What will be February's biggest flop?

People really think The Order will flop? My friends don't shut up about it and I expected it to do well simply because it's a big PS4 exclusive.

The Order has the potential to "flop" critically. Nowadays when a AAA game gets below an 8 it's somehow a flop. I can see the game scoring in the 7s and fanboys will be all over it calling it a flop.

i dont think its very controversial to expect a shit storm about review scores surrounding The Order. usually when there is a graphically hyped exclusive game with... lets say tepid previews, i expect hammering on the review scores. I'd imagine mid to low 7's as an average at best

Critically - The Order. I feel like the stage is set for another crisis of DriveClub proportions.

Every time I see The Order it looks decidedly mediocre from a mechanics perspective. I don't know why it's getting so much hype on GAF, potentially due to the low amount of exclusive software, but I predict people are going to be in for a rude surprise.

It's like people WANT games to flop. I would probably say there are some folks who are praying/waiting that The Order nosedives and I have no idea why.

Actually - I am really sure why........cue "Battle Hymn".

I think Dragonball is gonna sell like ass.

Is it? I've gotten quite the opposite impression personally. I can't even remember the last time I saw a major AAA exclusive get such a rough ride from gaming forums and the media in fact. I've been genuinely surprised by it tbh.

I also hate that it's episodic and you have to pay for certain episodes. No thanks, i'll wait for the 'complete' edition to go on sale, if it's even any good.

Either way, i'm going with your vote. Certainly won't be Zelda, and MH4U is getting tons of praise, so certainly not failing critically.

You have to pay for each episode, they release weekly (as in for sure, since the game is done) and the whole season can be had for $25.

The boxed version is $40 at retail and releases a month later. If you can do math, there's nothing to hate.

It's RE though, so I expect it to sell. Order will probably have a middling debut both critically and sales-wise, so I'll go with that.

Kirby. because when a company pushes ads to the gamepad with the system in stand by sure makes me not even want to look at it.

Sorry but it happened when I looked over and saw it lit up with a kirby ad. wtf.

They would have to be legitimate morons to not understand why Revelations 2 won't get the sales/acclaim as the remaster.

Given that REmaster didn't get much in the way of marketing and generally being digital only, how successful was it?

The Order 1886 looks like it will do fine from the data that's been coming in. People need to let their bias go.

Maybe Kirby? Didn't know it was coming out.

Evolve might be another. Seeing only 1.2 million matches in the first 24 hours across 3 platforms wasn't exactly a healthy indicator.

Capcom's fastest selling digital title to date.

We’re pleased to confirm that the recently released Resident Evil has become Capcom’s fastest selling digital title in history across North America and Europe. The title which launched on January 20th has also broken the record for the biggest selling day one digital title on the PlayStation Network.

Capcom’s Producer on the title, Yoshiaki Hirabyashi, commented “It’s been great to see so many positive comments from fans that have enjoyed this new release. The team here at Capcom Japan have worked hard to bring the game to the latest generation of consoles and we are thrilled at this news on its performance.”

I can understand if it's a game that everyone is expecting to be a 9 (like Destiny) and then it severely under-delivers. but as you said, all the previews for The Order have been tepid to say the least. So not that many people are actually expecting this to be a 9. To me, if if comes out and it's a 7, that's basically in line with most people's expectations. I don't see the reason to go all ape shit over it other than it being yet another game for fanboys to argue over.

I don't get that either. Wanting a game to flop is ridiculous. It's hurts the gaming community. I expect Evolve to flop for various reasons, but if it does well than good (I still don't like the DLC thing tho).

Some people hope that The Order flops, or any PS exclusive for that matter. I don't know if they're fanboys, MS employees or astro-turfers. Either way it's annoying.

Can we really call Kirby a sales disappointment/flop when Nintendo will only print like 2 copies of the game per store location?

More like 2 copies per state, to be honest.

Stop this "Oh they're after us!" crap. If a game looks like crap or the devs say bullshit like they did ("more cinematic feel", remember? Pepperidge farm remembers). Ryse got this last year, MCC got this after the shit launch, DC got this too, hell even Smash Bros on the 3DS got this because of the terrible, piece of crap lagfest multiplayer that it had. And don't even get me started on Bayonetta 2 60fps crusade, even though the game is more like 40-45 fps most of the time.

The Order 1886 will be critical and commercial success and so many people will eat crow that these is danger of them going extinct.

Evolve will be biggest financial flop (Kirby will sell less but Evolve was probably billion times more expensive to develop).

Jump into any dedicated Order thread, it's getting borderline crazy.

Order will be a GOTY contender along with MGS5 and Uncharted 4.

I think The Order will flop critically, mostly because of its linearity and qte/ overly cinematic presentation and will be panned for not being innovative and being "generic״, some in GAF will love it though and will defend it religiously :)

It will do pretty well sells wise still, game looks too good visually and there is enough hype.

That's why I was thinking it might flop, too. I'm hearing like 5 hours with most of the trophies, and while I personally think that could be worth $60 for a fun campaign, I bet most people won't. Then again it already has good pre-orders numbers supposedly. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out.

that 5 hours thing is false, btw.

The Order will surprise a lot of people, in a good way. The crow's already in the oven.

Other than that. Revelations 2 looks meh.

actually...i've seen more posts like yours than positive ones. actually even more scathing. your post was pretty tame in comparison haha :P

I find all these comments saying The Order 1886 will flop, comical. Oh yes, there will be plenty of crow eating in Gaf-Land.

Kirby.

I kind of feel bad, it's one of the few first-party Wii U games I'm not buying, it's the kind of game I want to see succeed, but I didn't like Canvas Curse so sorry no buy

Let's be real, even if you're walking down a straight path being interrupted by cutscenes every 10 seconds people are gonna eat that shit up cause it looks pretty.

Ryse somehow has fans on GAF, have you played Ryse? Don't play Ryse.

REmake is the fastest selling download title on PSN of all time... the new Revelations game might due just fine...

There is a new Kirby game?

I buying both, but I kinda hope The Order is some 10/10 game and Bloodborne ends up being the 7/10 game. Just to see Gaf flip upside down

Ryse isn't horrible though. It is average to mediocre, yes. But it isn't a terrible, broken game. The multiplayer is pretty fun but the campaign was serviceable at best.

yep...for the most part i recall ryse being received pretty ok...even on gaf. this is why i think the order will be an easier sell/sell better than bloodborne.

I feel like this gen reviewers have been little harsher though than they were especially at the beginning of last gen. Nines were handed like candy back then.
Yea that pic isn't true anymore, there are hardly 1-2 new games (no remasters or ports) this gen that have reached a 9 MC.

I don't know how the scores will pan out exactly, but in terms of GAF flipping upside down, this idea that Bloodborne is going to push systems really doesn't convince me. I have a strong feeling that The Order is going to push more systems.

The Order: 1886 will not flop commercially. It's the first retail PS4 exclusive in months.

I don't think Revelations will do fantastically though. We'll see.
