What if the cat grows in size and you just ride it to safety?

So one of the cooler character design aspects is that each character is dressed in one of various tropes for thief characters in media.

The protagonist is a suave, elegant, gentleman thief.

Anzu is the bombshell Catwoman type.

Ryuji is a thuggish biker punk.

Morgana is a cartoony ninja.

I wonder what other designs the rest of the party will have, if we have more.

That's a good catch.

There was something similar going on in P4, with each of the party member's personas representing different genres/tropes of television/movies (Detective, Bancho, Military, Martial Arts, Ninja...)

The Persona 5 PV#01 trailer has reached over 2 million views:

For comparison:

Persona 4 Arena: E3 Trailer - 375,118 views
Atlus USA Trailer: Persona 4 - 365,872 views
Persona 4 Golden: E3 Trailer - 356,131 views

For comparison:

Persona 4 Arena: E3 Trailer - 375,118 views
Atlus USA Trailer: Persona 4 - 365,872 views
Persona 4 Golden: E3 Trailer - 356,131 views

Weird that arena got the most views of any of those. But each of those games outsold their views by a decent margin.

Well, compounded with the fact that comparing the views to sales is a dead end, those are Atlus USA channel views, which will usually have much less than the Atlus Japan channel views.

Example:

Persona 5 reveal trailer (JP Youtube): 1.3 million views
Persona 5 reveal trailer (NA Youtube): 239k views

I'm looking up other noteworthy, recent games and their numbers of views to see which P5 has surpassed. Seems that the most viewed Bloodborne video (1.6 million) was passed.

most people rarely care to watch the same trailer again once it finally hits Atlus USAs channel

Yeah, that's the predominant reason.

I'm so glad that they seem to make the effort to make the dungeons feel bigger.
I kinda fed up with the narrow & cramped dungeon design from the previous games. I hope there will be outdoor dungeons, as well.

Looking forward to see how fleshed out they are. From the brief snips in the trailer they look way more active than anything in P3 and P4, can't wait to see more.

It surpassed Xenoblade Chronicles X's trailer (1,143,686, initially dubbed as X). But if you don't count teasers, there's the E3 2014 trailer (612,057).

Speaking of Igor, I'm really happy he's back. Apart from sparing us the thought of Marie being a recurring character in Persona from now on, Igor is such an odd, fascinating creature and he compounds the weirdness of Persona in a magnificent way, where your greatest ally is this weird, hunched over monster with a huge nose, bloodshot eyes, and a wide, permanent grin.

Is Igor in P1 and 2?

I know that this has been answered but he is and I love it. Pretty much makes him the link between all the Persona games. ...Well that and the personas of course.

He also didn't have a voice actor in P1 and 2 (and a different one in the drama cds released during that era) so I would've been really pissed if they had axed him because of his Japanese VA passing away. So glad he's still in.

I do hope they go back to Dan Woren over here though. His Ultimax voice was painful. :l

I wonder how much they'll fit into the tropes of the caper crew. They've already mentioned taking inspiration in some way or another from Lupin III which is a quintessential thieves series.

I'd also say Morgana is more inspired by Puss in Boots, the swashbuckling pirate type what with her giant cutlass and all that than a ninja. I bet we'll get a more traditional ninja somewhere down the line, though that fox/tanooki character could very well fit that bill as well. Still need a techie as well for information and support, which is a staple itself in the series with Fuuka and Rise.

Ryuji looks to be the muscle, dudes using a lead pipe and shotgun as weapons. Could also see him as the conman as well, he seems like he could be charismatic but maybe not if he follows in the footsteps of Junpei and Yosuke. Anne/Anzu definitely fits the cat burglar role. Morgana I'm not sure of, the distraction maybe being a cute cat or the greaseman since she's a tiny cat and can get into places no one else can.

Because she would steal are hearts or something?
No, I mean that, as evinced by Tharja, there is a significant community of guys that go for creepy/sadistic/derranged women. If you have ever been in a FE thread, you know what I mean.

Also, a character that steals from the party at various points in the game would be funny.

Igor being shown was definitely one of the coolest parts of the trailer when it was first revealed. There had been so much speculation regarding his status in P5 because of everything that happened with his character after his VA passed away.

His VA passed? Japanese or English? Bummer either way...

Yeah. They could not have made it any more clear with the way they showed him. They definitely knew.

His Japanese VA passed away. It's sort of a thing where characters will be retired if their actors pass away (as an example, the VA for Colonel Campbell passed away, so Kojima's decided to retire the character). Since Persona 4, Igor's been playing a bit part in all the spin offs and all his vocal tracks were recycled, even in English.

That sucks, I've read that in Japan VAs are treated like celebrities.

Jeez, so I just looked this up and it was the Japanese VA for Ocelot that died, not Liquid, so it makes even less sense for Ocelot to be voiced by Zimmerman than Clarke in MGS4. Except, nano machines.

Damn, I hate that game even more now.

Revolver Ocelot's Japanese VA (for MGS and MGS2) passed away in 2006, but the character is still around, though in different versions (Young Ocelot in MGS3 and Big Boss era games). And Liquid Ocelot in MGS 4 was voiced by Liquid's Japanese VA.

Yes, but it does have gameplay advantages
I'm gonna do a lot of Me2 comparisons because it is essentially the only RPG I've ever played extensively. Doing all the extra shit in Me2 has its gameplay advantages as well. You can level up quicker, and therefore have more skill points for yourself and your squad.

And you up your chances of having your whole crew survive.
Yes, but without new game + advantages its difficult enough to require a guide.
What do you mean? that the game is just not as fun with new game+ if you do all the social links in your first playthrough?
Story wise, the game doesn't deviate because you didn't do the social links
so the story remains unaffected, you only gain more power during gameplay by doing the social links
No, he is saying that there is one that levels up as part of the main story. No extra effort required.
I see. so you get one social link by just playing the game. probably the game's way of introducing you to it.
Anti-heroes can have connections in the same way.
huh? i'm just asking whether the protagonist is an an anti-hero or hero.

so if the protagonist an anti-hero instead of a hero?

I'm not sure how this relates to my answer about social links, but the MC's personality varies in each Persona game. In P3 and P4 I think you could definitely say he's a hero, but in P5 I think they're going for a bit of the Robin Hood, gallant thief thing so he might be a bit more anti-hero.

On another note, I'm surprised to see such love for Igor! I never thought he was very interesting, perhaps because we know so little about him.

The protagonist is a silent hero type.

The one social link that goes up on its own doesn't happen until ~25% through the game, so it isn't an intro. It is for plot reasons. Actually, three links go up on their own from plot stuff. 3.5 if you do everything right.

I was still really surprised to see Igor again, I totally expected Margaret show up in his place in Persona 5.
Plot twist: the twins are Margaret and Elizabeth as kids.

I wonder if igor will be a secret new game plus boss. I can't see the twins being as powerful as the last two sisters, but Igor might prove to be extremely powerful.

I've played ME2. I'm just saying that developing higher social links is linked to unlocking some gameplay advantages.

I mean that its not designed to get all the social links in one playthrough while playing it blind. There are advantages in New Game + that give you more time to get the s. links done in the same timeframe.

That is what it boils down to, yes. There is a few endgame scenes that slightly vary based on the social links, but its nothing more than who shows up to give a quick comment at the time.

No, they introduce it to you in a different way. The character arc of the social link is directly progressed by the main events of the story, so they're connected.

My mistake. No protagonists from P1 to P4 would be considered anti-heroes.

Igor actually had another VA (Takeshi Aono, who ALSO passed away) in the P2 Drama CDs, so I didn't think they'd retire the character with Tanonaka's passing.
