How in the world did you get that impression? XD

And what didn't you like about P4?

The question wasn't directed at me but I say that all those anime cliches for the P4 cast are quite awful. I was kinda disappointed with the cast because of that. Also, the evolution of the story sucks.

My guess for release date is December 2015 for JP. Feburary 2016 for US. I really want to eat crow on this.

EU? What's that?

EU is the continent that's going to import rather than wait a year for it to come out, so don't region-lock that shit like you did with Arena Atlus or I will fucking demolish you.

I'm late to posting since I've been rewatching the trailer so many times.

My experience with Persona mainly consists of playing the first 15-20 hours of 3, but I think one of the reasons it didn't quite click with me is that I already knew so much about 3 and 4 secondhand ages before I started playing 3.

At this point, I think starting with a fresh game I don't know anything about would be a better entry way into the series for me. It also helps that I love everything I've seen about the game so far.

What did you not like about P4?

I mean P3 was a lot more mature character wise but are there specifics?

How "cheerful" it was. Too much to my taste. I liked the dark mood of P3 more.

And the dungeons/social ratio (too much social) but we haven't seen anything of that yet.

The way they dance and stuff. And the music. It really gives me P4 vibes. For the second question read the above.

I really wish Meguro would go back to darker music. Digital Devil Saga was godly and P3 had some good ones too. Not a fan of P4 OST :(

The "We're thieves" and Velvet Room is a prison aspect seems slightly less light hearted than P4 to me.

It's on PS3, actually. And I would totally see this getting remade in the future with the way atlus does things.

Quelle horreur

EDIT: Platform(s) PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4
So, yeah. Buying a PS4

Wait, i see what you meant.
I didn't own a previous gen console.

Since we are talking about the twins, did anyone else notice the eyepatches?

So the persona for the main characters are going to represent the Seven Deadly Sins? When the cat transforms it says Luxuria Persona and Luxuria is Latin for lust. This should be interesting....

7?

I am expecting 5, since the initial reveal had 5 chairs, and 4 active party members were shown in the trailer. I am guessing the 5th is probably a support character ala Fuuka and Rise.

Looking back at 1:34 of the video shows the cat having 5 of the deadly sins listed on him and one demon:

Left to right(maybe I should be going right to left?):
Gula: Gluttony
Luxuria: Lust
Invidia: Envy
Ira: Wrath
Superbia: Pride

The demon:
Irritum: Apparently a demon of nothingness?

I can see this being an issue. Persona 4 is usually not my type of game but by the time Teddy came around I was hooked. I just accepted it as quirky and went with it.

The odd thing is I actually loved Teddie lol It was some of the other characters that really did nothing for me (Yosuke, Chie and Yukiko, which is a problem since they are your 'main' friends in the game).

I hope you're right.

This...was absolutely beautiful. Loved the transition from cover play to platform environments.

Gah, this is giving me P2 vibes strangely enough, which is great! The girl even reminds me of Lisa!

I thought about that too, but chances are the 5 chairs was just because it's Persona 5. If it does refer to party members, it may not represent everyone there (like the cat wouldn't need a chair at school).

7 characters is the number of playable characters in Persona 4, the number of deadly sins, and it just generally works well with a 4 person party since you have your main character and 2 groups of 3 (so you could play the game twice and main all of the main characters).

Yeah Chie was a hard pill to swallow... by the end of my first play-through though her and Teddy were my favorites. I just accepted the zaniness and went with it.

Perhaps Persona 6 will be dark like 3. You and I could always hope.

And Igor is the Warden! :D

Interesting that the Velvet Room is now a prision. Igor is must proabbly still is ally/PersonaFuser but seems that now the space between the "self" and the "collective" is now a opressive state than one of transistion.

Maybe thats whyb they are fighting demons?

Just realized that it doesn't look like your party members follow you around in dungeons anymore. I actually liked that feature in the P3.

Don't be so quick to assume that, there's only one portrait in the bottom right so he's probably in that particular dungeon alone.

That and we have no idea if these are ALL the characters.

I doubt Atlus showed everything in one trailer. :P

So who's up to speculate about the mc's persona? I wanted to guess Prometheus, but I wasn't sure what to make of the heart imagery (printed on the sleeve). Usually the description of his sentence involves being bound to a rock and having his liver pecked out every day (regenerates every night). Apparently there are accounts of it being his heart instead, but I've only ever read it was his liver. It would be harder to draw a recognizable liver on a sleeve, I guess, and it does appear to be like a tally...

The tie with Pandora works with the allusion to sins in the game (she was made and sent to humanity as punishment for the having the fire they weren't supposed to have and ended up releasing all the bad stuff), and the emancipation thing perhaps might work with the idea of his punishment and the chain/prison imagery. As for the thieving and vigilante stuff, his claim to fame is stealing fire in defiance of the gods/natural order.

Other ideas?

If you freeze it just as it zooms out you can clearly make out 5 more of the sins written in Latin as well so I think this is definite. I can't see what the three on the top level are though. That would make two sins too many :/

If it is Seven Deadly Sins related, it could be Satan or Lucifer depending on what sin you think the MC represents.

It's not just reflective tape. The brightest part of the column shows through his head and clothing:

You can also see the person through him in that second picture.

No guys. He's not transparent. You can't see through him. You're confusing those bright vertical lens reflection effects on the poles behind him (combined with heavy mp4 compression artifacts). These lens reflections line up with the poles vertically. Notice in the image below that only the bright lights on the right shine on the "camera" causing this effect. There is no transparency on the MC or you would also see the person directly behind him as well as the pillar on the left but you don't.

the two guys doging the train in the animated cutscene are also transparent

No, they're not.

Again, you guys are confusing lens flares for transparency.

Damn, you guys must have way better vision than I do. Even in those two frames, if you hadn't circled what you were talking about, I probably wouldn't have noticed.

I thought you guys were talking about the lights reflecting off the silver part of his bag/shoulder strap - which I still think it might be doing.

Again, the bright lights are casting flares on the game's virtual camera. These flares are on top of him and because the flares line up with the vertical lighting on the pillars behind him, you're mistaking that for transparency.

Loki would work as well.

There is also Autolycus.

Autolycus, in Greek mythology, the maternal grandfather, through his daughter Anticleia, of the hero Odysseus. In Homer’s Odyssey the god Hermes rewards Autolycus’s faithful sacrifices to him by granting Autolycus skill in trickery, but later ancient authors made him the god’s son. He was believed to live at the foot of Mount Parnassus and was famous as a thief and swindler. Late sources say that on one occasion Sisyphus (the son of Aeolus), during a visit to Autolycus, recognized his stolen cattle. It is said that on that occasion Sisyphus seduced Autolycus’s daughter Anticleia and that hence Odysseus was really the son of Sisyphus, not of Laertes, whom Anticleia afterward married.

The object of the story probably was to establish the close connection between Hermes, the god of theft and cunning, and the three persons—Sisyphus, Odysseus, and Autolycus—who were the incarnate representations of that practice and quality.

1 of those 5 isn't a deadly sin, but a demon representing nothingness, Irritum.
