The Order 1886 | Impressions Thread of not shooting the messenger.

That's not a beard, it's a bush.

I have a sculpted piece of feminine-friendly facial topiary that has made me the envy of lesser men.

So you suspect that GAF players tend to be completionists, and yet you (a GAFer) are not a completionist. Doesn't that just prove you should not make assumptions about the general playing style of GAF?

I agree, such a weird point to make so I guess he is an outlier here just like 5 hours play through : )

Guess how long it took for me to finish Halo 1 on my first play through? About 5 hours. That includes 45 minutes of cutscenes.

I don't remember the length of that being a concern with everyone on the internet. And it only had local split screen multiplayer as an added value.

Oh how times have changed.

Now that's what I'm talking about.

Beard bros for life, you and I.

I have a medium-short length, cushioned face fur which I shampoo and condition every day for maximum fuzziness. That, along with my classily concealed chest fur patch, makes me the most apt candidate for Knighthood and Lady Igraine's affections.

I fucking hate this. After over a year of not being able to discuss this game I'm hyped about without every discussion going to shit, we're finally able to discuss and hype the game for less than a week and then everything goes to shit again and all people care about is the length. ugh.

Yo, am I off base or were we not going to keep the game length debate in the (40+ page!) thread dedicated to that subject? Why am I seeing some of the same people jumping back and forth between these two threads having the same arguments?

Finish me in under 6 hours if I'm wrong.

AAA games are front funded and should not be mixed in with the sentiment behind kickstarting. Likewise, only, IMO, bad kickstarters go in with the premise that "this is the first of many you will be funding!"

I'm sure you know that I was being facetious ;)

I'm funding it either way :)

Man its so hard to dig up the actual impressions in this thread. Is there any other than Rapier's? I've already seen Osirisblack's thoughts

MrxDrxer or something, the man2k and perineumlicker(?). It's too much work to dig on my phone but those are the names I (almost) remember. Also some guy with a Nathan Drake avatar.

Yeah I'm on mobile too, I've seen theman and drakes but not the others.

Just wish there wasn't so many pages of nonsense to filter through -_-

I know right?

Honestly, every Order thread just heads to the same endpoint. You can track it like clockwork.

If Ru is reading this, can you get the actors for Galahad and Percival to reenact the heartbreaking scene from Fresh Prince? Posted on the previous page.

ALSO

can I get a pic of Izzy with her hair down? Rowr.

Split screen.
Online multiplayer.
2001.

To those who played the game already, is this game just a trinkets-based content collect-a-ton? I'm asking because that's the new narrative being thrown around in another The Order thread.

Btw, I love collecting trinkets so it's a not an issue for me.

On the topic of the trinkets, most of the ones I've seen (admittedly not many) are really well done and look almost real. The newspapers, posters, ornaments etc. Some of the literature seems quite interesting as well.

It is now 1.5 hrs of gameplay, all else is qte cutscene trinket hoarding.

Thanks Nib, I'm really happy to hear that. Can't wait to play this awesome game a day early than most gaffers here.

Halo 1 local multiplayer has paid 10000X dividends. It was the start of crazy LAN parties that I and others have fond memories of. 45 min of cutscenes still leaves 4 h 15 min of pure Halo gameplay that was revolutionary for its time. The order has up to 50% cutscenes/non-interactive segments and brings nothing new to the table.

I guess you played the game, can you give some early impressions for those of us who don't have the game yet? please no spoilers though : )

Sadly the trinkets and literature are purely atmosphere building and bear no relevance to the story. :(

Man, the furore and hate around this game is so strong, who even knows what it is any more.

Maybe they are planning some story DLC for each trinkets you found : )

In any case, it's a non-issue for me I love me some trinkets rummaging goodness : T

Split screen.
Online multiplayer.
2001.

I never really played online. Not my thing. Did a few rounds of split screen and some LAN play...but that was never a draw for me.

I loved HALO for it's single player campaign of which I played over and over again. Quality trumps quantity...always.

That's nice and all but Halo had some of the greatest co-op I've ever played and multiplayer was a blast even in split screen.

I don't think it would've been as amazing as a single player only game.

I'm happy (very happy) to see numerous impressions of folks who finished the game saying it took them approx 8-10 hour range. I was a little concerned about the 5 hour thingy, I'm not gonna lie. I relieved I can put away that concern. I'm back officially excited for this game. I'm also looking forward to that Lycan statue. Thanks Gaf for the first hand game impressions!
