. We’re writing [the story] to convey a thrilling everyday life in the shoes of these characters, that are as large as life, in this juvenile school setting.

We, the team, are working together as we advance through development so you can enjoy something with evolved graphics and sound, along with party members that are just a tad bit more ill-behaved than what you’ve been used to up until now.

We all have so many feelings that are going into this title. While this is a product by Atlus that is known for its individualistic side, some say that a strong personality can break away from common rules and models… so it can be seen as a nuisance as well.

However, the way we see a person’s character, it can spread to others for good or for bad, and it can even change the way another would think or behave… and that’s the potential power we see in it.

We may feel some sort of suffocation in this world today, but as long as the world is comprised of relationships among humans, it is a person’s character, or a group’s character, that will provide the ‘power’ to destroy that ‘feeling of entrapment’.

I’m hoping that this title will shape up into something that can embody such feelings, and something that will remain in your hearts.

In order to meet all of your expectations, even just a little, the development team staff are working hard, so I’d like to say thank you for your continued support! (I will take a peek at comments from you all on Twitter, blogs, and such!)

Honestly I haven't felt this sort of unreserved excitement towards a game since I was a kid in the 90's! Incredible trailer. Substance, style, information, original score. That's how you make a trailer.

Oh come on, getting to know the demons was hilarious

Yes, yes, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

So much style. Its like style overload.
I went on a Shin Megami marathon a few years back when I discovered them. P3, DDS, and Nocturne back to back to back.
I should finally get around to playing P4.

Thank you Nachos very much for the analysis. Some additions..

she takes a currency other than yen in exchange for drugs/medication.

円 is the Japanese letter for yen.

Also Luxuria and other words in that cat screen are latin, and refer to the seven deadly sins. Luxuria is "Lust".

Holy crap the menus looks amazing! I didn't realize they were menus until I started looking at the words instead of the character models. This looks very sleek. I looked forward to playing this.

Just noticed that weather still seems to be a thing in this game now.
I loved the weather in P4, especially the overcast and rainy days. It was so soothing and made the world more immersive.

I just want to be able to walk around that beautiful P5 city in the rain!

I just want to apologize to everyone whose dogs started inexplicably barking and whining in pain this morning. I had just watched the trailer, and my resulting squee went both ultrasonic and worldwide.

And now if you'll excuse me, I'm going on a media blackout until the game drops.
