Beautiful, man. Just beautiful.

Just watched this episode on Hulu. Best superhero show on TV by far. Still in shock that they pulled off firestorm properly. Grodd was the icing on the cake.

I'm a Marvel guy traditionally, so I hope Agents of SHIELD steps up to this level after the hiatus. Never liked Smallville, Arrow, or Gotham, but Flash is genuinely great stuff.

It's good to see Todd Manning relevant in 2015. How is Barry going to prepare to win against reverse flash?

While we're on that subject can someone explain Wells reasoning behind telling Barry to get faster?
Does he want Barry to get faster so he can beat him at full strength? Is it me or are the writers setting up an ending where Barry beats reverse Flash?

Can someone fill me in on Grodd? I don't read comics so I have no idea why people are freaking out. And how did the general know him? Did I miss something in a previous episode?

Hmm some of wells dialogue sounds like it would come after a reveal. Wish we didn't have to wait a month for this.

Has anyone come across a good reason for this hiatus?
Is it spring break in the states? Lent or wut?

How can you focus on the outfit when dem yams is right there?

Between Iris and Linda, I'm calling it: Barry Allen is an ass man.

So unrefined.
I prefer the term lobster tail. lol

He is one of Flash biggest enemies, a gorilla that gained psychic powers, hyper-intelligence and superhuman strength following exposure to a radioactive rock that fell from space, in the show he gains those abilities following STAR labs particle accelerator explosion. In the comics he, along with other gorillas that gained powers with the exposure to radioactive meteor, establishes Gorilla City, though I don't know if the show will delve into this.

He's a psychic, super genius evil gorilla. In the comics he hails from the hidden Gorilla City in Africa, on the show he was experimented on by Eiling and Wells before the reactor explosion happened and Wells set him free. Grodd is a fantastic villain.

probably to create more speedforce

Did you know that Tom Welling refused to wear the Superman suit, even in the final episode? It's why you never see a full on shot of Clark as Supes. Fucking ridiculous.

I never watched that show but that's ridiculous.

Just a Flash-themed The Last Guardian gif I made last night

Well done!

lol, why wouldn't you want to wear that iconic suit. ffs, Welling.

Anyway, onto my thoughts on this week's Flash

so good!

I'm so excited to see where it will go next.

DAT GRODD

To add what others have said, there are 3 appearances of Grodd:

1) The first apperance of the general has him in a flashback talking to Wells in STAR labs. In the background, a cage is there. At the end of the episode (post particle-accelerator explosion) the cage is broken and a sign is revealed... "Grodd"

2) He's in the sewer, learning how to read & write. He kills a city maintenance worker.

3) He's apparently in cahoots with Wells. Kills (?) the General.

I still think it's possible that Wells has gray motivations, and isn't the totally-evil RF from the comics. Either that or, like the comics RF, he needs Barry to be at his peak for him to even exist.
Then the real battle begins.

Thanks, missed #1!

Oh damn, my TV show app it's still airing next few weeks. But wiki has no info so guess it's not coming. Looks like Arrow is continuing, why is Flash gone for a month? Was this the renewal point and they ran out of episodes or something?

There are like 36 weeks in the season while there are only 22/23 episodes of most CW shows. Breaks are inevitable.

Personally I'd rather have a month long break than a bunch of 1-2 weeks on 1 week off scheduling.

I don't think Grodd killed Eiling, Grodd will probably torture him and then mind control him.

So wait, last episode Cisco said he had a match for the DNA of the yellow speedster in Barry's house. We got whole episode and they still didn't tell us who it was. LAME.

So Ronnie is played by the real life cousin to Stephen Amell, which just mindfucks me beyond belief tbh.

1st half of S1 Arrow is a lot better than all of season 3. Season 3 has a B team of writers, directors and producers handling it. THe drop in quality is obvious.

Have you actually watched S1 Arrow recently? What about it is so good other than the Merlyn and Helena episodes? Even Helena is disliked by a bunch of GAF.

Trying to compare staff by credits is a bullshit endeavor when you don't know much about the behind the scenes. You know The Flash and Arrow are room written, right? Seasonal arcs are planned with the EPs, at best you can blame weaker pacing and more awkward dialog on specific writers. Also both shows use the same stunt company and crew. You also appear to be using IMDB credits and not actual show credits, because Berlanti, Kreisberg and Guggenheim are still EPs on Arrow.

Martin Stein was pretty dumb for not realising Wells poisoned him. I'm confused about why Wells helped Eiling in the first place. Why not take him to Grodd before then?

Episode was so good though. Stein speaking in Ronnie's head was a total YES moment that made me eager to see how they adapt other superheroes.

Think he wanted to force Firestorm to recombine, and knew putting Stein at risk (with his mental connection to Ronnie) would force them back together. Wells seems to be doing everything in his power to create and enable these superheroes/villains, starting with Barry :).

Wells seems to be attempting to ensure that a specific future occurs. It's possible that he needs it to ensure that he's created or whatever.

Part of that is ensuring that Barry becomes the hero that he needs to be. Remember the episode in which the future changed and Barry was no longer missing in the Crisis and he freaked out?

BTW, that changing future also implies that Flashpoint, and a time traveler being able to change the future by changing the past, is totally possible.

Whooo that episode. The way they ended it just made it all the better. I'm still surprised they name dropped Coast City of all places. That promo is gonna make the wait all the more difficult.

Goddamn, that was a tremendous episode.

HOLY SHIT AT THE STINGER.

I'm still in shock at Grodd. Figured they'd build him slowly and have a big reveal in season 2, but they just went straight for it. I just can't believe it....He's totally going to use Eiling as a puppet. Cannot wait to see how it plays out.

Firestorm was fantastic. Loved it when they merged back together.

Firestorm and Flash scene was so hype.

Iris in that dress. GOOD LORD!!!!

Glad they didn't drag out the reveal that Barry that time travel. I love how this show deals with certain big reveals/secrets, Arrow and other shows could do with taking notes.

SPEEDFORCE is coming. OH MY GOD!!!!!

I didn't like Barry using his powers in front of Stein's wife. I felt that was a pretty silly scene.

The Barry take-down was glorious. It's nice to see some weapons that are specifically tailored to his powers have been developed.

Last time I did this was to a gorilla. Was I the only one who laughed hysterically at that? Oh man, the delivery was perfect.

Flashpoint Paradox is coming. Holy shit yes. I'm convinced they'll be able to pull it off successfully, even without all the main players...

At the time it was explained as a licensing thing. Smallville was a different property than Superman so they were allowed to show the Superman crest but he was not allowed to wear it. The only concession was very briefly during the finale. But maybe that explanation was bullshit.

Yeah, I remember then saying licensing being the reason why Bruce Wayne/Batman was never in the show too.

Superman Returns and Batman Begins both disrupted things I think, certain properties were out of bounds.

I'm not sure how long they'll even bother with secret identities for The Flash, Wally never cared too much for them and this show takes a lot from his Flash. Plus Stein's wife knows about his work and FIRESTORM so she's probably pretty safe.

And now Superman x Batman will likely disrupt the show using them for any Flashpoint Paradox season. I don't really mind, but it would have been sweet to see that version of Batman and Superman in live action, maybe even that version of Joker.

Good point about Stein's wife, but I really do hope they don't go the route of everyone knowing his identity. Not sure I like the end result where villains/metas use his family/friends as bait to attack him every other week.

Again if they do Flashpoint Paradox, the focus will be on Flash and his mother and Oliver and Robert. Joker and world war stories will probably be gone but those are mostly ancillary. You could replace Merlyn's earthquake machine for city destruction.

Can you imagine Robert giving Oliver a letter saying he's proud of him for surviving and saving the city? The feels would be so good.

I think the Johns books mostly avoided that trope. Plus if his identity is public you can get super friendly Flash who's painting people's houses. It's great seeing Flash getting along really well with the public, something we'll obviously never see on Arrow.

Seriosuly, noone else bothered by this? :P Or did I miss something in that episde last week... Hmm...

Would be funny to have an episode begin with Olli trying to do what Flash does with pretty unsatisfying outcome. Like shooting a can of coffee per Arrow in front of people or a pizza.
